Upcoming DLC
The Easter holiday is still a few weeks away but you need to start making room in your basket for some “sweet” DLC. We will let you know when it’s time to “bounce” on over to the PlayStation Store for this “tasty” Mod and Kart.
This Week’s DLC
El Snake–o has finally slithered out of hiding and is available on the PlayStation Store Tuesday, April 5th. The El Snake-o Mod is $.99, the El Snake-o Kart is also $.99 or both for $1.75.
El Snake-o comes with the following parts for you to create with:
April’s going to be a busy month! To get you ready for some of the most anticipated titles this year, the Qore team circled around Seattle and then to London.
More precisely, in Bellvue, Washington, Veronica Belmont got the ‘hole’ story and a preview of the sequel to the first-person puzzler, Portal 2. Valve’s Doug Lombardi, Erik Wolpaw, and Josh Weier take her through the new (and familiar) characters, puzzle elements, and innovative gameplay that expand the Portal 2 experience. They also show off the very cool co-op mode that we can’t wait to try.
Veronica also gets an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour of this world famous studio to witness what it’s like working…and playing at Valve. With state-of-the-art hydraulic desks, an on-site massage room, and a very un-corporate culture, they’ve created a talent-filled, unique, and very creative environment.
CLASSIFIED: Recently, Intel managed to intercept and partially decrypt a series of Ravager burst transmissions. The following brief has been pieced together from these fragments and accuracy is questionable.
The Ravagers are an insectoid race, originating in the distant [No Translation Available] system, far beyond currently detectable exosystems. Long capable of interstellar travel, they left their home planet, [No Translation Available] after resource depletion, atmospheric degradation, and increased solar activity began to render it uninhabitable and the majority of their kind were wiped out. This period is described as “the Great Culling”— a period when all weakness and mercy were purged from the Ravager race. (Apparently, the more militant factions in Ravager society helped in this “Culling”.) The survivors boarded enormous ships and left their dying planet. Probes were sent out in vast numbers to locate and analyze habitable planets. Extremely advanced genetic seeding techniques allowed the probes to deploy virally distributed Ravager genetic material to planet surfaces, where native lifeforms would begin a rapid process of mutation
It’s a relatively quiet week for new releases on this week’s The Drop, but it shouldn’t pry you away from your PS3s and PSPs my fellow gamers. Zipper Interactive radios in for reinforcements with the release of the SOCOM 4 multiplayer beta. Anyone with an internet connection and a PSN account can now log into the multiplayer battlefield. Yes, that means all 60 million of you PSN users.
Compete for leader board supremacy with the aid of your PlayStation Move controller in the pinball action game, Stardrone. Man heavy tanks, and other four wheeled tools of destruction on the planet surface of Mars in Red Faction: Battlegrounds, and enjoy destroying aquatic life in this week’s PS minis release, Fish Tank. And finally, go digital and portable in a galaxy far, far away. This week’s releases may look like an Ewok, but pack the punch of Rancor, join me padawans for this week’s The Drop.
Happy Sunday, folks. Hope you enjoyed this year’s April Fools Day’s pranks this year, which seemed more lighthearted and less mean-spirited than in the past. We even got in on the act for a change.
Personally, I really enjoyed Destructoid’s entry; their Faxtoid takeover was both funny and incredibly creative. Did you see anything that topped their effort?
Programming note: we’ve been experimenting with livestreaming video directly into PlayStation Home. Soon we’re going to need your help stress testing the stream, so keep an eye out here and on Twitter for how you can participate.

I’ve spent much of the week catching up on my PSN backlog, particularly Spring Fever titles like Slam Bolt Scrappers and Moon Diver, plus a few quick rounds with the SOCOM 4 multiplayer beta…which, coincidentally, is scheduled to publish to all PSN users this week.
In other news, this week saw the launch of the PlayStation.Blog en Español, run by our friend Lorenzo Grajales. Lorenzo’s been working to set up the PlayStation.Blog en Español as a great choice for Latin American gamers, or those who prefer to speak and read in Spanish. Let us know what you think!
- I’m playing: Crysis 2, Moon Diver, Mortal Kombat PSN demo, Slam Bolt Scrappers, SOCOM 4 Multiplayer Beta
- I’m watching: Green Lantern Wonder-con footage, Johnny Cage in “Fight Dirty”
- I’m reading: Phases of Gravity and Prayers to Broken Stones by Dan Simmons

Baseball season is finally here! As we begin to watch our favorite teams go at it on the diamond, I’d like to show you our newest MLB 11 The Show trailer, focusing on our Home Run Derby mode using PlayStation Move.
You can still play Home Run Derby using the DualShock controller, but this year we’ve really upped the ante, allowing players to now use the PlayStation Move controller in the same way that you would swing a baseball bat. You can play a quick three-out Derby against a buddy or make the experience a bit longer with five or ten outs, using up to eight sluggers in total.
I’ve had a lot of practice playing and I have to tell you, it feels really good to swing for the virtual fences and hit one out of the park. And, if you don’t trust me, have a look at our cover athlete Joe Mauer taking some cuts on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
