We have been working on a new PS3 system software update that requires all PSN users to change their password once PlayStation Network is restored. The update (v3.61) is mandatory and is available now.
If using a PS3, your password can only be changed on your own PS3 (or a PS3 on which your PSN account was activated), as an added layer of security. If you have never downloaded any content using your account on the system, an email will be sent to the registered sign-in ID (email address) associated with your account when you first attempt to sign-in to PSN. This e-mail will contain a link that will enable you to change your password. In this email, click on the link and follow the instructions to change your password. Once you have changed your password you can sign-in to your account using your new password.
We strongly recommend that all PSN account holders with PS3s update their systems to prepare for when PlayStation Network is back online. The release of this update is a critical step as we work to make PlayStation Network significantly more secure. Thank you for your continued support and patience.

I was playing today on the PS3 when I was sent to the loging page and a message appear saying that someone sign in using my PS3 ID I think that sony is still getting hack I try calling ps3 but call line was full and couldnt get any help
I am so glad to be back online and talking to my friends and shooting and driving…feels like coming hone again and the ganeplay is so smooth and quick. Also and this for mainly the woe reps. There are rumors of another possible attack on the 21st. Please keep your eyes open for an irregular system glitches.

the network being down never affected me. i hardly ever play online. so for me sony can take all the time they need to do what they need to do.

Xbox Live has never been hacked and never will be because they know how to provide their users with security. Oh, and typing in all caps doesn’t make what you say any more important. I can only imagine the stressful nature of the last month on Mr Hirai and his colleagues, not to mention their families. We must appreciate that Sony is not the bad guy here. The hackers are the ones thru their criminal act that did us harm .Sure mistakes were made visa vie vunerabilities in the PS3 network, but honestly … whom is invunerable in the massive online community?
I say thanks to Sony for restoring and providing services that we all appreciate and enjoy hour after hour.
To the hackers I say “too bad” your skills are enormus, too bad you don’t use them to for good purposes.

I already changed my password and played online for about 2 hours. Got off and came back and got the “Under Maintenance” message again.. Whats the deal? Anyone else get the same thing?

was up now it is not…..I do have a suggestion though the thing you are doing with netflix is retarded…NETFLIX is not apart of the Playstation network I WAS able to sign into it and watch movies until this last stupid update(even when I was not signed into the Playstation network) And last DON’T YOU EVEN THINK ABOUT MAKING AVATARDS MANDATORY as the standard interface NEVER TAKE AWAY THE 100% customization of the system to the player otherwise it is just a system and not your own system that you have purchased!
