UPDATED: PlayStation Network Scheduled Maintenance Today

UPDATE: The maintenance has been completed, and Account Management and other affected functions are once again accessible. Thanks, as always, for your patience.

PlayStation Network is scheduled to undergo maintenance today, from about 8am until approximately 5pm Pacific time. During this time, registration and Account Management will be inaccessible, including the password reset process. While some users may experience difficulty signing in to PSN, the majority of consumers will be able to play online as well as sign in to external sites that require PSN authentication (like this one).

For those asking about the PlayStation Store, we’re still targeting restoration of all services by the end of this month. Contrary to reports, the Store will not be publishing today.

Stay tuned to the PlayStation Twitter feed for updates and a notice when maintenance has concluded.

We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

  • Yes, this is a problem, for some reason whenever a customer with a valid complaint says anything other custromers feel the need to beat them into submission. If you buy something and then you are denied access to it it is valid, if it gives SONY a head ache too bad, they need to learn consequence regardless of the root cause.

    If everyone acts like everything is fine rolling over and playing dead..that is when we will continue to be taught to live with less while Sony will continue to make more money.

  • So it seems like May 31 is the true date that the PSN Store comes back up. Some people might’ve guessed right. I’m mighty impressed. But still, take your time. Some people here have no patience because they want their stuff now. Now i’ll hide in the shadows for one more week til there the PSN store is back up.

  • Its so funny how som people dont read the entire message presented in the blog. If they say, “The Store will not be back until the end of the month,” why do you ask, “Will the store be back up today?” Reading comprehension would be great for the impatient ones. I want the store back up too but I’m not going to ask the same question over and over again when the answer is right in front of you. Be patient, play some games online and have a Coke and a smile. Its coming.

  • man, i at least want my download list. i had to reformat my drive about a month ago and so i’ve been without all my downloaded games and dlc all month long! this is getting ridiculous. they should make a way to (at the very least) have access to your previously purchased items. i can’t finish my replay of dragon age origins without them (so i can import my save to DA2)! agh! it’s so frustrating!

    sereusly dude (or dude-et) we are all in the same boat. Sony has already stated that thay are trying to get the store up and running by the 31st. If you got money burning a hole in your pocket then get drunk or something.

    I got tons of games I cant fit on hard rive. Majority are my son’s so I agree it would be nice to download stuff we legally own.

    That is precisely what happened to me, I fully understand what you’re going through :(

    I also wish that the download list could be accessed, it seems to be broken that they are tied directly to the store payment system like this if it is already purchased.

  • Now I bet when the store comes back up that most of people who were saying that: “sony sucks”, “I’buying a 360”, “I’m selling my PS3”, they’re gonna be saying: “We love you Sony”, “I’m glad I got a PS3”, “Glad I didn’t get a 360”. That happened with the PSN outage so I wouldn’t be surprised if it happens again when the store get’s back up.

  • @286 Citrean: Yeah, I’m the same boat as you (PS3 died in the middle of PSN outage) — it really is the worst case scenario, as you no longer have access to items you are entitled to (and my favorite games are downloadables).

    They really need to revisit this problem of access to downloadables if they want to ensure the integrity of the PSN purchase value proposition (and software through services in general).

    I honestly don’t see how people are standing up to disclaim the voices of customers with legitimate issues caused by the practices and processes of a megacorp.

Was it an emergency or your continued disrespect for your customers who paid in advance? PSN is not “free to access” as you indicate. Its cost was bundled in the cost of the hardware/software we purchase. This service is paid for in advance PERIOD Until you get this through your thick skulls you will continue to torment your customers and we will start to leave in droves and we will never look back other then to warn people not to purchase your goods and services When you planned internally to do this, where were we in this plan? LET US KNOW 72 HOURS IN ADVANCE. It is OUR service WE BOUGHT it is NOT FREE to do with what you please. When you withhold the service with/without cause and WITHOUT REAL compensation you are stealing from us pure and simple. The loss of service is ONLY YOUR FAULT no other group is to blame. Your offer of a pick of 2 games out of 5 is laughable either I already have or would not bother downloading them.   • Look everyone, Their not going to bring the Store yo until the end of the Month! Meaning; The last day!!!! Another reason is; If they open the PS Store back up and somebody steals our info they said they will give us 1Million Dollars for any intrusion. That’s why its taking sooooo long.

    I highly suggest to PSN management to hire better customer service staff and/or VIPs. As a company, you should be giving PROMPT and PRECISE information to your customers.

    We’ve received neither.

    You really have to learn to give better approximations and stop getting your customer’s hopes up by giving potential dates of services being re-enabled and then over-extending said date by a week/month (and heaven forbid, year).

    When we were indirectly told that the store would be back up on the 24th.. we already werent happy about PSN going down in the first place, then taking almost a month to come back online.. but then you go even further by delaying timelines.

    Very unprofessional..

    But hey, with this new insight into how your company works, i might employ you to redo my kitchen, because your estimations are pretty much on par with the repair crew.
