Starting today, PlayStation Network and Qriocity account holders in the United States can begin the enrollment process for the identity theft protection program by visiting http://us.playstation.com/news/consumeralerts/identity-theft-protection/. We are also notifying customers of the enrollment landing page via email, which you will receive in your inbox this week.
As previously announced, Sony Computer Entertainment and Sony Network Entertainment have made arrangements with Debix to offer the AllClear ID PLUS identity theft protection program to PlayStation Network and Qriocity customers who are concerned about identity theft following the criminal cyber attack on the network. AllClear ID PLUS is a premium identity protection service that uses advanced technology to deliver alerts to help protect you from identity theft. The service also provides identity theft insurance coverage and hands-on help from expert fraud investigators. Sony has arranged, at no charge to eligible PlayStation Network and Qriocity account holders, for twelve months of this service to be provided by Debix to those who choose to enroll.
In order to be eligible, account holders must be residents of the United States with active accounts as of April 20, 2011.
Poof the store will open and all the posts will read ” thanks sony, for the free games and all, thanks, you’re the best free online gaming company in the world” and all this whining and complaining will end and the world will turn, the sun will rise and everything will be back to normal.

SONY….i have been reading comments for the last month now and its time to say something. 1st good job on restoring the network. 2nd what the heck is going on with the store? atleast give us a [DELETED] date or something. everyone here has purchased psn cards and we dont even know if we are gonna be able to use them. 3rd. i dont mind the games you’re giving me for free, but others already have those games. they are OLD. PLUS the only reason you’re putting out infamous and planet is to get sales up for the newer titles. i think that’s a scam more then anything. you’re suppose to be looking out for your customers and not treat them like [DELETED]. i’m not gonna sell my ps3 but i will tell you one thing, i know a lot of people including myself that WILL NOT buy the new console if you don’t clean up your act. p.s. DAMN sony i sold my xbox and got my ps3 for a early bday present on the 17th of april. my birthday was april 28th. make sense? i went a whole month with nothingggggg. also one of the big chain stores got hacked and peoples credit card info got stolen in the us not to long ago like walmart or target did they offer you free items from their store nope just contacted people and said oops sorry it is very unfortunate to a company but they didn’t ask for the hackers its the web and it will continue and nope dont work for them but if you dont want your stuff stolen dont use the services

can you read they gave a date granted a target date it says the 31st is what they are shooting for and for need more games there is stores who sell lots of games and you can get for under 20 dollars if you can afford to buy off the ps store i imagine with the noney you have saved in the month you say you would of bought for you could afford a really nice one from the stores all around you

I think everyone with an account before the cyber attacks should be having this. Especially is who’ve spent at least a grand or so on PS3 and PSN items alone.

i have question. when the yr expire how much will it cost to renew the service or will the subscriber be held to renew his/services. Will not renewing the services after 1 yr have any ramifications on the un subscriber.?

i swear the next fanboy that says sony is doin a good job should be banned from PSN forever..we need the store already..I have a few games that have released since the network went down and they all came with DLC i cant get..stop saying the store isnt important..it is we paid for the DLC thru collectors edtions and so on..so yes the store is extremely imprortant

I’ve stayed steadfast with Sony from day 1. Unlike most it seems, I realize Sony was the victim of a crime, and I also realize they’ve been doing everything they can to not only make sure full service is restored, but that it’s all done through appropriate channels, and in the end, can provide a secure, full service.
That being said, the whining and complaining from others is absolutely disgusting. You’re all seriously the only thing that’s annoyed me about this whole event. Someone even said that this FREE identity protection service is useless without the store being up. That’s completely idiotic. You make Kevin Butler sad when you say ignorant things like that.
Be patient, be GRATEFUL. We all lost absolutely NOTHING but a few precious online gaming days, and we’re coming out of it with SO MUCH stuff, that Sony, out of their good will and service to their customers, a majority of which are whining, greedy, morons, is giving us, paying for, to show they they DO indeed give a crap.
And for those of you talking about jumping ship to go to xbox or whatever: Go for it. Go sell your blu-ray/gaming console, which for the majority of it’s time since release, has delivered guaranteed quality. Go sell it and switch to a product that has been riddled with failures since day 1. That you have to pay online for. That is losing more and more of it’s exclusives. That ISN’T getting integrated with steam. Go ahead, do that. None of us really care what stupid decisions you want to make.

It’s sooo annoying: First it was the network being down, yes that sucked but tough [DELETED], Sony took priority to stop more information from getting stolen and redesign the network to keep us safe. Now that it’s back, it’s like you guys can’t be satisfied. Second, I have games that came with DLC but they still function with out the update, chill out and stop complaining. Life will go on, it doest revolve around the store. Go play online, it’s possible now.
At least Honest Hearts should be good. Had to trade in my PS3 copy for a PC, and have to start a new character, but once I hit level 20 I’m going to head over. Hopefully thought this will keep me busy until either the store comes back, or Duke is relesed. Won’t be putting any more money into Sony until they get some stuff fixed and back going. At this point I’d be afraid to buy a card just in case the store doesn’t come back.

I would just like to say that we are talking about personal information (consumer data), and here you are so willing to hand it over to another corporation that you know nothing about.

Identity Theft Protection seems like a very smart way to go IF, IF IF IF, you are in such a position as that you have thousands and thousands of dollars available through your line of credit and/or you have reason to believe that your possessions raise you to some sort of elevated “financial genius” of properties who has more than they need, and plenty to steal. Most of us struggle just to make ends meet, some are over-extended all across the board. I guess I’m a bit more humbled, and can’t imagine anyone wanting to be me.
The rest of you children need to S T F U and stop whining, the adults are busy working, and talking this thing out. Think before you speak… and be resourceful and informed before you hand your info to ANYBODY!!!

@430 I agree about people jumping ship. I won’t sell my playstation nor will I buy an xbox. Because of all of this, my faith in the company has been weighed. I will keep my playstation only to buy the exclusives that go with it. As for any other game, chances are I will end up with a pc version. As for the Identity protection, I too think it’s a great Idea for those that want it. I have always bought the network cards, so my name has never really been up there. ANY identity protection is helpful.
So when will ps store be back up any date yet?

i agree with the buying of the cards if you dont want your credit card info stolen than go with the card problem could have been averted with doing that sony gave you the oppurtunity for just that the web is not safe haven for information and you were told by alot of people if you dont want anyone to have any chance of ending up with your info don’t put it out there hackers have hit most busineses at one point or another if not just the denial of services or othe it happens to the best of them and microsoft they were built on stolen data that someone else came up with and they ripped off i have no use of microsoft they are the worst of crooks

Back then, all the majority of the people would say everywhere to Sony is that they want PSN up, and will rant non-stop. This is usually inevitable with any largely popular network being down. It’s a norm sadly.
Now that the network is back up but lacking the store, we still have frequent demands for the PSN store being up, even though the PSN finally came up. They demand it like spoiled 12 year olds for the majority of them. If you’re them, go enjoy what you have. Seriously.
I know there are scenarios in which someone just got a PS3/PSP near/at the time the PSN was down. I’m one of them. I’m also not happy with the PSN store being down. I needed games for my PS3. However, as a PS3 user, there are many other games we can get from game retail stores. Go for them. You can get very decent games at around $20-40 still, such as Resistance 2, Demon’s Souls, and so on.
PSP owners don’t get much choice if they hate UMDs or have a PSPgo. You’re just going to have to live without Sony for awhile if you don’t have any games.
I doubt this will cease the rants. I can only hope some will stop so these blogs can be more on-topic instead of every single one of them being about some PSN service being down.
My bank and visa caught a false charge to my account yesterday morning from a company called Microtel MOB.
They provided a false phone number along with the charge of $9.11. Visa caught it right away and cancelled my card. Was very inconvenient, my card was declined at the gas station. Kind of embarrassing. I can’t think of any other way they got my card number. Be careful and watch your stuff. It was only $9.11 so we wouldn’t notice it but with enough people it would add up quick.
So did SONY catch the HACKER jet ???
as for no other ways there is many other ways it happens all the time someone could of scanned your card or copied it and there was a prob at a credit card company they were sending cards to the wrong people they called it a manufacturing mistake one guy got 9 cards for different people in canada so it can happen that you scanned it somewhere and it got copied

Enjoy what little you can of your ps3, because this may effectively put Sony out of the gaming console business permenantly. There ain’t gonna be a ps4. Hmmm, Hopefully this time around, Sony will NOT be so complacent with online security. The identity protection offer is just a patch up – if your identity has been stolen through the PSNetwork, it could take YEARS to fully restore your credit worthiness and repair the damage done to you name. I honestly hope PSN has done the job right this time! I’ve now taken my credit card details off my account, though it’s a little too late to stop any damage being done, isn’t it Sony?!?!?! Won’t be trusting Sony with my CC details ever again – will be ONLY ever be using pre-pay from this moment forward.
Sony you guys are doing good with the psn and for the people who are waiting for the store to be up sony said the deadline to be May 31st ok so check every tuesday and just relax and be happy that most of u guys can play cod and other games.
