Resistance Dual Pack Deploying This July

Brandon Winfrey's Avatar + Posted by Brandon Winfrey on May 27, 2011 // Community Intern, Insomniac Games

Missed out on the first two Resistance games? Don’t worry, I’m not mad. I’m just here to tell you that soon there will be a way for you to catch up on the war with the Chimera before the epic third chapter, Resistance 3, comes out on September 6th. All the cool kids are doing it. Plus, you’ll get some pretty sweet exclusive bonuses.

Resistance 3: Dual Pack

Introducing the Resistance Dual Pack! Releasing in the North America this July 5th, you’ll be able to purchase Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2 together in one convenient package – at one convenient price. For only $39.99 (MSRP) you can experience the thrilling journey of Nathan Hale as he fights back the invading alien force known as the Chimera. And it comes just in time for you to be ready for Resistance 3. How could it get any better?

I’ll tell you how it can get better! Bonus content, that’s how! Alongside the first two games you will also receive:

  • The Resistance 2 Aftermath Multiplayer Map Pack
  • Resistance 2 Skin Bundle
  • Resistance 2 Wraith Skin multiplayer weapon

That’s $10 worth of content for free. Or, as I like to think of it: Being able to buy a really big sandwich at lunch – for free!

But settle down, folks. That’s not even the best part. Also included in this bundle is an exclusive multiplayer skin for the upcoming Resistance 3. Take a look for yourself.

Resistance Dual Pack for PS3: Capelli

Yes, the beanie is back! Exclusive only to this dual pack is a voucher code for the Capelli SRPA skin. So, if you want to dominate your foes in Resistance 3 multiplayer as the gruffer and buffer version of Capelli from the Resistance 2 days, you need to pick up this Dual Pack.

When I said I wasn’t mad at you if you haven’t played the first two Resistance games, I was telling the truth. In fact, I’m ecstatic that you now have the opportunity to play both of these critically acclaimed titles at a great price with great bonus content. Heck, even if you have played the label off of the first two, you could buy it for your friend and get them addicted (You can keep the Capelli Skin for yourself – I won’t tell). So, if you are new to the Resistance universe or want to relive the thrill all over again, you can’t go wrong when you pick up the Resistance Dual Pack. After all, September 6th is right around the corner…

Had the original back when it first came out before i got rid of my old ps3 (2 years ago). Got another ps3 recently and didn’t get the game because i wanted to wait for a pack of both of them. Took long enough but here it is lol.

I just wish they waited a bit longer and once 3 comes out, put them into a 3 pack for $80 or something.

ok ill say this…. im proud to say that R:FOM was my FIRST EVER! FPS that i LOVED! so that game has a special place inside my gamer heart…. i own it to this day and when R:2 came out i bought it Collectors edition!

Still R:FOM had some kinda of internal Achievements/trophies….. why not just put those ones as trophies in a patch AFTER finishing Resistance 3??? i know ive been reading ur post of NOT EVER doing it… but cant u ask Sony to provide a little bit of help with this wish???

Insomniac U are a Great AWESOME developer house and i loved ur games since Spyro on PS1! U are in my top rated list of developers! i know u listen to ur community so plz instead of the negativity for the trophies how about an … “ill tell sony to see what they say after showing them the community comments..”

NOTE: I saw the box art of R:3…. and i got to say …. i dont like it…. i know many of us think like me…. c,mon Insomniac! u can do better than that! dont try to be “artistic” and go make a BADASS box art!! have u seen the box art of Gears of war 3??? did u know ur competing with a beast of game??? Dont get me wrong ill pick R:3 over gears3 any day! but u know what i mean….right? LOVE U GUYS!

Man, All these haters on R3. How about we wait till Resistance 3 comes outs and then decide whether to complain or not to complain. I’m looking forward to playing Resistance 3 and it’s Survival theme along with being opened to playing 16 player MP.

And to all those Trophy Beggars. Just stop. There are tons of other games out there that has Trophy Support, play those If you want trophy’s. And the one that mentioned Uncharted 1 got trophy support, It’s because Naughty Dog already had a trophy like system included in Uncharted 1 when Sony told them internally that their developing an achievement like system.

Anyways, Some people are forgetting this bundle is mostly being aimed to those that haven’t played the Resistance series and want to get into it before Resistance 3 comes out, Which I find this bundle pretty good.
It would have been better though if it had a special Resistance cover, and maybe include an R3 beta code or R3 Demo but for $40, it looks like a good deal for someone to get into the Resistance series.

If James Stevenson reads this, Will this bundle be in like a box or will it be a big slipcase. And is it possible to have one without the greatest hits/ Red label? Maybe as a limited edition? Thanks, I’m thinking of just picking it up for my PS3 collection And I only get good games for my PS3 collection. ;)

Oh, and one more question, Will you guys be at E3? Showing a new trailer perhaps or even your multiplat with EA?

Resistance 3 is gonna be a freakin sweet game! i cant wait! would there be any hints that you can give us as to the nature of “the return of Hale”? is he gonna be a Chimera? or did capelli not shoot him and get him some advanced treatment? or what? im sure inquiring minds would like to know :)

and with all the talk about adding trophies to R1, im sure it can be done at some point. id really like to see trophies, if it can be done at some point, cuz i never finished R:FOM, beat the hell outta R2! id definitely pick it back up to finish it if trophies were coming into play!
i mean im still getting the pack anyway. but the trophies would make it that much more worth my money, because im somewhat of a trophy hunter :)

thanks Insomniac! keep up the good work!

I hate to repeat, but I agree, the sales would go up if you were able to add trophies to R:FOM, as this is the only reason I wont be getting the Dual Pack, just the 2nd Resistance used at gamestop.

Sounds good. I hate to admit it but I haven’t played through either game. Resistance 3 is looking excellent from the videos I’ve seen and now I want to play part 1 and 2 before it releases so I’ll definitely be picking this up in July.

As for trophy support for Fall of Man, I honestly don’t see why people feel they need to demand the developer put them in. The lack of trophies shouldn’t keep you from enjoying a good game.

@James Stephenson,

I understand it takes real man hours to code for trophies, especially in a game that had no achievement system built into it. However, there have been plenty of games that have been released now that are even from older generations that have trophy support. Insomniac is not doing there homework to see how much the community would like trophy support for FoM. I know for myself that I have both games on my shelf and will not buy the bundle. If it had trophy support for FoM, I would even preorder it. Not to mention, many people no longer have the game and would buy it again for the trophy support.

God of War 1 and 2 managed to have trophy support and those games werent even released on the PS3. I’m sure there are plenty ways of getting more resources or working in more man hours without taking away from R3.

I payed less than 10 dollars for Resistance 1 (a mediocre game mind you) at gamestop… why the hell would anybody shed out the dough for this bloated priced boxed set when you can easily find them for cheaper seperately… for some crappy extras? Meh.

+ soldierone on May 28th, 2011 at 3:26 pm said:

I love Insomniac and Resistance is by far the best franchise on PS3….but even PS2 HD remakes have trophies…Tomb Raider got trophies, Uncharted got trophies and they were working on Uncharted 2…hell even the very small team behind Warhawk put in trophies….Why re-release the game if you are adding nothing to it.

No one is telling you to buy it, and as you’ve said, you have played the first one, own it, and probably have played and own the second as well. This package is being aimed at the devoted Resistance fans, and at the gamers who HAVEN’T played the game. If you’re just going to hate on the subject(s) of the entire post, go do it on some forums, please. And SONY and company, I would be even more inclined to buy this pack if you added a demo to maybe Uncharted 3 or some up-coming game.
Gracias~Creo que este videojuego va a ser bueno!

But on another note, I think I am becoming actually ill from the PSN store not going up… I should just stop checking this website and assume it’s not going to be up until the 31st or later, because every post on here that’s not “PSN Store Back Up!” just depresses me, and I don’t even know why. All I am really looking forward to when it goes up is the freebies plus I want to buy a couple PSP games so I’m not so damn bored at work when I am on break.

Ugh…

@qwerty

I’m not buying this. My comment was for those who have yet to play Resistance… just letting them know this box set is a rip off, and is just a way for them to cash in on the Resistance 3 hype… if you buy the games seperately, it’ll be cheaper… Like I said I got Fall of man for like 9 dollars… that is unless they inflate the prices for these games just to sell more of these box sets.

MAYBE this would be worth the 40 dollar price tag if it wasn’t such a half assed release.. I mean, they really can’t add trophies to the first game? I don’t buy these excuses they give, it’s b.s. If they can do it for Uncharted and other older games, there is NO excuse why they can’t do it for Fall of Man….. other than laziness.

The reasons they give in this blog, are complete bull… you want us to rebuy your old games, give us some incentive to do so.

inFAMOUS 2, for three reasons:
1.) It’s coming out months earlier,
2.) It has to be one of my most favorite games, and
3.) If you’ve played the first one (which if you haven’t you should download for free when the store is back up) then inFAMOUS 2 is a must have to complete the story that the first one started.

To prove this, from Uncharted’s wikipedia…

“The game was patched on August 4, 2008 in Europe and North America to version 1.01 to include support for the PlayStation 3’s Trophy system.”

Uncharted was released in November 2007.
