  • i am totaly getting a pair! >:D

  • I want them but I’m a little put out by the lack of bluetooth connectability…

  • I’ve been a nightclub dj for some 25 years. Since day 1 I have used Sony headphones. Why? Because they get dropped, HARD, stepped on, stuff spilled on, twisted, thrown … any kind of misery you can possibly imagine happening to headphones happens in a nightclub (especially during a six or seven hour set … sweating and all). Sony’s headphones remain crystal-clear every time I pick them up, no matter old or how much abuse I’ve put them through. The MDR-7505 is an absolute workhorse.

If Sony’s putting out a cordless headset for PS3 … I’ll be the first on line to buy one!

  • The lack of Bluetooth support is disappointing, especially as the current systems have just two direct USB connections. Why is there a need for a large base for wireless Bluetooth when Bluetooth is standard with the PS3?
Will this dongle require a direct connection to the system or work through a USB hub?
Currently controllers have limited functionality when not connected directly to the system. Are there any limitations to functionality by connecting through a USB hub?
Any chance this uses a pass through dongle, at least? That is where the dongle includes a USB connection so a device can be added.
How many headsets can be connected at concurrently?
It really does not matter how small the dongle is, it is a negative when considering any headset designed for the PS3. I wish the official PS3 headset came in two styles, USB and Bluetooth. Then we could buy the more expensive Bluetooth if desired or go for the $99 version if the USB dongle was not an issue. Unfortunately, I’ll have to keep looking for a Bluetooth solution with the quality and dependability I desire.

  • oh man looks sick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Aww…..I wish this came out sooner, my birthday is June 22 and im gettin a headset. If these came out earlier i would have definitely gotten them, maybe ill get them later. They look awesome though (:

  • WOW, USB adapter, that is great, Virtual 7.1 surround. that means we should be able to hear things in back to the side and to the front.
OK, Now I just may get them. can they also be used for a PC? or will you have drivers available for the PC. I am tired of all the dang wires and having a new son were trying to get rid of all that spaghetti.

  • would spend a million with microsoft before giving liars a dime

  • Oh and Sony, Unlike most people I do not listen to head phones at High levels, do they have adjustments on Bass treble , and room settings or is it all preprogrammed? I have extremely sensitive hearing.

  • I have only one question and I hope you can answer it. How many speaker are build in?

  • Wait a minute, are you saying this thing dosn’t have a bluetooth?

  • Anybody complaining about the price or design is ridiculous. Any other 7.1 surround headset will cost you at least $200, and sets such as the even bulkier Tritton AxPros that cost $150 only have 5.1 surround sound. This is the only 7.1 surround WIRELESS headset, and the only set that I’m aware of that offers 7.1 surround that doesnt require an external processor. Frankly, I’m wondering how they put all this together and can afford a price tag as low as $100.

  • Jerometheknight

Why don’t you spend your time replying to the countless questions about the PS Store…?

  • Jerometheknight

This does look / sound really nice, thank you.

  • OMG!!! So getting it!!!!!

  • Yes ! I want one , will it be good for playing the Guitat Hero & Rockband games on also ? Respects to all from England .

  • wish i knew this was coming out before i got their latest one… i’m not very happy with that one so i will definitely be getting this one. it looks so sleek and well made.

  • I just wished it could also be used to listen to TV or could be plugged into a sound system or PC. But it definitely looks amazing. I want one.

  • @493 I understand what you are saying, but let me assure you that redoing an entire global network takes time, and I, for one, was rather surprised to see this many functions of PSN operational while they are still working on others. You have to keep in mind that Sony is working hard to bring the store back online, but they also have a lot of pressure on them to get it right this time around, as they just suffered from an unprecedented attack on their network commerce. If Sony released code similar to what they had before, the same thing would happen again, and we would all once again be in the dark. If Sony takes their time and makes sure that most loose ends are fixed, then the consumers will enjoy a higher level of security and comfort while they buy games at their leisure. As my final comment, I suggest that you keep in mind that every day the PS Store is down, it hurts Sony far more than it hurts you. Keep in mind that while you are deprived of your ability to buy and download games and content at your leisure, Sony is losing millions of dollars in revenue. This outage has drastically affected them, and anybody that says that they simply don’t care to bring the store back up is simply being ignorant.

  • insaneslayerfan

I want one of those, but, i think the band its HUGE, not a band thing, but it would look way more awesome without it. Looking forward to September for buying one : )

  • Sony i love you so much making….SOO SO SO SO SO SO MUCH!

  • “J-ToWne421 on May 28th, 2011 at 8:49 am said: would spend a million with microsoft before giving liars a dime”

LOL, as if Microsoft hasn’t lied before? They released the 360, KNOWING it had severe design flaws that caused overheating. They just poked a few more holes in it and crossed their fingers that people would bend over long enough so they’d get the benefit of the 1 year head start. Instead of going back to the drawing board like they should have when they decided to go with different hardware to compete with Sony better.

How people allowed them to get away with that still baffles my mind. You’re some kind of delusional.

  • Also can u PLEAS PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE make it comfortable for people who wear glasses

  • Will this headset work for a logical length of time after the warranty expires or will they die right after the warranty ends just as my PS3 did? I mean $600 for 14 months of play is quite expensive. And that’s not counting the price of the games. Add those in and it becomes over $1000 for 14 months of play. If I wanted a hole to throw money in, I would buy a boat.

  • These things look spiffy. I wish they were bluetooth though. I can’t really spare either of my USB ports. I need something like this though, because then I can play my PS3 while my bf is asleep without worrying about the sound being too loud.

  • Lol I just bough a Turtle Beach a few weeks ago. Damn.

  • and I bought a Turtle Beach PX21… Great. i guess i’ll wait till mine dies out to get this sexy one

  • You might think this is over priced and xbox sells their stuff cheaper but remember, ps3’s internet is FREE unlike xbox which you have to pay monthly to do anything on the internet.

  • You can get a turtle beach for $60 with better sound quality

  • @PhillyBlunz
Your arguments make no sense. The fact that it uses an adapter dongle means that it most likely will be compatible with PC as well. It also means that it will be operating on the same band as Bluetooth does, but statically rather than dynamically (2.4GHz). Also, I suggest you look up how “true” surround headphones work, as they are generally of less sound quality than virtual surround. The difference is the fact that ‘true’ surround headphones use 3 speakers per ear. That sounds good, except there is only 1 speaker that has anything that could resemble high sound quality, and the remaining 2 are earbud style, tinny, hollow speakers. In my audiophilic opinion, virtual surround is worlds better for headphones.

  • Maybe we could get a free pair of these since we all are still waiting for your services. Especially if the store is not up in time for Escalation Map Pack for Black Ops!

  • Aww I’ve been looking to buy a surround sound headset….but September is too far off! Plus I heard it will only work with ps3 game and not an iPod for example or to watch movies. Is this true? I really hope not…

  • Much better than the cheap headst that comes with the 360. Well worth the money.

  • ive never been a fan of these types of things but it looks pretty good i think its a buy for me

  • Cool stereos headsets for ps3 wonderful and AWSOME!!!!!

  • i want it…

  • i also agree with RedOrangeFire

  • this is cool but its almost the end of the month and the store isn’t up yet :( this is disapointing dudes

  • zombiekiller1500

this headset looks pretty good to me but i wonder if its really worth the $99.99 but… ill give it a try

  • Super Amped about the headset!!!!!!!! i bought turtle beachs headset awhile ago and didn’t like them because there was to many wires….. I like that they will run off usb and not bluetooth so now i can plug them in to my tv and watch tv at night in 7.1 surround…. The only con is going to be the price. iam going to have to shop around a little or watch for them to go on sale some where. BUT count me in sony. PLAYSTATION FOR LIFE!!!!!!!!!!

  • This definitely has me interested been looking at picking up a gaming headset ( in particular the Tritton Ax720 or Turtle Beach PX21) and this looks to come in at a fair price.Hopefully it is up to par with all the other amazing headsets out there because I would def like to support Sony. Besides that have a few concerns:

-Going to be interesting to see if the sound quality is on par especially having 7.1 virtual surround sound.

-Also I did not see anything about the mic having noise cancellation which is something that the current Bluetooth is missing. I want true noise cancellation not emulated like they did with the Bluetooth because that does not work.

    – The battery life of the headset is going to be a major factor on how well it sells. Hopefully it will last more than a couple hours.

    – The ear muffs seem to be a bit small going to be interesting to see if they will fit comfortably over people with big ears. Also on this note the headset looks a bit small hopefully it will fit on your head comfortably and not squeeze/ put pressure on your head leading to headaches and migraines.

    – I did not see anything about being able to adjust game and chat volume separately.

  • Worst possible response to not being able to download games you own: “Here, let me slap on a headset you also cannot use in unimplemented cross-game voice-chat.”

    Idiots.

  • so i guess u cant use them with an ipod/iphone or other music device other than a ps3?

  • if these things are plugging into USB, they should come with a multi-out USB adapter as well. There are only 2 USB ports, how am I supposed to charge a controller and use the pseye AND this headset all at once? Its just plain inconvenient… I’m betting they could have gone the bluetooth route but Sony is probably highly against people using these for other media devices…. No fair.

  • If there is any skepticism held on this headset due to the ‘virtual 7.1’, let me assure you that this is a wise decision by Sony. “True” surround headsets operate using 3 speakers per ear, with each ear cupped for isolation. Our brain deciphers where sounds are coming from, on a horizontal plane, based on the difference of time each ear takes to receive the sound, giving us an accurate concept of where the sound is coming from, meaning that if the sounds are isolated, there must be a digital translation of the sound to allow for delay from ear to ear. Also, our ears determine how far away the sound is based on the volume that it is received by in each ear. Basically what I am getting at is that this can all be accurately depicted by a digitally translated 2.0 sound signal.

  • @575
    Fun Fact;
If you have a Wii, it’s USB ports are powered while the system is in stand-by, unlike the PS3. This means you can keep your charge cable plugged into the Wii, and use it as a dedicated charge station. XD

  • dam this headset is almost as sweet as my girl cant wait to get one

  • dang im going to have to run back to the store and return the turtle beach i just bought

  • hmmmm…. no blue tooth? looks a little to big for me lol… i see someone wearing those huge things, i think i would start to laugh…. and he/she couldnt do anyhting about it theyd have to take em off to move.. if it was blue tooth, id be impressed
