FINALLY! I’ve been waiting for something like this. Sony in Argentina should have better prices though, what is $99 in USA is aprox $400 in Argentina :S I’ll try to buy it online as soon as it comes out :)
Y’know, some word or actual time frame of when the store will be back up would be nice. All we get is “by the end of the month”. Apparently some Mortal Kombat DLC is supposed to be coming in a week and a half, and it would be a real shame if we ps3 owners got shafted on that alongside the CoD BO map packs.
I just might pick those up when they come out. Unless I grab some Logitech f540’s first. Yes, the f540’s aren’t surround. But I’m not sure I can wait until September.
It would also be nice to see some official tech reviews. I won’t spend over $50 on anything unless it has consistent above average reviews.

@197 they most likely are, probably the reason for the USB port on the set. I wouldnt really see a point in 100 dollar headset if its not able to be used globally with my laptop.
May pass my bluetooth headset on to a friend and pick this up for myself. Given I work a late shift a lot of my gaming time is done in the middle of the night this might be just what I was looking for.

Hmmm…just noticed that the product details states: “Surround Sound does not work with Blu-ray Disc movies”. And “Surround sound on the PS3™ requires system software version 3.70 or later.” So there has to be a big firmware update before they’ll work and even though gaming offers Surround Sound, Blu-ray movies won’t? I guess I’ll definitely be keeping my options open.

The one thing piece of info that I was looking for is the one piece of information that is missing about this headset.
Does this headset support individual Chat Volume & Videogame Audio controls? If it doesn’t then turtle beach is still offer the best solution.
I would like to see another official SONY headset for the PS3 but that supports blutooth.
Sorry Sony your behind the time. Motorola S10HD surround sound Bluetooth stereo headset. I have had earlier models that were outstanding though. Only missing thing is the mute button. It also has a better ergonomic design. Did I mention sweat proof? It would be awesome if Bose would make one similar.

About time they are saling headsets instead of bluetooths, those things make my ear sore when I am wear them for a long time. Now when someone buys a ps3 it will finally come with a headset just like the xbox360.
nice 7.1 emulation on a wireless headset and 99$ very cost effective compared to more expensive ones i wonder if its gonna use bluetooth or if its gonna come with a radio transmitter for the audio, of course the microphone is gonna use bluetooth, so im hoping the audio will too :D
Already using a P21 with a DSS surround sound (7.1) adapter. Cost me about 150$ 2 years ago. If this one is cheap might get it.

I wonder how this compares to Turtle Beach PX5 $200-$250 wireless headset. The PX5 def has a lot of features for the money. I wonder how this compares with a price tag like that. Can’t wait for reviews!

That looks better than any of the other headsets I’ve seen on the market. While I wish it was Bluetooth, my guess is there are bandwidth issues so they went with a different setup.
$99 MSRP is a pretty good price, too.
Wireless????? F*** wireless..I’m not going to recharge, or even change the batteries every day..I’ll stick to the $30 WIRED headset i have now..Works fine..

But… I am not primarily a PS3 gamer… I play PC first then Xbox 360 then PS3. I’m sure it won’t work on those platforms… I’ll have to get something higher priced :(
The wireless turtle beaches I’ve seen are only 99.99 too. :| And seriously, I can’t bring myself to care about anything Sony advertises until the store is “published.” Call me a troll if you want, but…seriously. I don’t care about the free games or the PSN+ or any of that…just want to enter my L.A. Noire codes. Ugh.

I find it funny that the turtle beach x31 wireless for xbox is 99 usd and has better options and are more stylish and PSN gives us these for same price but with less global options then the turtle beach x31?
I will wait for a review… but the price is very attractive… will it have the features of a trittion ax pro or turtlrbeach pro? since this is the official mic I expect it to best any other headset on the market for the PS3..

I like all the people who remark about how they will pick it up if it is cheap. If you’d actually READ the article, you’d see they are gonna be about $100.
To me, I’m not a fan of the giant, wide “legs” that hold the ear piece. For some reason it just makes them look cheap to me. But to each their own I suppose.
@ skater from what im seeing there are better products out there for same price with better options features and looks. I dont see why they are so expensive for the features on them but xbox users get a way better quality product for same price from a highly upheld company. Xbox is starting to look better every single blog post PS has been releasing past few days
obviously sir you havnt had a chance to try them. I also have some other virtual 7.1 SS headphones i use on my laptop and still find the turtlebeach normal steareo set to have way better sound quality. Bash less with your lack of knowing actual quality products and not just the lables put on them
These things won’t beep at you just cause you muted the mic will they? Whoever put that on the bluetooth earpiece was an idiot! Last thing you need when you’re mad at a shooter is something friggin beeping in your ear!
