SONY AND SONY COMPUTER ENTERTAINMENT ANNOUNCE FULL RESTORATION OF PLAYSTATION®NETWORK SERVICES
Tokyo, May 31, 2011 – Sony Corporation and Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) announced today that Sony Network Entertainment International (SNEI, the company) will fully restore all PlayStation®Network services in the Americas, Europe/PAL territories and Asia, excluding Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea by the end of this week. The company will also resume Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity™ for PlayStation®3 (PS3®), PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), VAIO and other PCs. Details for Japan, Hong Kong, and South Korea as well as the remaining services on Qriocity will be announced as they become available.
The company implemented considerable security enhancements to the network infrastructure, as well as conducted testing of the payment process and commerce functions. The first phase of PlayStation Network and Qriocity restoration began on May 15 in the Americas and Europe/PAL territories, followed by Japan and Asian countries and regions on May 28, when the company brought partial services back online. With this partial restoration users were able to access to some of the services such as online game play, account management, friend lists and chat functionality were restored. The full restoration of PlayStation Network as well as part of services to become available on Qriocity will include:
• Full functionality on PlayStation®Store
• In-game commerce
• Ability to redeem vouchers and codes
• Full functionality on Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for PS3, PSP, VAIO and
other PCs
• Full functionality on Media GoCustomers will be able to purchase and download games and video content from the PlayStation®Store on PS3 or PSP. In addition, consumers will have full access to Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity through PS3, PSP, VAIO and other PC’s. Service restoration of Video on Demand powered by Qriocity™ and Music Unlimited powered by Qriocity for a variety of network-enabled Sony devices will be announced later.
“We have been conducting additional testing and further security verification of our commerce functions in order to bring the PlayStation Network completely back online so that our fans can again enjoy the first class entertainment experience they have come to love,” said Kazuo Hirai, Executive Deputy President, Sony Corporation. “We appreciate the patience and support shown during this time.”
The company will be offering customers a “Welcome Back” package of services and premium content to all registered PlayStation Network* and Qriocity account services. The details of this program will continue to be detailed regionally.
* Only available for those countries with access to PlayStation®Store.
We will update the PlayStation Blog when the PlayStation Store is once again open for business.
i have LA Noire with free dlcs that i would like to use but we all have been waiting for a month and a half. can i wait a couple more days? yes cause we all have to.

Have IQ’s dropped shortly in the time the PSN has been down. ‘E’ stands for Estimated. Great thing about Estimates is that they can be wrong and are more like guesses. If sony misses the end of the month by a day or too they still technically deliver on the term “Estimate”.
Ton of nonsense about what sony promised this and sony said that. With all this crying going on I kind of wish things were as bad as everyone is making it out to be. Maybe Sony can take the PSN down until July 2012.
We see that some people are not patient. I’m with you Snake… My life would not end either… people got too spoiled playing online and now they trip over EVERYTHING. I’d still be able to play the games…just not online.. but then ppl would be tooting XBL horns..lol which they already do.. some people are only loyal as the day is long.

Japan’s PSN has been back up for over a day now. The only reason they weren’t allowed to bring it up sooner was because the Japanese Government actually stepped in and prevented Sony from bringing the JP PSN back online. If you’re going to reference current events at the very least get your facts straight.
I’ve said it before, I won’t buy an xbox, but a ps4 is definately out of the question.

Honestly I don’t know what to believe anymore from Sony. Still I guess things could be worse (could still be offline). Its great that your patient but I’m sure you can understand why people are upset. Imagine how Mario feels after seeing Princess Peach is in another castle lol
post 173 maybe where your from your word means nothing, but here in America that when we make a promise we either keep it or if some circumstance gets in the way of our efforts we at least let those that we make the promise to know what is happening, or are you just the kind of person that borrows money and then avoids the calls of the good person that loaned you money?

and yea i was joking with my posts. sony has come out to be one of the worst companies i have used. if i could take back my sony 3Dtv i would and take my ps3 to Gamestop for $100 but i paid almost $400 for my ps3 so i would be getting ripped off big time. sony obviously does not have their act together. i understand being hacked is a horrible thing but sony did not have all security they should have which was a wide open door for hackers.

All systems had to be “GO” before the start of E3. Wouldn’t look good trying to pitch sales on new products and total functionality of network isn’t there. I’m still looking for the initial ETA of May 31st. I’ll always be a playstation fan come _ _ _ _ or high water !! Even though it was a long time coming and close to the deadline given,appreciate the update Sony.

I think alot of us have alot of things to redeem in the store but it’s not the end of the world if it doesn’t get redeem when “We” want it. I understand people have run/ran out of patience and the such but blatantly attacking people who are being patient is not cool. Everyone has their own opinion and everyone is open to say what they feel.. but don’t be mad at people who are patient and don’t mad at people aren’t patient. I am patient.. sure.. I have alot to download and re-download.. and hopefully it (PS Store) will be up this weekend. Wow, I read all these comments, yet *I* get called a troll, lol. Maybe I am critical, but at least I criticise in a formal and dignified manner without resorting to obscenities or expletives.
Your sense of entitlement has truly blinded some of you and it seems like you’re complaining for the sake of complaining. I’m not being a fanboy, I’m being 100% objective when I say that PS Store is one of the main source of revenue, and the sooner it becomes up, the better off they’ll be. They’re not holding it off intentionally or out of contempt, you know.
And fyi, while the main reason I was critical of Sony was their lack of communication, I think I can see why they decide to take that approach. Some of you whiners make those with constructive criticism sound like one of you.

I’m sorry, did I just read by the end of this week……SERIOUSLY? Okay, at first I was pretty chill with the PSN going down because I’ve got a PC, Wii, 360, Dsi XL and a 3DS (also got a PSP but have beaten just about all my games) to hold me over…a month without the store and having the online play going in and out every other day has been quite annoying. I know last week Sony said NOTHING about the rumors last week concerning the store and that ticked me off and now I remember reading a post saying the PSN would be down for maintenance starting on Tuesday and lasting until Wednesday (June 1st). If the store DOES NOT come back up today (the 31st) or tomorrow (the 1st) that is it…I am DONE. I cannot take this being left in the dark and being lied to anymore. Don’t tell your dying fans the PS store will be up BY THE END OF THE MONTH if you’re just going to turn around and change your date. Give them a date when you know it will be the absolute day that it comes back. I hate waiting and being anxious and then being let down (time and time again).

yea my first 360 lasted around 2 weeks before getting the 3 rings of death. i got my full money back so i couldnt complain.
If it isn’t up by tomorrow, I don’t care if it’s up the next day. My wallet is closed to Sony as of 12:00a.m. June 1st, 2011. I’ll be using the PS3, but Sony won’t be seeing ANY profit from it.

Originally, it was said that the ps store would be up by may 31. Now you say it’s going to be up by the end of the week… I’m grateful for everything, but I’m getting a little pissed off. i want to play some demos like the inFAMOUS 2 and red Faction: Armageddon ones, but by the time that happens, it seems like the games will be released… Again, I’m grateful for all of this, but I’m a bit enraged at how SONY keeps changing every date when things are to be operational…
I survived hurricane Andrew and saw the local power and phone companies PHYSICALLY restore service to all of Miami-Dade County faster than these bozos at Sony. All they had to do was to get some eggheads to fix software.
