Payday: The Heist for PS3 (PSN)

Hollywood heist movies are, quite simply put, awesome. The high-stakes hits, epic firefights and scene stealing showdowns make for some of the most adrenaline-pumping excitement on the silver screen. But these sort of over-the-top crime capers are not exactly what you would call “legal,” so we here at OVERKILL Software came up with a solution for all you fans out there that want to take up arms and take down a big hit … PAYDAY: The Heist.

Payday: The Heist for PS3 (PSN)

PAYDAY: The Heist is an action-filled first person shooter for the PlayStation Network that lets you take on the role of a hardened career criminal executing intense, dynamic heists in constant pursuit of the next “big score”. Navigate diverse urban settings with three partners in crime — controlled by either AI or your best buddies in co-op multiplayer — and load out with an array of weaponry and equipment as you launch a spectacular crime spree through six high-stake heists, including banks robberies, prisoner extractions and armored car hijackings.

Payday: The Heist for PS3 (PSN)

Whether you’re blowing the roof off a building to steal a safe with a helicopter or emptying the vault at the First World Bank, our action-packed heists will have players on edge and always checking their six. Dynamic environments, adaptive enemy behavior, shifting entry points, FBI agents repelling down on ropes through the skylights, SWAT teams crashing through the windows and special units crawling through the ventilation shafts makes each play-through of every heist a unique fight. Players choose a specialty — assault, sharpshooter or support — to earn weapons and equipment that fit their preferred form of violence. Meet all your objectives and gain experience to unlock trip mines, silenced pistols, machine guns and much, much more.

Payday: The Heist for PS3 (PSN)

If this excites your trigger fingers, check out the exclusive first preview and trailer right now on IGN.com! We will officially be unveiling PAYDAY: The Heist next week in the Sony Online Entertainment booth at the E3 industry trade show, so be on the lookout for more exciting news and gameplay to come!

Wow man surprised no congressman or somebody is getting upset about this game. Or maybe they will later. At least it’s a first person shooter that brings something different for once. If the price is right I might get it, looking forward to seeing more

Oh don’t worry Basindo, someone will throw a hissy fit over this lol. The game however sounds interesting! Would love a demo.

erm, I can shoot Helghast, zombies and those freaks in Borderlands but shooting normal people and cops in banks to steal some money is not my cup of tea and to be honest is kinda dumb with the whole discussion going on if gaming makes people go out and shoot other people in real life.

wow. so how many people can play via co op. Im still very confused.

How does multi player work. Is it player vs player or player vs A.I

And do you keep the cash after each mission

    Hi !

The team can be 4 players in drop in drop out co-op. Full scenario experience in players versus AI.

You keep the cash and level your character as you go on more difficult Heists together.

The single player story mode and co-op mode are fully integrated into eachother. We focus on coop n single player for this one. It is not a deathmatch type game – it is a teamwork game to extremes.

Doing a Heist you better be a tight crew – no time for shoting up your friends. This is a game requiring teamwork like you never seen in a player vs AI before. When you get 25 SWATS coing down the corridor – you better use those bullet in the right direction.

This is online, LAN and single player aswell. The single player and co-op is the same – so you can start out in single player – then get your friends to join half way into the Heist if the heat is to close :)

I think it has a really nice concept. My only gripe is posting this on IGN. I can’t stand IGN anymore. I’ve boycotted it. They’re too imature, unprofessional, and a bunch of biased crapBOX fangirls. LOL.
Oh well, a little off topic I know, but this game looks to be really nice. Will it have any split screen options?

very original concept – are the cops always AI? I was already imagining a team vs. team experience in my head, one team robbers trying to escape the city, one team SWAT, trying to stop them …

I would have preferred a 3rd person game to add allow more stealth elements, I feel whenever I see first person, I’ll expect dumbed down gameplay for the masses.

+ KwietStorm on June 3rd, 2011 at 3:15 pm said:

As long as it’s not made by the people who did Punisher No Mercy

39

+ MrZoobat on June 3rd, 2011 at 3:24 pm said:

Looks awesome! I love heists!

However, is there any sort of stealth element? When I think of high-security bank heists, I think of clever plans going into action and working out with nobody even noticing until the heist is over, and only getting into shootouts if caught. Something along the lines of Oceans 11 (awesome heist movie).

I would’ve preferred third person that included a cover system, stealth takedowns, and Identity theft / disguising as a guard, but this looks to be more of a first person action shooter. Still looks good though.

BTW, it is so nice having all this space. I’m downloading inFAMOUS and WipEout HD from the appreciation program and didn’t have to delete any game data from my large games like Dragon Age 1 & 2, Assassin’s Creeds, etc… Thanks to Sony for making changing out hard drives so easy.

wow this game looks sweet i’m really digging the idea.

Though i want more even if it’s DLC.

– 3rd person view. ( I love third person and for me it feels more tactical when crouching into cover etc.)

– Online Multliplayer with 3/4 Randoms/Friends

– The option to be the Police on the other end. Depending on you’re role on the police side you should be able to try communication methods through a throw phone to stall time, call in a heli. to sweep the outer area, etc.

If those kind of options are too much atleast allow us to be police and set it up in a 3v3/4v4 between all real people. Depending on which type of Officer you pick be it Sniper, FBI, Police Officer, SWAT etc. you get certain weapons or choose your layouts. Stuff like C4, flashbangs, mirrors to see under doors, & that huge door busting weapon forget what its called.

If you added the choice of playing the side of the police i would buy this in a heartbeat and allow us to face real ppl like i said earlier 3v3 or 4v4. I want to be cops more than i do robbers. it would def. add value to this game by doing so and adding a 3person option would be icing on the cake for me atleast

Hey there, Bo!

I saw earlier that you replied that the game will only have online co-op. Personally, I think having local co-op would be a excellent addition to PAYDAY (I’m sure others will agree). I understand that online co-op is the new trend in the game industry(primarily because it increases the number of purchases) but I still like to play local co-op games with my friends in the comfort of my own home (or their homes). Anyways, I’ll keep my eye on this game! The concept sounds great!
