3D Display by PlayStation

PlayStation has long been synonymous with technology and innovation and with the upcoming launch of PlayStation Vita, this year is no different. In addition to delivering an unparalleled gaming experience with PS Vita, we’re expanding the PlayStation 3 offering with a number of new products that will bring you some of the most immersive gaming experiences on the market.

3D Display by PlayStation: Two-player mode

3D Display by PlayStation: Two-player mode

Among the new technology unveiled at E3 is the 3D Display, which features a 24” LCD screen with full HD 1080p 3D presentation. Available at retailers nationwide starting this fall, the 3D Display is uniquely enhanced for gaming with a special two-player feature, offering best-in-class visuals in both 2D and 3D. The 3D Display utilizes an exclusive feature that optimizes two-player mode by delivering individual full HD screens, giving each person their own full screen view of the action on the same display while playing co-op or head-to-head. With an ultra-slim PlayStation inspired bezel design and built-in speakers and subwoofer, the 3D Display is big on image quality and sound and delivers all of your HD media simply by connecting to PS3, PC or cable TV box. It’s perfect for bedrooms, dorm rooms or wherever you want to play the best 3D console games.

3D Glasses by PlayStation

We also announced official 3D Glasses, which are optimized for gaming with comfortable stylish design and built-in rechargeable battery – a perfect match for the 3D Display. You’ll get a pair of these with the 3D Display, but you can also purchase them separately for $69.99 (MSRP) – and you’ll probably want to, given the new exclusive feature on the 3D Display. In addition, the 3D Glasses will work with a variety of active shutter type of 3D TVs and displays.

Each 3D Display will include one pair of 3D Glasses as well as an HDMI cable and a copy of Resistance 3 on Blu-ray disc—all of $499.99 (MSRP)

Resistance 3: Doomsday Edition

Resistance 3, The Doomsday Edition is without a question the best way to experience the upcoming title from Insomniac Games. The bundle, which includes a copy of the game on Blu-ray disc, a PlayStation Move motion controller, navigation controller, PlayStation Eye, and PlayStation Move sharp shooter, will be available at retailers nationwide on September 6, 2011, for $149.99 (MSRP). Taking advantage of the sharp shooter’s authentic, ergonomic design and pinpoint precision with the PlayStation Move locked in, the Chimeran menace will have nowhere to hide.

Not long ago, we announced the official PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset , and we’re very happy to see the positive response you’ve all had. With unparalleled virtual surround sound, the Wireless Stereo Headset is a great way to completely wrap yourself into your favorite games. As we’ve mentioned before, we here at PlayStation are always looking for new ways to enhance and expand your gaming experience. Marrying the best software lineup in PlayStation history with offerings designed to fully immerse you into the gameplay, there’s never been a better time to be a PlayStation 3 owner. I can’t wait to use these in my home too!

+ Matheuscmpm on June 7th, 2011 at 3:30 pm said:

I love it. When will be released?

+ PMPNIT on June 7th, 2011 at 4:18 pm said:

This will be a must buy on Day 1! Along with the PS3 Wireless Headset so that I can have a truly immersive experience. Also, this way I won’t wake up my children when they are sleeping!

+ PMPNIT on June 7th, 2011 at 4:19 pm said:

One question, I wear glasses (no contacts), will I be able to wear the 3D glasses over my glasses? Or do I have to have prescription custom made 3D glasses?

+ TheBlackPigeon on June 7th, 2011 at 5:07 pm said:

This is the perfect size for gaming. Hopefully input lag won’t be an issue. Also, I’m curious as to whether or not Nvidia’s 3D tech for PC’s will be compatible with this monitor?

I am definitely intrigued by this, as I’m looking to replace my PC monitor soon!

+ asfire551 on June 7th, 2011 at 7:01 pm said:

One thing i dont understand. Do you get the Resistance Doomsday budle with the TV or just the game and you have to buy the bundle?

+ ghind on June 7th, 2011 at 7:33 pm said:

This sounds like a great idea, but what inputs are available? If I’ve got a regular TV cable, will I be able to watch tv on this (it doesnt have to be in 3d)? If I’m going to drop $500 on this, I need to be able to do more than just use my Ps3.

+ KINGstarBUDDY on June 7th, 2011 at 8:06 pm said:

@gfsuperman they are on the store. just go to video and hit welcome back

+ allthatremains94 on June 7th, 2011 at 8:50 pm said:

@158 You get the Display, the game, one pair of the 3D glasses, and an HDMI cable.

Okay, according to some pictures from engadget, on the right side it has one component AV input, 2 HDMI inputs, and one Headphone out.

It is still unknown whether or not there are more inputs or outputs.

+ General_Keenaye on June 7th, 2011 at 10:56 pm said:

Next step: Integrate green and yellow colours, for the third and fourth players.

Even the simpler games now, like LittleBigPlanet, that lose your sackboy if you are out of the screen for too long, can be solved with this technology.

+ MarkakaJin on June 7th, 2011 at 11:22 pm said:

Does the 24 inch monitor has a built-in sound or a plug for headphones?

+ ultrajon on June 8th, 2011 at 1:03 am said:

Im getting one, eventhough I just bought a t.v a year ago.

+ Happyfeet_I on June 8th, 2011 at 11:59 am said:

Will this TV be available without the bundle? cause i wanna buy the resistance 3 doomsday bundle and this TV, but i don’t want two copies of resistance 3, that’s stupid.

+ Detective-E on June 8th, 2011 at 7:58 pm said:

Sell your Resistance.

+ Bladenhell on June 8th, 2011 at 8:59 pm said:

when it comes out?

+ Uskusa on June 8th, 2011 at 11:34 pm said:

yeah am a little fuzz on the second pic

+ Fredag on June 9th, 2011 at 8:08 am said:

Will this TV be available with the Resistance 3 DOOMSDAY bundle?

How many HDMI-ports?

Speaker RMS watt? (should be quite good with a subwoofer, don’t hide the specs.)

Input-lag, response-time black to white and grey to grey?

Contrast ratio of 5000:1, is this true?

When will it retail in Europe?

Please dear sirs, answer please. Don’t start up the same confusion Nintendo did. Thanks!

+ GhostAce22 on June 9th, 2011 at 12:56 pm said:

man this is so sick i cant wait just wish there were bigger versions of the tv though overall i love it

+ vember03 on June 9th, 2011 at 2:59 pm said:

I know EXACTLY what I’m saving up for now! This looks so sick.

+ sleeperhit_79 on June 9th, 2011 at 3:53 pm said:

The split screen tech is pretty cool, but it’ll probably be available for all 3d tvs in some way or another and should work for all games with split screen. Check this video out. It shows someone already doing it with their current 3d tv it’s really cool and shockingly simple albeit a little mickey mousey. [DELETED]

+ DarkOne_PR on June 9th, 2011 at 8:02 pm said:

When is this available?? can it be reserved??? i was searching for a TV to buy! this is perfect i have the freaking money right now!! pls sony answer! :)

+ romcombo on June 9th, 2011 at 9:33 pm said:

Definitely thinking about getting this… the only thing that would make me change my mind is if the Vizio “Versus” 3d Tv is bigger for not much more money, but they haven’t come out with a price yet or a release time frame… 24 inches wouldn’t be bad for the room I want to put it in though.

+ botheblue on June 10th, 2011 at 4:51 pm said:

looks a little small

+ RJ49-8HBG-LDB3 on June 11th, 2011 at 5:02 am said:

I love it, but it´s too small

+ Darkuser999 on June 12th, 2011 at 1:41 pm said:

It’s a bedroom TV more than anything else. It will fit very well in my bedroom. Thing is though. There’s no reason why Sony can’t do variations of this bundle and do a 32 inch version for an extra 100 – 200 bucks.

+ RTEK3000 on June 12th, 2011 at 3:49 pm said:

I really want the tv but wish it was bigger

+ Blakkternalx520 on June 12th, 2011 at 8:27 pm said:

this is perfect for me since i only have a viewsonic 22 in. in my room now. Vita is also mine on launch with a couple games which might be Uncharted and who knows lol. Great pricing Sony for both.

+ mqm4141 on June 13th, 2011 at 8:23 pm said:

lol. I really want this TV but it is too small. If they say that they will release other sizes with the same bundle, definately I will buy it. Also, someone can answer me when they will begin selling it?

+ mqm4141 on June 13th, 2011 at 8:32 pm said:

@ghind yeah man thats what i am also concerned…

+ Taznorris on June 14th, 2011 at 2:21 pm said:

I believe now you can buy a 42 in HDTV for around 500$, plus it doesn’t come with gimmicky 3D that will soon become a fad, seriously who wants to wear thick glasses while playing games?

+ Mcgnnis on June 14th, 2011 at 5:20 pm said:

me want that 3D TV….

+ Rackeyblader on June 14th, 2011 at 8:01 pm said:

Will there be an option to buy the Tv as a standalone bundle? Maybe with two glasses and just the TV?

cool i want one

+ Snakepl on June 20th, 2011 at 10:41 pm said:

I cannot wait for this screen since right now I’m using a 17″ monitor to play on my ps3 because it is my computer monitor but it does not work right now and the cable I’m using is HDMI to dvi and sometimes I get a snowy picture because there is a lack of handshake between my ps3 and my monitor sometimes and this screen would be a nice upgrade
