Coming to PS Plus: Midnight Club LA, NHL Arcade Discount, Streets of Rage 2 FREE!

As you know, the Welcome Back Program is well underway and we hope you’ve already taken the time to get your two free games, but if you’re yearning for even more content, well – yearn no longer. Today we’re announcing all of the content coming to PlayStation Plus in two publishes on June 14 and 21.

As a reminder, PlayStation Plus works on a bi-weekly publish schedule, with the free games (PS3, PS one, and two PS minis) coming once a month to Plus. The next set of free games start on July 5, and will be announced in a June 22 post.

  • First!

  • Wasn’t there a free game we were supposed to be getting before the network came down? It wasn’t Comet Crash, it was another game that started with a ‘C’, can’t remember the name.

  • Fancy Pants? Spare Parts? Braid for $2.50? I love my free month of PS+!

  • Thats A Massive Update There

  • Hmm, after using the Welcome back package w/PSN Plus (wasn’t a subscriber), I’m tempted to actually buy a subscription.

  • U3 Nice!

  • I wont be in the country when these updates happen… Man I’ve really lucked out… :(

  • Thanks to the trial it confirmed what I was thinking. PSPlus is definitely not worth the extra money. Sorry to rain on the parade.

  • @5 if you dont buy games as soon as they hit the store its a great program. i am a poor college student and now i have sooooo many games that I cant imagine how sony makes money with this. i love it and its a great program.

  • @7 you cant judge it off of one month. i have 9 months of content that adds up to over 150$ and its well worth it. i just really depends on the person and how much the spend and when they spend it

  • Nice deal with Midnight Club, maybe then I’ll be able to find people who play it online.

  • Does anyone know how long the Assassin’s Creed deals are going to last on the Playstation Store, any help would be much appreciated.

  • @2

That game was Crash Commando I believe.

  • All those sega titles r included in the genesis collection. said this b4, when can we play psp games on the ps3? U would think a little more portability and connectivity would b ready 2 go by now.

  • Will be picking up a few of those sale titles. Loving PS+!

  • Will we be receiving more E3 goodness today? I want to watch the conference again with the amazing Uncharted 3 footage in HD!

  • ARE YOU SERIOUS??? FIRST LILO AND EFFING STITCH… AND THEN A BUNCH OF SEGA GAMES I ALREADY HAVE FOR MY SEGA GENESIS!! FOR THE LOVE OF GOD… GIVE US SOMETHING GOOD AND NEW, WE ARE PAYING FOR THIS! LOOK AT EUROPE! THEY GOT BURNOUT PARADISE AAAND MAGIC THE GATHERING… AND US… LILO AND STITCH… if you keep this up im not paying for this crap next year!

  • Street of rage 2 was released in europe last week, so once again, why you didnt released here as well? Not very respectful if you want my opinion for a paying service.

And do we have an update today for the store? You said last week that they’ll have special publish for the e3. If all the content you were released is the content we missed, then that was pretty weak sorry.

Why no beyond good and evil here when the game is released in europe?

  • How ’bout you contact treyarch and make them lower their map pack prices. $15 for one zombie map is….overpriced.

  • Who thinks this is a good idea let’s give them 4 gig game that takes 2 hours to download for a 60 min trail what are you stupid when I could just go to gamestop get used in just minuets

  • @12, thank you!

So are we still getting Crash Commando? How about more free avatars?

  • I submitted my e-mail address for the allclear ID Plus two weeks ago and I haven’t received my confirmation e-mail. I re-submitted another request last week and I have still have not heard anything. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to proceed?

    Thank you!

  • Ouch . Not good at all . I knew when they gave everyone free ps plus and extended our plus subscriptions by 60 days that we would get fed this kinda stuff . Oh well at least it’s on Sony’s money and not mine. But I know it won’t be much different afterwards lol . Anyway the main thing I wanted to comment on was the discount for NHL 3 on 3 arcade. I mean really ? You wanna give us a 50% discount on a game we all could have gotten for free(I did) for pre ordering NHL 09 ? . Is this serious or a misprint ?

  • Ok so first off I have defended Sony SCEA, SCEE, SCEJ, and SNEA tooth, and nail over the last month or so with all of this craziness going on that I would never wish on a company, or any individual for that matter. Here is the problem though. Everything that has been fixed is barely fixed I understand about the strain on the servers I am talking more about things not working that should, and PSPLUS related.

Straight out calling out whoever it was that told us we would be receiving all scheduled PSPLUS content in addition to regular PSPLUS updates. Furthermore you have NOT been giving a PSone game every month so don’t sit there and pretend you have been. I am not even talking about the outage. I am saying better but more frequent discounts, replacing free content altogether. The first week, and the E3 announcement of it LAST YEAR said PSPLUS would be a weekly update. After the first post that was changed to biweekly. I will say that I have gotten over 50 dollars worth of content easily, We have got a lot of cool stuff, but the content that is actually worthwhile is few, and far between it wasn’t in the first few months, now it suddenly is.

  • We were also told that the SEGA GENESIS GAMES did NOT count as the free games we will be receiving, that doesn’t appear to be the case anymore, Lastly this is a premium subscription service the most important thing about a premium subscription service FEEDBACK. All of you barely ever reply to anyone (I am not talking about myself here I am saying in all the posts I ever look at the only things you guys ever reply to is to reiterate things you already said in the post itself. When important questions are raised no one answers them. This needs to change that is what should be first and foremost you need to provide feedback period.

In this time of crisis the most important thing for your company to do is to restore services, and SAVE FACE. You need to show how important your customers (especially those paying premium fees) are to you by actually providing feedback. This isn’t me being a jerk I am a huge fan of Sony this is basic business 101 that for whatever reason still seems to elude this company’s online blog support. I am not saying sit there and read every comment that comes to mind, and I am not saying everyone is guilty of this. Many developers of indie games actually do provide quite a bit of much welcome feedback.

  • If Magic the Gathering is now possible on PSN *holds riot shield ready* is it wrong to say, if you can implement Yu-Gi-Oh….and I mean the classic one, not the one of Children’s Card Game on motorcycles >_<

  • This is a much better update. Glad to see that things are going to round back into form. Thanks.

  • impressive.

  • What baffles me though is how little the in house network team replies to anything. Patrick Seybold did a sound job of keeping everyone informed of what was going down on the outage. Telling everyone how important they were as customers, and that we would get everything back up, and running as soon as possible. I commend the companies willingness to be forthright, and tell us point blank this is what is going on, here is what we are doing, and providing us with a timeline. Why though did this suddenly stop? You don’t apologize rip off the bandaid, and then go back to the same old stuff.

If I am receiving 60 days of free playstation plus content, but am not actually receiving additional PSPLUS content on top of what was supposed to be released, then I am not really receiving any free content just a modified schedule of what to release, and when. Streets of Rage II was set to release in april, your timeline well before all of this showed and explained what would hit when. We didn’t receive all of that content when the store launched, and we should have.

  • @Tank_Baked Re: I really don’t think Sony cares what you think. Also if you can’t appreciate what Sony is doing for your poor pockets, then that makes you sad.

  • the games suck yo put black ops maps download or something.. thats what i expected tbh..

  • Think of it from a business perspective as well how many people do you think would be willing to stick around and sign up for another 3 months or year if they received over 7 games for free as soon as the network was back up? Common business sense, the more free things you offer after the network is restored the more likely people will be to stick around for more. If plans changed due to setbacks or the outage or whatever that is understandable. That needs to be made clear and admitted to though. I mean I signed up for PSPlus as soon as it was released Content was great at first.

Then we went from one update to two, but the updates were solid, within about 6 months suddenly we had repeat content (not cool) I have heard all the arguments that different things are for different people, and that its ok to have some repeat content I get that, and disagree but I get it. Now it is getting ridiculous though discounts are getting to be great, and free content is getting to be falsely or improperly advertised we dont get a PSone game every month and we dont get a free mini every two weeks.

  • First I would just like to say I support your post ShiranaiJittai. Everything you said is pretty much how I feel also. The blog does need more responses from the employees. There are many questions and they are still not getting answered. It was like this before the outage and still has not changed after the outage.

Other notes the next updates are okay as I will most likely buy Braid, Magic 2012, Fancy Pants, Microbot, and Spare Parts. I was wondering if the Magic will be seperate from the one you just gave us for free or will it all combine? I was thinking about buying the expansion packs but if they are only good for the one game than I might not bother.

I still could care less about the minis. I would rather see a free movie rental or something. I don’t know how many people actually download them but to me they have all been crap and a waste of time. Maybe you should come up with a better offer than those.

Last thing I was wondering is if we were going to get another update this week? It would be nice to know.

Thanks for all the good stuff but you need to get the blog issues fixed.

  • Can’t get my free games or psn plus, then I tried account management> transaction management>service list>no content found. Help?

  • I thought we were supposed to get the Red Faction downloadable game for free? Did I miss something?

  • Would be nice to see like Poll of what we players would like to see free or discounted featured in PS+

  • I can’t wait until all the PS+ free-loaders have their subscriptions expire so the people who actually paid for it can get back to getting some nice content. If they gave EVERYONE the good stuff, where’s the money in that?

  • So yeah, if you’re a PS+ buyer and are complaining, this is why they extended our subscriptions by 60 days. We will get some free stuff around the 60th day that our money actually went towards, I’m sure.

  • so where is the Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter 2 Full game Trial?

  • I’m with ShiranaiJittai on this issue. It seems like Sony is severely skimping out on us because they had to give up a 30 day trial to everyone with a PSN ID.

These Sega games were NOT supposed to count as part of the free games, we were without the Store for a month, and suddenly a lot of the free content we were supposed to get during the down time has suddenly disappeared from the scheduled offerings.

  • Oh, and I almost forgot. Eagerly awaiting Qore to come up! It was scheduled for yesterday in your last PS+ post…

  • I second that Rene_Led. A poll would be a good thing. I’ve had a couple of surveys Sony has sent me but who knows what happen with those. Plus they were around the begining of Plus.

  • A message to Capcom:

Instead of selling mml2 avatars, you should sell the game and you’ll have happy fans and costumers.

  • In reality, the two months addition to PS Plus users does *not* include the downtime. (just checked my Services List) :/ not that I’m complaining, I’m just curious because I thought it would be two months plus the downtime lol. XD

    Anyhow, no biggie here.

    Looking forward to this update!

  • Guys, our free game was Magic the Gathering. All the promised content (while not great) is still being delivered. Be patient and in a few months we’ll be back into better publishes.

  • Alabama_King334

i wish sony would of gave us 2 months free of ps plus and i want to know how much is the escalation map pack going to cost

  • Why no love for users who were confident enough in Sony to buy a Playstation on April 21st but were unable to register an account, Sony? We experienced the whole outage, just not the ID theft. That’s worth some compensation I think.

Heck, a $5 or $10 download would have been better than “too bad, so sad.” Leaves a bad taste, guys. Lousy PR for new PS owners who bought unawares and ended up with no online for weeks because retailers won’t take returns on these things.

  • Yeah, I like the poll idea.

  • Uncharted 3 beta and on my birthday! Sony loves me. :)
