Grace Chen's Avatar + Posted by Grace Chen on Jun 08, 2011 // Director, PlayStation Store

Hi everyone,

As you know, the Welcome Back Program is well underway and we hope you’ve already taken the time to get your two free games, but if you’re yearning for even more content, well – yearn no longer. Today we’re announcing all of the content coming to PlayStation Plus in two publishes on June 14 and 21.

As a reminder, PlayStation Plus works on a bi-weekly publish schedule, with the free games (PS3, PS one, and two PS minis) coming once a month to Plus. The next set of free games start on July 5, and will be announced in a June 22 post.

We also want to provide an update on the Sega Genesis Collection offers which we announced back in March. Due to the attack and subsequent outage the release schedule has changed for these. Take a look at the new schedule and be sure to take advantage of the free offers:

PlayStation Plus Releases (free)

  • Sonic the Hedgehog 2: Mar 1 – June 14
  • Streets of Rage 2: June 14 –July 12
  • Golden Axe 2: July 12 – August 9
  • Comix Zone: August 9 – September 6
  • Altered Beast: September 6 – October 4

Regular PlayStation Store Release ($4.99 each)

  • Streets of Rage 2 – June 26
  • Golden Axe 2 – July 26
  • Comix Zone – August 23
  • Altered Beast – September 20

On yet another side-note: In case you didn’t see, Uncharted 3 Multiplayer Beta is coming for all Plus subscribers on June 28!

Finally, as we announced last week, we’re offering the full-game trial for Tom Clancy’s Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2 in a special E3 publish tomorrow, June 9.

OK, thanks for bearing with us through all that, now go check out some of our highlighted offers below, along with the full list that follows:

#47, I’m not agree for this. If you were not a member when the outage happens, it is normal that you have nothing for it. You didnt purchase anything on the psn, and never go online with the ps3 before so technically, you miss nothing. If sony have to give free games for every new account, anyone would just create new account to grab all the games.

Its a compensation for existing playstation members, not for new ones who never used the psn before.

I’m beginning to regret signing up for PlayStation Plus. Magic The Gathering is not my style nor are old Sega classics that my brother has on the Sega Collection. I can’t really be picky but this is a disappointment in all honesty. And even though everyone has said it before, please give me my Cross Game Chat. That would make PlayStation Plus worth it. I’d rather have that than games that I grew up playing and have little interest in anymore.

My fault for jumping the gun on PlayStation Plus. I could of sworn Sony promised Cross Game Chat in some press release but I guess I heard wrong. Maybe in the future, eh?

Ok, I asked these questions in the store thread for this week too, but…

Beyond Good and Evil HD was supposed to be released sometime in May. However with the store being down still at that time, obviously that didn’t happen.

Will Beyond Good and Evil HD still be released on PSN?
If yes, when can we expect to see it available here in the US?
Will PS+ members still be receiving a discount on the purchase?
Will the free avatars still be included if you purchase the game within the first week?

Sorry, I’m just getting a little antsy here.

Hmmm odd, i signed up for playstation plus for all the great games, not for a useless feature like cross game chat what do you people need to talk about so bad when you are playing different games, can’t you use a phone?

NEED MORE PLUS FEATURES…. A GREAT PS PLUS FEATURE WOULD BE PS2 BACKWARD COMPATIBILITY I WOULD KEEP SUBSCRIBING IF THEY ADDED THE FEATURE…

I SOLD MY PS2 WHEN I GOT A PS3… BECAUSE I HAD GOT THE ORIGIANL FAT MODEL THAT WAS BACKWARDS COMPATIBLE THEN I GOT YELLOW LIGHT OF DEATH A YEAR AND A HALF LATER AFTER THE WARRANTY WAS DONE AND WAS FORCE TO BUY A SLIM MODEL.. PLEASE ADD IT BACK BECAUSE IT DOES EVERYTHING IS FALSE ADVERTISING WITHOUT THIS FEATURE..

It’s not about talking across games. While that’s nice while playing a single player game, it’s about being able to get your friends together easier. It’s also about being able to play with your friends where you only have to talk to your friends. I’m 23 years old and I’m not about to sit in a public lobby listening to a child screaming into the microphone or another person blasting their music through the microphone. And honestly, the mute option is not an acceptable solution because it becomes a hassle. It’s extremely sad that my friend and I have to be signed into XBOX Live while we play Socom 4 to avoid all of the above and the non-sense of hitting a button to talk to each other. No thank you.

And great games? The highly acclaimed games, such as Stacking, were awful in my opinion. And now we’re getting games that I have no interest in playing any of them. Sonic 1 and 2? I played those on the Sega Collection and even XBOX Live years ago. Not to mention when I was a kid. But that’s fine, to each their own.

#50, I bought a console for the purpose of playing online, but surprise! could not play online for a month. If that’s not worth even a small conciliatory gesture from Sony in your eyes, then yeah, we definitely disagree!

I actually prefer to have the button to press to talk, see i have 2 daughters that are excessively loud, it’s nice to only hear what is necessary. I happen to really enjoy the games from when i was a child i guess because i was old enough to remember them in detail considering you must have been 2-3 years old when it released. And humans can’t remember anything clearly for their first 3 years… Hmm my daughter is older than that and so she will have the same memories of sonic as i did. Also did you buy your xbox just so you can talk on your playstation i figured skype would have been easier and cheaper.

Is Sony’s Gamer Advisory Panel still around? I was a member and use to fill out surveys for all sorts of things Sony related. I refuse to pay for online gaming and can’t stand Microsoft on any level. I used the PS.blog all throughout the outage to stay up to date. The wide range of posts from the whole community really kept me from saying anything, even though there was a very long wait between updates from Sony. The free 30 days of PS+ is really making me question whether the service is worth it or not. Basically I am paying for a subscription so I can buy more stuff? I don’t purchase content on a regular basis, so after the trial anything that I have paid for at a discounted price I get to keep correct? And I lose access to the content that I got for free. All in all, I love my PlayStation3 and PSP, but not feeling the love from Sony after over a decade of being a customer…
PS: quit whining about paying $15 for Black Ops Maps…Sony is not Treyarch and won’t throw their weight around for one game’s DLC. You paid $60 for the game and $15 for the last map pack, is this one really worth it? I am trading my copy in to get the most out of the $75 for the first FPS I have played since Nintendo 64′s Goldeneye.

I’ve been seriously disappointed with PS+ these past few months. The lasts few months have seen pretty poor offerings. Lilo & Stitch, repeats of Minis and Oddworld, replacing Crash Commando that was originally promised with Magic. I actually didn’t even bother downloading some of the stuff this month. Seems like Sony is really scraping the bottom of the barrel to avoid giving out much of value to those getting the month of PS+ free.

I’ve enjoyed my PS+ subscription ever since I got it (mainly because a friend go it for me). Glad to see the Sega Classic releases are getting back on schedule and plenty of good deals to come. I have only one nagging question thats bothering me still after reading this article: What does the Duels of the Planeswalker picture in the article mean? Are we getting something special involving the game? Will it be like Stacking and we get the game for free and before everybody else? Really itching for an explanation here guys.

“Patrick Seybold did a sound job of keeping everyone informed of what was going down on the outage. Telling everyone how important they were as customers, and that we would get everything back up, and running as soon as possible. I commend the companies willingness to be forthright, and tell us point blank this is what is going on, here is what we are doing, and providing us with a timeline.”

Do you live in a parellel universe? None of the above is true from the one I’m in.

Seal Team,

No, I bought my XBOX 360 far before my PlayStation 3. The online experience is well worth the $60 a year so I don’t ever see myself becoming a PlayStation gamer over an XBOX 360 gamer based on that alone. But for those exclusive titles, I would enjoy being able to talk to my friends. Also, while the button push to talk is a great way to block out some noise, I can’t accept that feature as a solution either. At times, I get teammates who continue to push the button just to scream in the microphone. Kind of sad, really.

I’m seriously disappointed to the PS+’s product line. It lacks everything, basicaly. There are months we don’t get one thing or another, the games are just silly and 90% of the promises made when it was created aren’t being kept. I probably won’t renew my subscription once it ends.

PlayStation Plus is a ‘Coupon Service’. It is definitely not worth the money because after the subscription expires then all the free stuff from plus, including games, is unusable unless you renew. Since the PS3 is over the hill, all the content will be unusable after service is discontinued for the PS3 once the next PS arrives.

The Auto-Update only applies to the last 10 played games which is useless when I put in a game not part of my last 10 and still have to wait 15 minutes for updates. If you’re going to auto-update then update all my games from the list of saves on my PS3; duh. It can’t be that challenging.

The PlayStation Plus Cloud is a ‘Backup Service’. A true Cloud service allows loading AND saving files directly from the Cloud.

Any purchases made during Plus are yours to keep but that doesn’t make Plus any better. I have had Plus since day 1 and it hasn’t been memorable. I don’t plan on renewing but I had to at least try it once.

Sony said it was going to do 2 updates per week until they were caught up after the 6 week outage of downtime. It seems Sony got lazy quick and is going back to the weekly update. Who can you believe anymore.
