700 wow, and it would be nice to hear from Sony about freezing’s problem still. I got no PS3 to play right now and i am tried of waiting all day for help when i email them about my PS3 freezing’s up 20 times in day. Please relpy soon. i think 5% of User are having this same problem with me too or its just me or my PS3 needs repair or something. only had it for sense 2009 so 3 years now.

i getting this feel there are going to pull the PSN on us next if there can’t fix one freezing’s problem in there update. And there is no Cross-game chat dudes only PS Vita right now, just wait for them to being it out and lets tell them i have one problem my PS3 Is freezing’s during gameplay 20 times in day. And i forgot that my whole PS3 screen blank out too, and i had it for only 3 years now. So whats going on with my PS3 slim or system software.
So I try to install the update. Stuck at 8% with an error msg. Cxl and start again. 0% + error msg. Try to dl to desktop for USB install. 178MB file gonna take 3+ HOURS…….Needless to say I’m alot PO’d right now.
I gave Sony the benefit of the doubt in regards to the outage and appreciated the “Welcome Back Pkg” but I’m getting a little tired of the “connection lost” msgs I get when playing online. I get the fact that it’s a free system to play on and thanks for that but what good is free system that I can’t play or lags so bad it’s unplayable? Sony should be extra diligent right now to keep everyone happy cause word of mouth is spreading that Sony’s become unstable and are not capable of providing a decent online infrastructure.
My suggestion to Sony. Test the [DELETED] out of your updates to ensure smooth(and speedy) installs. Fix the lag/disconnection issues once and for all.

WoW this Unexplained Update is making My PS3 lag and lose my host ability.I have been in Zombie games and I am almost 90% of the time the game host.And only lag well after my Team or what not Lags.Rare for me and Never lag out of game or Time out with 15Mb wired or wireless connection with any of 3 computers online.I play and most others quit before its over because it takes a long time so I must be the host And never worry if I am much but this has Gone too far and Needs to be fixed something Is not right for us too have all these problems . It wont take a hacker to take our system down just a flimsy update can i say no thank you or no thanks to you.whose to thank or thats not what i wanted.and @Any we really have not recieved much except our welcome back package which is still regrdless of what i want and the general consenses wants ..Was more than i could ask for but A awnser is what we all deserve and have not received.

Mine updated super fast. Have you tried modding the console? I put a banana sticker on mine and that streamlined the process.

Mkv support & browser functionality, I can get behind that.
Sony could just expand their contract with Google and bring the Chrome™ browser to the PS3 AND add the Mkv codec/ VLC codec codex. VLC just skipped out on Apple, license that code!
Give the CFW’s their own server. Let them open source & invest your time in your customers.
Why do so many people believe that if they put cross game chat on the PS3 they have to use it. Like many features on the PS3 its use would be OPTIONAL. For those of you that do not know what that means it is simple to understand. If something is optional it means you do not have to use it. So for those that do not want it stop crying that people are going to just jump in and start talking to you while you are on. I know it is tough for you to believe that you are not the center of everyone’s universe. How many of you that do not want the cross game chat own every PS3 exclusive titles? I mean since if putting in cross game chat makes it so you have to use it you had to have went and bought every PS3 exclusive there is, right? I am sure they will make it so that you have to invite or be invited into the party chat. Stop and think you will discover that it will not be so bad to have the feature added.
This update bricked my system….
after the update it didn’t restart but the red led was flashing. I rebooted it manually and it came up with the prompt stating the system was not shut down properly. I clicked ok and shut it down proper and now it will not come up.
The fan starts to spin and shuts down with the flashing red light again.
SONY… now what do I do???
You give Sony $150 for a 6 week repair (losing all your data) or find a reflower/reballer to repair it for an average of $50 (retaining your data). I myself took the second route & was informed my system was defective out of the factory as low quality/fake thermal paste was used & it was missing thermal tape on two chips.

i used software to check out PS3 System update it had virus in it and this is why its freezing’s up PS3 games then during gameplay. Sony you should scan your self and see for with your eyes. i did not open or not mod anything to it but scan it with my file cure and then Microsoft security essentials read it as virus too. sony whats going on dudes?
well now i know its the update i’m getting really pissed off first i thought it was of my router (yea i don’t even know) then i thought it was the game i bought today and now its come down to the update >:) the update that was supposed to make online searching and gameplay faster
now i wish i didn’t update my PS3 system with that virus 3.66 version update which sony put out. I sony has no reason to do that but unless sony is having trouble.
I’m replying to some comments on page 9. Mostly to the person talking about back compatibility. In you statement you said that the first PS2 had the PS1 Chips and that later they where taken out for software emulation. Sorry but I have to blow some steam on this. Who’s ass did you pull that theory out of. If you don’t know what your talking about then don’t. Let me school you. The PS one CPU was a MIPS 3000A running at 33 MHz. Later Sony cloned the 3000A and it had a little higher clock at 36 MHz. The Graphics Processor actually could only render in 2D. It was the MIPS 3000A CPU that rendered the 3D stuff. While using the GP’s advanced scaling and rotation effects to render textures over the 3D image.
This is why you would see weird artifacts in the textures like warping in PS one games. When the PS2 was developed the MIPS 3000A was used as the PS2’s I/O Controller chip when playing PS2 games. When in PS One mode it drew the 3D environments and the PS2’s Graphics Synthesizer did the textures. The GS was a lot more powerful than the PS One GP. This is why you could run a filter over the textures to help smooth out the image. And the 3000A was always in the PS2. Point is if you don’t have an understanding of how the PS one and two worked. Then just don’t even try to sound like you know what is going on in the PS3.

ur going to have to send it in to fix it or buy new one, but make sure to keep the hard drive unless there need it to, as long as there don’t format the drive to fix it hope u back up ur things every week. i do back ups every week to make sure.

Virus in the update? Can a few users here run some scans to test that report? If it was a scan error, we should know and dispell a possible rumour..and if it is a fact, Sony needs to address it’s user base immediately.
well if we send the ps3 to the shop i sure think that we should not pay because its sony that caused the problem so basically we are saying ” ok i’ll pay you 150 to fix my ps3 and format my data for the virus you caused :D )
This is rediculous first you letting our info be hacked..leaving us in the dark for a month with lack of updates..then you brick peoples systems with the last update and now this update is freezing other peoples consoles up (mine included). I loved and yes I said loved my ps3 ..thought it was great I actually bought a 360 before my ps3 and it got the rrod. and I swore I would never go back to microsoft..but now your doing the say thing only frying systems with your updates. how the hell do you expect people to want to buy your stuff..when you are so incompedent and have no clue??? do you test these patches?? Sony if my PS3 bricks up, we know how to point the finger now at you sony. That only if are other PS3 user system brick up there system because of ur update 3.66, i am not turn on my system and then lose all my data screw that. what does it do to make the network better? they should make it update where u can change your account name and still keep your account’s data and make an update where u can play music that’s on your console while u r playing your game

I put my PS3 Slim on a bed of ice cubes, and started the download…
the process was completed in minutes, with no freezing or lagging!!!
Hymm >.> more stability… “freezes during download” is my luck. does the stability affect game freezes? because borderlands is bad for that ._.

i cant dl the update! it gets stuck at 0% and then the error msg! My ps3 is not modified.
Ok here’s the story, not bothered reading all these comments, I left one at 539 me thinks.
I downloaded and installed update 3.66 ok and then played online for a bit and switched off. When I went to play again later it was broke. So I rang a support line and to fix this you need to get the service mode menu.
Press and hold the power button on the PS3 it will power on then power off.
When it’s off press and hold the power button again until you hear beep………beep……..beep..beep.
It will ask for the controller to be connected via the USB cable,
Turn on the controller and you will have access to the menu.
1-Restart System: Restarts the PS3 System.
2-Restore Default Settings: Reset all system settings back to default.
3-Restore File System: Checks for corrupt/missing system files.
4-Rebuild Database: Rebuilds the OS for the PS3.
5-Restore PS3 System: Fresh restore; Deletes everything and starts from Scratch.
6-System Update: Update the PS3 System
You have to complete 2,3,4,and 5.
Your system will wipe all movies, demos etc and past users. You will have to reset your internet connection and paired devices like bluetooth. For playstation network select use an existing account.
