E3 Replay: Twisted Metal’s Iron Maiden Demo, Comic-Con Plans

+ Posted by David Jaffe

twisted metal

Hey ya’ll! In case you missed it last week, here’s a broadcast segment we did with the PlayStation.Blog live from the SCEA booth on the E3 show floor. I get into a little about the character stories as well as talk about gameplay balance and the pros and cons between the game’s 15+ vehicles. I also gab a bit about the reveal of Iron Maiden, the biggest and most complicated boss we’ve ever had in a Twisted Metal game!

E3 was a blast this year! It was really cool to connect with fans at the booth while they went tried out Twisted Metal’s signature Nuke mode. It was also fun showing off our newest level: New York City during the holiday season. The very first Twisted Metal game – released back in 1995! – takes place at Christmas time as well and I guess we wanted to pay a little homage.

E3 Replay: Little Deviants Rolling onto PS Vita

+ Posted by James Gallagher

little deviant

Whenever you get your hands on a new game console or electronic gadget, you want to check out all of its shiny new features. Little Deviants is just perfect for that – it uses a host of different player inputs in a collection of games that is only possible on PS Vita.

It’s developed by Bigbig Studios, the creators of Pursuit Force and MotorStorm: Arctic Edge, bringing a wealth of handheld development experience to what was one of the most popular Vita titles shown at E3. As part of our program of live video interviews, I caught up with Richard Ogden, Game Design Director, to eek out as much info about the game as I could.

E3 Replay: Fantasy Action Adventure with Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest

+ Posted by James Gallagher

deadmunds quest

How time flies: at E3 2010 we were checking out Sports Champions and just one year later, Zindagi Games is back with Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest, a very different kind of game using the expertise the team has gained through developing for PlayStation Move. I spoke with Jeremy Ray at E3 while Colin O’Hara played through an early level.

Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest is an action adventure set in a fantasy world of dungeons and goblins where the title character has been transformed into a skeleton and must overcome the curse. Most interestingly, the team has developed a fluid control scheme that allows you to switch seamless between your sword, your throwing stars and your bow without the need for any kind of weapon change interface – you simply perform the required action with the Move motion controller.

Killzone 3 “From the Ashes” Pack Includes 4 New Maps

killzone 3

Today we’re offering a first look at two new maps from the upcoming DLC map pack for Killzone 3, “From The Ashes.” Consisting of two Guerrilla Warfare maps and two Warzone maps, From The Ashes will reinvigorate your Killzone 3 online experience with environments both fresh and familiar.

First up is a preview video of Lente Missile Base, a Warzone map for 24 players set inside an abandoned missile base at the edge of the Kaznan Jungle. One of many outdated defense facilities abandoned after the discovery of nuclear Petrusite, Lente Base is slowly being reclaimed by Helghan’s strange plant life. But when warring ISA and Helghast forces stumble across the remains of the facility, they find that most of its systems are still operational. As both factions vie for control of the base, the facility begins firing its missiles – frying anyone caught in the underground exhaust vents…

ratchet contest

We have our winners! After long, thoroughly entertaining hours of pouring over the skin designs you submitted in April, Insomniac’s Ratchet & Clank experts have chosen their favorite skin designs for Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One. And let me tell you, it wasn’t easy…

There were a ton of truly amazing designs submitted! However, in the end, Insomniac’s panel of judges felt that these entries best exemplified the wacky, fan-inspired quality they were looking for, while still fitting into the game world as in-game DLC items. So, without further ado, here are your winners:

E3 Replay: Dragon’s Dogma is Not an RPG

+ Posted by Shawn Baxter

dragon dogma

n the beginning of Dragon’s Dogma, you are immediately confronted by a dragon that rips out your still-beating heart and flies away. Your quest is to track down the dragon and discover why he stole your heart and why you can still hear his voice echoing in your head.

At PlayStation’s E3 livestream, Product Manager Mike Schmitt gave a live demo of our E3 build of Dragon’s Dogma. The dragon rears its head, breathes a spout of fire and flies off, paving the way for an intense battle with Orcs and Harpies. It also introduces the Chimera, a monstrosity that combines the attributes of a serpent, goat, and lion. The E3 demo introduces the gameplay concept of “pawns,” or computer-controlled companions that aid you in the fight.
