E3 Replay: Street Fighter X Tekken

street fighter

Street Fighter X Tekken (by the way, the “X” is pronounced “cross”) might just have been the busiest game of Capcom’s E3 booth. Street Fighter X Tekken has a little something for Street Fighter and Tekken fans alike. Our E3 build had playable characters including Ryu, Ken, Guile, Abel, Sagat, Cammy, and Chun-Li from Street Fighter as well as Kazuya, Nina, King, Marduk, Hwoarang, Julia and Bob from Tekken (with plenty more to be revealed soon!).

Capcom’s own Wes Phillips swung by to do a live demo at PlayStation’s E3 livestream. Wes also discusses special guest Cole from inFAMOUS, our exclusive bonuses for the PS3 and PS Vita versions of Street Fighter X Tekken! During E3, top fighting pros and newcomers alike stormed our E3 booth for hours of furious fights, leading to tons of feedback.

E3 Replay: Deus Ex: Human Revolution for PS3

deus ex human revolution e3

When the friendly folks of the PlayStation.Blog asked if I’d like to close out their official E3 livestream with Deus Ex: Human Revolution, I said “yes” in about three-fifths of a second. We’re always eager to show what we believe is a great game, and, on a personal level, how could I resist appearing on a very cool livestream and blog?!

Speaking with host Sid Shuman was a blast. The guy’s a true fan of the series, so much in fact I was starting to get worried he’d stump me with a trivia question or random reference that I wouldn’t pick up. Thankfully, he held off on flexing his muscles and crushing me.

E3 2011: First Glimpse of Aliens: Colonial Marines

aliens colonial marines

During E3 2011, I entered a gloomy room and found myself before Gearbox Software CEO Randy Pitchford. He was there to show off Aliens: Colonial Marines, the upcoming first-person shooter that’s scheduled to hit the PS3 in 2012. When you hear a developer talk about his game with the passion Pitchford demonstrated, you know the studio is on the right track. Gearbox Software is packed with fans of the Aliens films; seeing the game in action, it shows.

The demo starts with the crash of the U.S.S. Sulaco, the high-tech marine vessel from the second film. You wake up to find yourself in a nightmare, surrounded by xenomorphs with no idea about what is happening. But you’re not alone — you’ll have a group of highly trained marines at your side wielding state-of-the-art military technology, from the iconic pulse rifle and flamethrower to the pulverizing smart gun.

E3 Replay: SSX on PS3

+ Posted by Todd Batty

SSX

To be honest, I was completely overwhelmed by the reaction to SSX coming out of E3. In the early days of this project, there was a lot of debate internally at EA about how many SSX fans still existed and how much interest remained in the market for games like SSX, and even some of the games we have taken further inspiration from such as Burnout and old-school Tony Hawk. The huge reaction to our launch trailer at the VGA‘s was the first indication that the SSX fan base was still very much alive and as passionate as ever, but actually meeting some of these people and seeing their reaction to what we are building first-hand was truly inspirational. Of course, with that passion comes a lot of strong opinions on what else we should be adding to the game or bringing back from the old games. We know we can’t possibly please everyone, but our fans should know that we are listening to everything they say and that the team is killing themselves to try and make the very best game possible.

E3 Replay: Naughty Dog demos UNCHARTED 3

One of my personal favorite moments from our E3 PlayStation live show has to be Naughty Dog’s visit. Community Strategist Arne Meyer brought along a doggie bag of Sully fries, a double quarter-pounder of Nathan Drake, and a jaw-dropping demo which premiered at our PlayStation E3 press event. You may have also seen this demo make its late-night premiere on Jimmy Fallon last night, but that was only a fraction of UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception. Arne was awesome enough to walk us through the full demo and explain some of technical hurdles Naughty Dog is jumping in order to bring such an impressive demo to E3 2011.

E3 Replay: Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time

Sly Cooper

I wanted to thank everyone for the great reception we received at E3 when we announced the next installment of the Sly Cooper franchise, Sly Cooper: Thieves in Time, which will come to the PlayStation 3 in 2012.

In case you missed it last week, here’s a broadcast segment we did with the PlayStation.blog live from the SCEA booth on the E3 show floor. We knew Jeff Rubenstein was a big fan of the series and this was the first time he had a chance to see what we had been up to. He had a bunch of great questions for us, and a bunch more that we’ll be answering over the next few months!

E3 Replay: Battlefield 3 for PS3

DICE’s Battlefield 3 had an incredible showing at last week’s E3, racking up over 30 award nominations. But for many shooter fans, one question remained — “Where’s the console version?” Well, tonight those questions are answered as DICE’s own Johan Dohl stops by Late Night with Jimmy Fallon to give Jimmy the first hands on with Battlefield 3 for PS3. Be sure to set those TIVO’s, and for more information on Battlefield 3 be sure to watch our interview with Patrick Bach, Executive Producer on Battlefield 3 below.

One more thing! If you missed the news at PlayStation’s E3 2011 Press Conference, the PS3 version of Battlefield 3 will include the full version of Battlefield 1943 on the Blu-ray disc — an exclusive bonus just for PS3 owners.

As expected, E3 2011 was crazy fun and a gamer’s dream come true. Every year E3 gets bigger and badder but this year’s show was special for us: we finally got to unveil our multiplayer Capture the Flag mode for Starhawk! So far, the feedback has been great. Starhawk was nominated for a bunch of E3 awards, including Best Shooter, Best Multiplayer and Best PS3 Game from G4TV.
