  • Agh, it’s already down. That’s great. On a Sunday you guys can take down an offer, but can’t update the Store ’til late at night on a weekday.

Ah well, I had the only two other “big” PS3 users in the house claim their free games (or, in my sister’s case, claim the ability to claim her free games; still undecided on what the second PS3 one will be), and neither are big enough to care much about PlayStation Plus, especially since I attend to grabbing everything in site, so they can play anything I have as is.

AND BECAUSE IT BUGS ME, I’mma still harp on about the PS Store not showing me as owning inFAMOUS, even though it’s in my Download List and the other three games show as owned. If the Download List wasn’t such a pain to “navigate”, it may not be as much of a concern. That, and not being able to rate the game (same situation for my Full-Game Trial of Assassin’s Creed II). Prolyl not gonna be fixed, since I’m not losing out on any actual content, but I’d like everything to be set right, so I’m still hoping that at some point all this can be set as it should.

  • I tried today on July 3rd, but it seems over, it’s now 1:20pm EST. Darn, missed out on 2 free games. I was gpoing to wait a little bit since I’m managing the space on my PS3.

  • Jeez, people, you could have just selected the games and downloaded them later. They do appear in your download list after all.

  • I’m super mad that I couldn’t get the welcome back games. I tried so many times to access my account and the server’s been “under maintenance”. Now, the free games are gone and lo and behold, I still can’t access my account. I like Sony and all, but now I’m seriously considering not buying anymore of their products. This has been an awful experience.

  • Man sony, even for a program that’s only purpose was to increase consumer confidence, you still managed to screw us in the (premature) end. Can’t say I’m overly surprised though.

  • I too just find out the offer will be expiring today and try to take advantage but found out it no longer available. I thought the Welcome Back offer suppose to run through July 3!!!

  • Also thought this was the last day it was available – not the first day it wasn’t!

  • My free game is also gone. I can’t believe they were offering welcome back games for the inconvenience they caused and now removing it one day earlier or setting their time based on Asian time.

  • I just logged in to redeem my games and I don’t see the Welcome back tab anymore, where Can I find it?

  • Screw you Sony! So glad you can’t hold up to your promises! Once again you are so good with your customers! As a retail employee I’ll find it fun to sell Xbox products instead of your crap! I’ve spent weeks trying to convince people that your products are safe and worth the trouble, but turns out your just a bunch of screw ups that can’t hold to your promises! It’ll be fun to see all those PS3’s get traded in! Talked to customer service and everyone else, but guess what still can’t keep to promises? July 3rd? Really you cut it off at midnight? That’s a real slick move! If I had something good to say about you to your potential customers it’s washed down the drain now! I’ve had people come in today asking why they can’t download there Welcome Back games since it expires on the 3rd. Wow really? Good Job.

  • It’s July 3rd. I logged in. Don’t seem to see a section welcoming me back. Am I no longer Welcome, then?

  • “Q: When will I have access to the Welcome Back Program?
A: The content offered as part of the Welcome Back Program is available for download today and will be available through July 3.”

*through* July 3rd. July 3rd isn’t over yet. What gives Sony?

    @kenanbsch
It would be really ridiculous if they based it off of asian time seeing as how the JP store still isn’t back.

  • Same problem here… Hmm what a stupid idea to upgrade when it is already gone.
I thought we would get July 3rd as well. Maybe I did misunderstand the notice.

    Take care.

  • Because I’m not a corporate kiss up, I’ll be honest. Your games sucked. Should have just given us credit to decide with rather than give us the 3 year old games nobody was buying to begin with.

  • Seriousely @Jeff Rubenstein and others, ripping people off 1 day in advance… What the f%$# ?
Your comment section says Open to Everyone, but don’t be a Jerk
Sorry to say but ending The program YESTERDAY, was a jerk move

  • amdwondershowzen

None of the free games like InFamous, WipeoutHD, Dead Nation, etc are showing up in the Welcome Back section, nor are they showing up under XMB>PlayStation Network>Account Management>Transaction Management>Services List>SCEA Promotions

  • This ridiculous! I like MANY OTHERS was waiting till the last day to start the free trial and everything is already gone! EVERYTHING like others have pointed out state that it would be through the 3rd, meaning that it should still be up all day Sunday until the date changes to the 4th! It’s totally unfair if they’re trying to go by another country’s time zone as well. If anything it should be going by whatever is the last time zone to switch to the 4th. So if it’s Pacific time, then it should be up until 11:59pm PST for example, so like once California changed to the 4th…

Something is screwy and I think I may call Sony. I can see this becoming another lawsuit against them for false advertising.

Please put it back up Sony! July 3rd is NOT over!

  • UNBELIEVABLE! I just spent close to an hour speaking to customer support debating over what clearly is an early termination of the program. The rep and supervisor I spoke with were completely unhelpful and didn’t even want to discuss the program rules. I don’t know how it can be any clearer, from 6/3 blog post :

Q: When will I have access to the Welcome Back Program?
A: The content offered as part of the Welcome Back Program is available for download today and will be available THROUGH July 3.

Q: How long do I have to get into the PlayStation Store and receive my content for Welcome Back?
A: Access to the Welcome Back content will be expiring on July 3. ONCE THIS DATE HAS PASSED, the Welcome Back section in the PlayStation Store will be removed.

I sincerely hope that Sony does what’s right here and extends the program at least THROUGH today as advertised!

  • I agree with u 100%%%%

Dreamwriter on July 3rd, 2011 at 9:33 am said:

Yeah, sucks that the official FAQ says the Welcome Back program would be available *THROUGH* July 3

  • This is BS. I can’t believe Sony Customer Support wasn’t even helpful. Hopefully they’ll make this right and extend it another 24 to 48 hours. Of course they’ll probably extend for 6 hours while I’m sleeping.

  • Hey guys look at the bright side. I’m in PS Home right now and the 100 free items are still free!

    Isn’t that great news?

    Hello?

    Anybody?

    :(

  • I agree it said through July 3rd…you’d think they would be super specific with having all this bad press already.

  • I’m in the same boat as a lot of other people. I did claim Super Star Dust HD a while ago since it was the only free psn game offered that I don’t already own (and it doesn’t even include the DLC like how Wipeout includes Fury), but I was going to wait until the very end to claim my free month of ps+.

Saying something is through a date or saying something expires on a date I guess can be misleading, but the whole “once this date has passed” thing is pretty clear that you should be able to claim things today. I think the REALLY messed up thing is Jeff’s comment on post 25. Even HE didn’t know when it was getting taken down. How on Earth were we supposed to know?

  • I sure hope they extend it a few more hours and LET PEOPLE KNOW that they are doing it. I love Sony, but sometimes they piss me off with they way the handle things. They should at least reply to us and let us know if it can be possible or not. >.< lol

  • Yeah this is just stupid.
Good I can always unplug it again and move back to my 360.

This is just not good enough Sony! You really don’t want your customers back…

  • I think no one is working now at Customer Support…no one working or even caring about that. So no one will make anytihng about this way of keeping customers “mis-informated”.

And tomorrow USA will have a national holiday…I suppose they will have no one on Customer Support to do anything about this as well, as I can see a lot of players with the same problem.

Sony, I suggest you to carefuly read what you have stated in Welcome Back FAQ, just the question that many has re-posted in this thread. After that, try to understand what kind of information you passed to your customers.

July 3 is not over, our accounts are older than PSN shutdown and we want our rights as customers that honestly pay you for all contents we play and download.

  • Ridiculous, plain and simple. I tried to get my games and sub today…. guess what wasn’t available. Sigh. Should’ve known.

  • You people waited until the last minute and you’re complaining now because it’s gone?

“This offer expires on Sunday, July 3rd, so please make sure to claim what’s yours before then.”

What did you not understand about this?

  • Unbelievable. You guys have had a WHOLE MONTH and you still didn’t do it… or you can’t even manage to follow simple directions.

  • I am not able to get on to the Welcome Back Program and I tried everything suggested and I still couldn’t see the icon.
    Help! Help!

  • It said THROUGH July 3rd.

  • That’s just peachy! I find out that it expires on the day that it gets taken down. I think they should have told us this on the ps3 log in some where. I rarely ever come on the playstation site.

  • Yeah, through July 3rd doesn’t mean ending arbitrarily in the morning. Not fair getting short changed on the redemption….thought the bad press of this fiasco would have ended by now.

  • “Unbelievable. You guys have had a WHOLE MONTH and you still didn’t do it… or you can’t even manage to follow simple directions.”

Like many people are saying, I marked my calendar with July 3 so I could start PS+ on the last day of the offer. But now I’ve apparently missed out. It doesn’t matter if you can follow directions, if those directions are wrong.

  • @DeathGazer & triple_lei
Who are you to say what I or others have been doing this past month? People could have been in the hospital, out of state/country, jail, moving, and many other legitimate reasons to not have access to their PS3/PSPs. The Welcome Back FAQ states *through* July 3rd. The post the other day that says it expires July 3rd could go either way. Regardless, I’m not surprised in the least. Sonys been full of it multiple times since PSNs return (when the store would be back, store catchup, PS+ discounts…). People should’ve seen it coming. I know I did.

  • i couldn’t activate Playstation Plus from the Welcome Back program because it asked me to verify my password, and I forgot what I had changed my password to after PSN came back online. and when i tried to use the “forgot your password?” link on the website, it keeps saying the server is down for maintenance. I was finally able to change my password by initiating the password reset request from the console itself, but now the Welcome Back package is gone!! WTH!

COME ON SONY, ENDS JULY 3RD **ALWAYS** MEANS INCLUDING JULY 3RD!!!!

  • HollowFormIchigo

Well Sony you have screwed us once again. it’s the 3rd meaning today is the last day to claim our free game but y’all took it down a day. This is BS I logged on and saw that it was taken away I say we should boycott Sony and don’t trust them ever again

  • That’s really unfair Sony. From what you said I thought today was the last day. I already downloaded the games and wanted to get my PS+ subscription as late as possible. And now the service is not even available anymor You could have been a lot clearer about the actual situation and also, to end it one month after it started (3rd June to 3rd July) and on a Sunday makes a lot more sense to me and again, you said it’d end today. Now I still want my one month of PS+. So please give us some help and show us that you listen to what we say, because the official support doesnot. And thanks Sony for making me upset again;-)

  • Some of us have been busy with other things in life that come before gaming….(-_-;)

I called Customer Service, a guy said that the Welcome Back Program ended at 12:01 AM MOUNTAIN STANDARD TIME!!! It doesn’t seem right, using the Mountain Standard Time as the the cut-off time….

I wsa waitng to get a new Memory Stick, but I figured I should choose the games beforehand. I wasn’t completely sure until a couple of days ago.

Tch…! I wish they didn’t use MST as the time zone of choice….
Me, living in a completely different time zone (Hawaii) with no notice of this vital information….

    I can’t help but feel disappointed….(/_;)

  • URGENT PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT FOR PS3 OWNERS FROM SEAL_TEAM_7p
Facebook recently hired hacker George Hotz aka GEOHOT I strongly suggest you deactivate your facebook account. Thank you for your time.

  • If the Welcome Back stuff was up all day today, then July 4th would have been the expiration date.

    Some of you people…wow

  • @Jeff Rubenstein i have a question of my ps3 , i was playing to day and the sound coming from the ps3 turned into a high pitched sound like it was whinning , please tell me what this means.

  • @DeathGazer

The FAQ says: “Access to the Welcome Back content will be expiring on July 3. Once this date has passed, the Welcome Back section in the PlayStation Store will be removed.”

“Once this date has passed” means once July 3 is over. Both that and saying “through July 3” reinforce the idea that the offer would be available for all of July 3.

If they knew the exact time the offer would end, they should have said.

  • Does anyone know if anyplace actually stated that it would be ending at 12:01AM MST?

Hmm…I wasn’t really interested in the free games, but still….It’s a matter of principle.

Some knowledge of this beforehand would have been appreciated.

  • @megamixer

Jail? Really? Maybe the games aren’t your biggest problem.

And what exactly is the point of waiting until the very last day to activate the PS+ subscription? It’s 30 days regardless, and the games don’t rotate every day.

Really incredible. Sony TRIES to give you free games, you wait until the very last moment (and/or can’t read), and you blame it on them!

  • Hello X-Box 360 here I come. My PS3 is starting to freeze up on me and Sony just gave me a good reason to make the change to a XBOX 360.

This is just insane to treat your customers this way Sony. I have been a loyal customer to many Sony products for years but not after today. I will never buy another Sony product ever again. I just spent 30 minutes with Sony Playstation customer service reps and they were as useless as a teat on a boar. It clearly states we had through todays date, July 3, to exercise our Welcome Back package. They cut it of short a day without any warning and left many of us out in the cold.

It seems like Sony wants another CLASS ACTION lawsuit.

  • @ Yucamayor69 – There shouldn’t be if it’s possible or not, because we know well enough that they CAN put it back up! I wasn’t all that upset about the outage because I don’t play games online that much, and if I do it’s usually on my 360 as that’s what most of my friends and people I know have and are on. However the one multiplatform game that I did get on PS3 instead of 360 was Mortal Kombat and by the time I was comfortable to play it online and all I couldn’t and by the time it came back I wasn’t that much interested anymore like I was when I wanted to.

Oh and the Home stuff is there, it just doesn’t allow you to download it when you add the stuff to your basket and go to checkout. It keeps giving an error saying the content is no longer available.

  • A BIG lol to the people who have waited for the last day to redeem their free games.

  • Through July 3rd = stop deal by 2pm EST of July 3rd. Congratulations Sony for dropping the ball yet again. It proves that it doesn’t take common sense to ruin a company. How’s the phone business going? How’s the console business going? How is your tv business going? I really fought hard against all of the Xbox 360 fans, but I am pretty sure I will buy an Xbox 720 instead of getting pumped in the rearend with PS hype from Sony and their fans that forgot it isn’t the 1980s anymore. Sony Trinitron tubes are long gone. Sony’s heyday is over. Goodnight, drive home safely.

BTW, Joel Rubenstein, you should be fired for being an idiot and ruining a company.

  • @triple_lei
Who said I was in jail or even waited to activate my stuff? There’s been a freebie + next to my name for a couple of weeks. Doesn’t America have the largest imprisonment rate in the world? People get sent there for some pretty minor stuff. Getting sent there doesn’t always mean you’re a bad person who’s life needs sorting out. Land of the jailed should be our tagline. Happy 4th of July :D
