PixelJunk Shooter 2

PixelJunk Shooter 2 is unleashing its FREE online battle demo via PSN now. Go start the download! Go on. It’ll be done by the time you finish reading this. :) We’re putting big bounties on the heads of higher-ranked players (especially those in our Sun League), and PixelJunk Shooter 2 staff will be in the mix. Join in the assault on our Veteran players this weekend.

So what’s in it for the Veterans? The PixelJunk team would like present you with a new battleground. From July 15th, we will be uncovering a hidden stage for PixelJunk Shooter 2’s online battles. This stage will be made available to all players for FREE as a salute to your battling prowess. I should advise you though that while dredging up this ancient stage, a few blocks might have come loose. You’ve been warned…

As an extra hat tip to our online battling brethren (both seasoned and fresh), we’re going to share some data with you on current popular item trends. From our statistics, we’ve calculated your expected “chance of winning” when equipping certain items:

Magma Resistance – 64.5%
Resurrection – 64.4%
Fluid Converter – 59.6%
Sticky Ship – 59.5%
Mine – 58.8%

As you can see, the Magma Resistance item (which lets you fly through magma) appears to be giving many people a slight edge.

Our Top 10 online battle players have also shown us some more unique play styles which are clearly working for them and deserve a mention. Some of the items in their arsenals were quite unexpected. Certain Top 10 players (we’ll let you figure out who) use the Camouflage or Fluid Converter one in three matches, and there is even a master Thief using the Snatch n’ Grab every two out of three matches!

  • I have yet to fire up PJS 2 , I just got it after the sale, gonna have to check it out! Thanks.

  • I tried the demo and I liked it a lot, will buy the game for sure.

On another subject, could you guys design the XMB music visualizers on 3D, it would be awesome to see the earth on 3D, popping out the TV! hehehe, you once mentioned it could had be of higher resolution, but memory space constraints on firmware made it difficult, can´t you offer it to download via PSN store?

Thank you guys you are great!

  • This game is has made its way into the G.O.A.T (Greatest of All Time) video games, EVER. The team at Q Games did an AWESOME job and High Frequency Bandwidth’s music is superb. Great job guys.

  • this game is awesome, very excited to play Lifelife!

  • Aquastorm really? Begging for cross game voice chat is getting very old and annoying….

I plan on buying this game as soon as I get another game card.

  • seriously. You know why there’s no cross chat? BECAUSE YOU KEEP ASKING FOR IT. They’re teaching you a lesson about being overly entitled brats. Shut up already it’s been asked for, they know people want it, if they can give it at some point they will, JUST STOP ASKING ALREADY!

  • hey dylan why is it that every time i see your name i think about a skull named look out?

  • Hi I have a quick question for the Q-Games guys or anyone else on here who could answer it, how exactly does the betting system work in the multiplayer?

I only ask this because I’ve played about 13 matches so far and I haven’t yet seen the option to place a bet, maybe I’m just overlooking it, but I’d very much like to know as that’s one the last two trophies I need to 100% the game.

Anyways great job on this game and every other game you guys have made and on your excellent podcast as well.

    • You gain the ability to bet once you have more than 50 space dollars and have “graduated” from the asteroid league. Then all bets are on! Watch out though, if you bet on a battle it can get *crazy* intense!

  • Finally a reason to buy Pixel Junk Shooter 2 :). I have been contemplating the whole week what to buy. I have 18$ still yet to spend.

  • hey dylan any word about a sequel of monsters?

  • I’ll try it.

  • Need to try this game

@Sephir007 yeah man I agree with you 100%…would be awesome to see music visualizers on 3D fasho.

  • The online aspect of this game has been fun so far. I wish you could team up with other players to make it more than 1 vs. 1 though…

  • Awesome, this game is so much fun! Also on Google +, I’m very excited to find out what that important reveal will be… more Monsters perhaps ;)

    • All will be revealed regarding that “leak” next week during Jesse Venbrux’s talk at Casual Connect, look forward to it!

  • THE MAIN REASON THE XBOX 360 AND XBOX LIVE KEEP KICKING SONYS ASS IN SALES AND POPULARITY?

THE LACK OF CROSS GAME VOICE CHAT AND A PARTY SYSTEM ON THE PS3!!!!!!

WHEN WILL SONY STOP IGNORING THE FACTS AND RESCUE THE PS3 FROM AN EARLY DEMISE BY IMPLEMENTING THESE MISSING CRUCIAL COMMUNITY FEATURES?

IS CROSS GAME VOICE CHAT NOT POSSIBLE ON THE PS3? WHY DON’T YOU COME CLEAN WITH THE COMMUNITY SONY AND ADDRESS THIS GIGANTIC PINK ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM?

  • That new map is AWESOME! It’s hilarious to know that your opponent is near and release complete destruction by creating a huge cave in with the blocks and explosions galore. Then just sit back and watch as he tries to avoid chaos :D Often times it is followed by a sound notification that he’s succumbed to the traps!

I’m glad I’ve finally been able to get quite a few matches in. The online is addicting and a ton of fun. Easily one of the best value for your money from a PSN game. An amazing single player, an online mode that will get you hooked, and a great soundtrack to accompany everything. Everyone needs this in their collection.

  • I’m so getting it with the summer sale.

  • @15 aquastorm

Get some perspective please, yet again! Cross Game chat is such an after thought now and with the generation with less than a year and a half left, no one is going to really pick at that subject anymore.

There are far more important things to worry about on PS3 than your ability to hold a conversation with a bunch of random individuals on different games. Such as focusing on the game experience, securing the network, and getting new features people will benefit from. If playing with the individuals who are busy talking to people in the same room as them who are doing other things is any indication, they are easy marks, and I don’t want them in multiplayer either co-op or competitive.

So give your nonsense a rest, you’re the last man standing making these statements. That should tell you something. Take your nonsense to PS4 when it will do the most good.
