Dead Block Hits PSN July 19th, Brains Needed

I’m writing for our small game development start-up Candygun Games based in Hamburg, Germany. We’ve just finished our first original game: Dead Block – A 1950’s Horror B-Movies inspired action defense game. I’m very happy to bring Dead Block to PS3 gamers via PSN on July 19th in the U.S!

Dead Block is a zombie game set in America’s 1950s during the birth of rock ‘n roll music — a music so bad, so evil that it summons the dead from their graves to eat brains! Luckily, you are protected inside a building and you know how to defend yourself with blockades and traps. The game is a third-person action strategy mix with an old-school B-movie horror theme and cartoon-inspired art direction. Dead Block doesn’t take itself too seriously; humor is a big part of the game’s presentation.

Dead Block for PS3 (PSN)

During gameplay, you’ll be trapped inside the building and you can use everything you find in order to build blockades and wicked traps. If zombies break in, players fight the intruders with smart bombs and rock ’n roll music. Single-player and up to four player split-screen is supported.

Candygun Games was founded in 2010 with a few friends. With the concept of Dead Block, it was easy to get the team together and to make our vision come true – being an indie studio that focuses on innovative downloadable games for consoles. Dead Block is our first title as an indie studio and we’re very excited! If you want to know more about our studio, please visit our official site. And if you want to know even more about Dead Block, read our huge developer Q&A on deadblock.com!

Finally, we have prepared a special Dead Block dynamic theme for PS3 owners, and it will arrive alongside the Dead Block demo and full game tomorrow. And keep an eye peeled on this blog post: Over the next few days, our Lead Designer Jens Jankuhn and I will check back here and respond to your questions. Please let us know all the questions you have about Dead Block!

  • Anyone know where the PSN update is at today?

  • Looks interesting. Wacky humour and zombies is a good formula in my books. Guess I’ll be checking this out when today’s update rolls around.

  • Are you guys planning any DLC for this game?

  • THE MAIN REASON THE XBOX 360 AND XBOX LIVE KEEP KICKING SONYS BUTT IN SALES AND POPULARITY?

THE LACK OF CROSS GAME VOICE CHAT AND A PARTY SYSTEM ON THE PS3!!!!!!

WHEN WILL SONY STOP IGNORING THE FACTS AND RESCUE THE PS3 FROM AN EARLY DEMISE BY IMPLEMENTING THESE MISSING CRUCIAL COMMUNITY FEATURES?

IS CROSS GAME VOICE CHAT NOT POSSIBLE ON THE PS3? WHY DON’T YOU COME CLEAN WITH THE COMMUNITY SONY AND ADDRESS THIS GIGANTIC PINK ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM?

  • everywhere i go i see people complainging about having local or online co-op or multiplayer. if the game has online co-op or multiplayer. people complain about not having local. if the game has local co-op multiplayer. people complain about not having online. make up your mind. not every single game out there has to have ethir online or local or both. sure you guys have the right to complain about stuff. but complaing about “its has local and no online” or vis versa. is redicalise. “dont have anyone to play with.” find somebody who will play with you, ask your real life Friends, ask your family if they can play with you. “game dosn’t have local.” Not every game has to have local. online multiplayer is great for being an anti-screen peakers and those who hate losing 50 to 75% of the screen when it comes to split screens.

so if you like the game but hate when they made one mode and not the other. enjoy the game. not everything has to revolve around the game having local, online, both, or neather.

  • Day one DLC, shame shame. Fool me once.

  • Wow sad to see so many disrespectful and hateful comments :/

personally i downloaded this demo and the limbo one out of boredom
after installing the demo i was glad to see it atleast had xmb music and surprisingly good music at that
whilst loading seeing the unreal ad/intro really caught me off guard in a great way,i luv pretty much every game ive played that uses that engine.
anyways, the game is very fun-i kept playing the same mission over and over xD
all gold medals and everything ^^
had a great time playing with friends via the splitscreen-laughing at ’em when they died >:]
only thing i worry about is it seems to have very few maps .__. and the limiting a character to only two players was an inconvenience :/

all in all give it a chance and you will most likely enjoy the game ^^
    buying it tomorrow :P
tyvm for making the game [:
it’s great, humorous gameplay is always good [: hope it atleast makes a profit so a better sequel will be seen
btw no online mp? so what :P itd be dull if it had online mp rather than splitscreen
