I’m writing for our small game development start-up Candygun Games based in Hamburg, Germany. We’ve just finished our first original game: Dead Block – A 1950’s Horror B-Movies inspired action defense game. I’m very happy to bring Dead Block to PS3 gamers via PSN on July 19th in the U.S.!
Dead Block is a zombie game set in America’s 1950s during the birth of rock ‘n roll music — a music so bad, so evil that it summons the dead from their graves to eat brains! Luckily, you are protected inside a building and you know how to defend yourself with blockades and traps.
I recently discovered a fun user-created track Meteor Base Attack by OnePoppa) only days after the release of the new Alien Invasion Mini-Theme DLC in which the following happened…
We’re gearing up for a full slate activities at San Diego Comic-Con 2011 and we wanted to give you a sneak peek at our schedule for the show, since we’re hoping you’ll be a part of it.
As you might expect, we’ll be demoing the latest content from our upcoming titles at our booth on the show floor (#4237). Come check out our booth and go hands-on with games including Resistance 3, Starhawk, UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception, Journey, Twisted Metal and more.
For a special treat, we’re busy putting the finishing touches on custom arcade cabinets for Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One that we’ll be unveiling at our booth this week.
That’s a 40″ Sony Bravia 3Dtv with 3D glasses, custom artwork from Insomniac Games and a set of illuminated custom DualShock 3 controllers painted with the colors of Ratchet, Clank, Qwark and Dr. Nefarious! We can’t wait to set this and the 2D model up on the floor. If you’re going to be at the show, be sure to let us know how the cabinets look and tweet a picture to @PlayStation.
The Danish game developers that make up Playdead bring their monochromatic 2D side-scrolling puzzler Limbo to PSN this week. Its game mechanics thrive on “trial and death,” so expect to be treated to a gruesome untimely death after failing its addictive puzzles. Who knew saving your little sister could be such a burden?
Sega brings Captain America into the third dimension with Captain America: Super Soldier on PS3 in 3D. You play as Ben McCall in Ubisoft’s vision of the Wild West hunting down the Cartel in a lawless Los Angeles in Call of Juarez: The Cartel. PSone Japan imports return, and minis dishes out 10 unique digital titles for your PSP and PS3.
Quench your summer thirst with this week’s The Drop.
The gaming release schedule is still in Summer Mode, but events season starts to pick up this week. We’ll be holding a media event in New York this week, so expect some updated previews to come from that. San Diego Comic-Con kicks of Wednesday night; we’ll have a full rundown of PlayStation panels here on the Blog tomorrow, as well as a preview of the booth. Don’t worry if you won’t be down in San Diego – we’ll be filming the panels and bringing highlights to you.
The PS.Blog weekly reading list (Week of July 11, 2011)
Lots to discuss this week, with a long-overdue update (our bad) on White Knight Chronicles II’s North American release date (tentatively scheduled for September!), a new behind-the-scenes Starhawk video and a Comic Con update, a slew of inFAMOUS 2 tutorial videos that will help you get started with the game’s extensive user-created mission tools, a new look at the visually stunning El Shaddai, and a first look at a new PlayStation Move title with Fast Draw Showdown.
