inFAMOUS 2: Festival of Blood for PS3 (PSN)

Hello there PlayStation.Blog readers! Hopefully, all of you inFAMOUS fans have had a chance to play plenty of the UGC missions since our June launch. Here’s a fun fact: Players have spent a total of 451,251 hours – or 51 years – playing those UGC missions. While those missions have kept you entertained, it’s now time for a major DLC announcement.

inFAMOUS 2 Festival of Blood will be a brand new standalone single player DLC for download via PSN. Vampires swarm New Marais, and revered superhero Cole MacGrath has been bitten. To save his soul – and the city – he has just one night to find and kill the head vampire. Featuring new missions, themed environment settings, plus new characters and enemies, Festival of Blood explores the darker side of the inFAMOUS universe. Previous inFAMOUS games will not be needed to play this DLC.

The DLC will swarm PSN in October, in time for Halloween. In the meantime, here is the first piece of high-res art and a new video teaser trailer during Pyre Night in New Marais. Enjoy!

No price details at this time.
You will not need the inFAMOUS 2 disc, Festival of Blood is a stand alone expansion.

Best part is that this is a single player add on. Will buy day 1 as I have been waiting for an excuse to jump back into inFamous 2.

I thought this a downloadable game, oh well. At least that’s what it sounded like at the Gamecom.

Would be great if you could buy this as a standalone game on PSN like the GTA episodes.

That is exactly what you can do. Festival of Blood is a standalone game for PSN. You don’t need inFAMOUS 2 to play Festival of Blood.

This is IMPRESSIVE…and thank god you guys didnt do something with ZOMBIES..im so tired of seeing it everywhere…being a Vamp seems so much fun. Although im “SHOCKED” – pun intended – that a vampire can even get close to Cole..would his electric powers just electrify the vamp and avoid him from gettin bit? oh well…im definitely getting this..ima SUCKER – pun intended too – for DLC especially coming from a GREAT GAME like Infamous 2..hopefully there will be a 3 and a PSV version too :p

+ KidCommando on August 16th, 2011 at 2:13 pm said:

looks very succulent.

Are there any karma choices/endings? instead of killing the head vampire, we choose to remain a vampire and suck New Marais dry!

Hope the pricing is more of a treat than a trick!!

Whew. Thank goodness you don’t need the old games since I traded in 2 after getting the platinum trophy! I can’t wait for this game/dlc!!

+ burningwind on August 16th, 2011 at 2:15 pm said:

This just sounds stupid. There is enough vampire crap out there. Only thing that would be worse is if they did zombies. The stand alone bit is also a bad idea. Give us a real add on like more powers or an expansion and not a stand alone story about vampires.

+ Marcellino on August 16th, 2011 at 2:16 pm said:

Guys… of course it’ll have trophy support — everything has trophy support now! Plus, be sure to pick up on the fact that this is not an Add-On, it’s standalone DLC from the sound of it, meaning you shouldn’t need to own inFAMOUS 2 to play this, sorta like Sackboy’s Prehistoric Moves.

Hope there are some new powers, that we can transfer to inFAMOUS 2.
And is that a new amp design in the artwork?

Pretty awesome; since it is set in Louisiana, will there be as much skin showing as in True Blood? :P

Not necessarily Marcellino. MotorStorm 3D Rift is a standalone release but offers no trophies. So it doesn’t hurt to ask ;)

Although not confirmed yet, it seems this game is going to be released at a price, if it is, if the game is worth it in quality and length and you keep the price 100% fair I will buy!

Dear Sucker Punch:

This announcement was the highlight for me of Gamescom so far. Yes, very excited.

Oh, and I keep forgetting to say something about I2 in any Sucker Punch blog: I love, love, love the way you start the game and that’s it. No more waiting through a bunch of advertising, no having to press start, wading through menu choices. Just x on the game disc icon, come back in a minute and Cole is all charged up and ready to rock n roll!

Wish more games copy you. And really looking forward to future Sucker Punch offerings.

Of all the stuff you could have added, you gotta jump on the vampire bandwagon?

I guess it’s only slightly better than zombies at this point.

I would have preferred something that hasn’t been done before a million times but who am I kidding? I’ll get it regardless.

I’m a bit confused with the term DLC. Do I need the install files, or if I would delete all files related from inFamous 1 & 2 I can still download an play this game?
