DIRECTV and PlayStation Bring NFL Sunday Ticket to PS3

Hello PlayStation Nation!

Are you ready for some football!

We are excited to announce that PlayStation has partnered with DIRECTV to bring its popular sports subscription service, NFL SUNDAY TICKET, to the PlayStation 3 game console. PlayStation owners across the country will now have the opportunity to watch every out-of-market Sunday game on their PS3.

DIRECTV and PlayStation announce NFL SUNDAY TICKET on PS3

How do you get in the game? At the start of the season, viewers who do not currently have access to DIRECTV will be able to subscribe to NFL SUNDAY TICKET at the season price of $339.95. Existing DIRECTV customers who already have NFL SUNDAY TICKET and NFL SUNDAY TICKET To-Go through DIRECTV can access the service on their PS3 for no additional charge.

NFL SUNDAY TICKET is a DIRECTV-exclusive sports package that offers:

  • Up to 14 NFL games every Sunday
  • Full HD for every football game
  • DIRECTV’s Red Zone Channel

We know that PlayStation fans are huge sports enthusiasts, so adding NFL SUNDAY TICKET is the perfect complement to the PS3’s rapidly growing lineup of sports entertainment, including MLB.TV and NHL GameCenter. We’ll have more info, including a video tutorial and sign up information on the blog shortly. I hope you’re as excited for the football season as we are.

  • sony is now saying via automated voice “due to large volume of caller sony will not be able to answer you call at this time, please try again later”

  • I just broke broke out rabbit ears and aluminum foil to watch the local game, damn you sony

  • I think I’m going to go wash my car, I’ll have a better time doing that.

  • Just got off the phone with Sony. They people who actually do refunds are only there monday -friday. The people I spoke with were very nice however. They told me that an email request is being sent to the “higher ups” so they can approve my request for a refund, however it is not 100% that I will get this refund.

They also told me that if it does go through, I will then have an 84 dollar credit at the playstation store instead of putting it back into my bank account. This is NOT acceptable business at all! I explained to them that ith this being such a wide spead issue and not a 10 dollar game we all think sucks, that they are going to have to refund this money to all of our accounts or they are going to have a law suit on their hands.

For all of our sake anyone who ordered this should call Sony now and do what I did so we actually get our money back not a 84 dollar playstation credit!

Also they will talk you through going in and canceling the “subscription” so your not charged another 84 bucks next month.

Sucks, I was really looking forward to this.

  • What a joke. They’re charging an insane amount of money and then literally providing nothing. I like how the “FAQ” suggests that you check to be sure your ethernet cord is plugged in properly. I’m sure that’s the problem.

  • This situation is incredibly frustrating. I’m one of those who bought a PS3 specifically to subscribe to NFL Sunday ticket. I would appreciate any advice on how to formally complain to SONY and receive a refund. I’m hoping this is just a one week problem. If not I’m looking pretty foolish having paid for both the PS3 and the subscription. I’ll want my money back for both.

  • and to call this HD is a complete lie even the 2 sec of footage I got

  • Just talked to Sony, they know there is a problem, they have engineers working on both sides, they are working on resolving this issue… also it has an alert on the sony website about this problem, it is affecting everyone….

  • what is the phone # to call SONY?

  • 1 800 345 7669

  • 1800-345-7669

  • Called earlier and Sony received an email stating all the issues. I was informed both teams are working as fast as they can. I expected some sort of issues, but minor ones at that. Not the entire service to not work. It’s unbelievable these two companies couldn’t get this right. No testing was done or what? I was so excited for this and now I am beyond disappointed. Sunday Ticket on PS3 is a complete and utter joke. Stay away from this if you haven’t bought it.

  • I’m new to PS3….what is the URL for the alert web site? thanks

We apologize that you are experiencing any issues with the NFL Sunday Ticket application. We are aware of the issue and we have engineers working on it from both the PlayStation and DirecTV sides. We are hoping to have the issue resolved soon.

Please try the application again later.

    We apologize for any inconvenience.

  • Please try the application later. When the games are over? Thanks Sony.

  • there working on it, sad it will be fixed when all the games are over

  • heh, i got about 5 plays in a row of the cincinnatti vs cleveland game… so if you want to watch the crappiest game on right now, there are just barely few enough people watching that one to allow it to work for about 90 second stretches at a time

  • Hey Guido…. the Browns are MY team… anyways if you want to stop the auto renew for the $84 just go to account management, transaction management, and then services…choose sunday ticket subscription and then cancel automatic renewal…. You might not get your $84, but you wont pay anymore for this sevice… I am gonna give it another week… and then I am stopping payments if I cannot watch again.. I also turned off the auto wallet thing too… I dont like that idea in the least… I would rather they didnt “automatically” take funds from me…

  • @ GuidoSpiducci: I was trying to watch that game. I guess you and me combined was too much for that game.. :-)

  • Only reason I bought this was to watch my Cardiac Kids in Texas. Sigh……

  • They have an hour and 25 minutes to fix it! Or else I have to head to the bar to see my game, minus $84 from my pocket! Thats wonderful!

  • im a brownie born and raised all

  • Could Guido and shadow stop watching the Cincy game so I can watch my Browns play for a little while? The three of us are killing that stream, LOL

  • Ya know, I just got excited for a bit. I have the Houston/Indy game on and picture has been perfect, no freezing, no skipping…..I was going to post “problem fixed”….then remembered I had turned off my ps3 and am watching regular cable TV!

  • I blame this 100% on Directv, worst company ever, crapping their pants under pressure. They did this to “increase revenue streams”, looks like we know why these guys will be going out of business… I am a bit hopeful that they will be able to fix this, just dont see that happening until next week. HORRIBLE FAIL!

  • one of us needs to stop watching the browns game, to much lag

  • RC – I switched over to Tampa – enjoy the Browns!

  • mgjiant – I’d say the platform owner who’s selling the service to their subscribers is ultimately responsible for testing and service delivery… Directv may suck, but regardless of what you think of them, it’s definitely Sony that &*@# the bed on this.

  • Thanks Guido ;-) LOL… I dont even think if there were only three of us on this service it would work well… LOL

  • Directv’s twitter updates show that all most of their Sunday Ticket services are down: http://twitter.com/#!/DIRECTV
According to their twitter account, no ETA.. FML

  • I agree with the HD reference. How is this HD? Basically they are saying they can call anything HD.

  • I’m frozen now on what appears to be a beer commercial – combined with the inability to watch games, it’s definitely making me want to drink.

  • The HD for me is ok… when I actually get a game to come on, it usually starts in crappy definition for about 10 seconds and then snaps into a nice crisp HD picture for about a minute before it freezes up.

  • I was just thinking the other day that I really needed to waste $84….. problem solved.

  • I like it when it cuts to a play, freezes, and then cuts back in time to a commercial break the preceded the play. It’s kind of like the movie Momento.

  • Even the network intrusion in April cost me less than this…. seems we have a bank account intrusion by Sony and Directv

  • Hey Sony – at $340 for the season, the refund you owe us for this week works out to $20. I’d take that as a wallet refund or a free game… don’t know about everyone else.

  • The only HD I’m getting is a picture of a Fiat 500! What a joke.

  • Or you can just say sorry, and I’ll think twice next generation about buying every console like I normally do.

  • This is total bs the only reason I got this is to watch the Texans it freezes up every 2 mins. and when its playing its horrible picture. ive only watched maybe 5 mins of the game.

  • @ Fincavigia… Most of the time when it freezes for me it cuts back to the first quarter, then a commercial, then back to the first quarter again, and then I finally get a frozen screen of the current quarter so I can check the actual score. It’s pretty pathetic that I’m now hoping for a frozen screen that’s atleast current so I can check the score.

  • This is complete BS. As of 12:20pm PST this service is still garbage. NFL Sunday SLIDE SHOW. Sony why do you have to suck so bad sometimes??? Can the playstation team do anything smoothly? Pathetic

  • I would like a horrible picture over it freezing all the time

  • Try both mayo this sucks bad if anyone know anys sites i can watch it on send me the link thru psn…

  • i know, it is frustrating

  • I think it helps if you pause it and wait a few. Also it seems to help if I reboot the ps2 every now and then

  • For $30 you can get full season live & archived audio of all games from NFL.com – that seems like a better deal right now :)

  • I have done the same thing it does help a little

  • I’ll get back on board, though, once Sony and Directv figure out this new fangled interwebs thing.

  • its a little better right now been 10 minutes since it has frozen
