DIRECTV and PlayStation Bring NFL Sunday Ticket to PS3

Hello PlayStation Nation!

Are you ready for some football!

We are excited to announce that PlayStation has partnered with DIRECTV to bring its popular sports subscription service, NFL SUNDAY TICKET, to the PlayStation 3 game console. PlayStation owners across the country will now have the opportunity to watch every out-of-market Sunday game on their PS3.

DIRECTV and PlayStation announce NFL SUNDAY TICKET on PS3

How do you get in the game? At the start of the season, viewers who do not currently have access to DIRECTV will be able to subscribe to NFL SUNDAY TICKET at the season price of $339.95. Existing DIRECTV customers who already have NFL SUNDAY TICKET and NFL SUNDAY TICKET To-Go through DIRECTV can access the service on their PS3 for no additional charge.

NFL SUNDAY TICKET is a DIRECTV-exclusive sports package that offers:

  • Up to 14 NFL games every Sunday
  • Full HD for every football game
  • DIRECTV’s Red Zone Channel

We know that PlayStation fans are huge sports enthusiasts, so adding NFL SUNDAY TICKET is the perfect complement to the PS3’s rapidly growing lineup of sports entertainment, including MLB.TV and NHL GameCenter. We’ll have more info, including a video tutorial and sign up information on the blog shortly. I hope you’re as excited for the football season as we are.

  • LAME!!!! Why don’t u guyz add support for my direct tv dvr media server files instead!!!!!!!!!!! The PS can already recognize the server, it can see all my recorded shows, but all the files are unsupported! Square peg in a round hole, AGAIN!!!!!!! Get it together Sony! While you’re at it, hurry up w the S.O.E – PSN platform merger (EA, Valve AND Facebook are goin’ 2 kick ur butt) !!!!

  • like everone in on this blog as 350$ to spare

  • I can’t believe its more then the actual console itself

  • you guys are stupid $349 for seasons tickets but it only cost $50 on the ps3

  • Yea 300 bucks is wayyyyy to much…

  • It’s cheaper than signing up to Direct TV for 2 years and paying $720 dollars more or less.

So although $339 is very expensive, its much more reasonable than $720 for 2 years….

  • Dude that price is freakin ridiculous. No way in hell. Is this some kind of a joke?

  • That’s the best news since BF3 announced its Oct 25th Release!!!!
I only have internet so it will be like I’m paying a cable bill for exactly what I want! Thanks guys at Sony u are KING OF CONSOLES N ENTERTAINMENT!!!

  • @206, $720 for 2 years of Direct TV gives you a lot more than one friggon channel.

  • Lol!!! Xbox 360 has sports for FREE with the ESPN app and XBLA Gold what a joke Sony…

  • yeah right no way i will pay this much keep dreaming sony

  • I can’t believe Sony thought their users would get excited about this @ that price. Sure it’s NFL, but jeeze people have priorities in this economy. Why pay $340 for something you can watch online for free anyway?

  • I have been WAITING for this, but I am not too stoked with what they did. I have the NFL Game Pass subscription on NFL.com and I want to be able to watch that through my PS3! This needs to be like with MLB.tv and NHL gamecenter, where we can use our previous subscriptions! I am not paying Direct TV 350$! Come on Sony! you can do better with this one!

  • is it 50bucks or 300 bucks

  • i would really love it…if they did this in payments….

  • We know that PlayStation fans are huge sports enthusiasts – Yes… we are… which is precisely why you should make this more easily accessible to us. We are huge sports enthusiasts, not huge idiots/morons. We know a piece of crap deal when we see one – I shed 600 bucks for your system when it came out because i got full time use out of, whenever I wanted. This – you get one day a week (except for that ONE game that takes place internationally – monday night football games are typically broadcasted for everyone so I don’t count that). Also, on paper it sounds good – 16 weeks or whatever… until you realize you are paying for ONE day’s worth. The way I look at it – I, for instance, am a New York Jets fan, but I live in the middle of the U.S., so I obviously don’t get those games on my TV unless they are playing other mid-states teams on my stations. Now, me being a fan of this team and not getting to see them play means I WOULD like to get something that allows me to see them play more, but at $300+ – no way.

  • Why would I pay that much for a whole bunch of other games that A) I don’t care about, and B) half of them are playing during the time that I’m watching the team that I like already. How many of you are seriously going to change your game with your favorite team on it, to go watch the other 4 games going on at the same time? Nobody gives a crap about the games that don’t include their team. What there should be, is some way in which a person can pay to “unlock” the season of games for their favorite team – because that’s all we watch anyways. Until it’s playoff time, there’s no reason to have those extra games that have nothing to do with your team.

  • Wait a minute…my directv sat is used at home. My ps3 is used at home. If I had it already why pay $50 more to watch at home?

I like the idea though but it ain’t gonna work for me..

  • Hmmm… I see we have some very eager suckers. Sorry. I mean to say we have some very eager “customers”. (lol) Bunch of boobs up in here is what I see. Like I said in my first post. There’s a sucker born every minute. Thankfully it’s true (because, where would the world be without an eager sucker to get licked?)

  • @215 – I agree. I hope they allow for a monthly payment plan option. Would totally jump on it if they offered that. Without hesitation.

  • you do realize that is the regular price for any DIRECTV suscriber, so that’s kinda how it works

  • I’ll just catch the replay on the NFL Network channel.

  • $340 is ridiculous and even if I had the NFL ticket why would I pay $50 JUST to watch it on my PS3?

    This is a giant rip-off.

  • i buying this day 1
    $350 is nothing

  • It looks like a great deal for non Direct TV guys. I wanna know what we’ll get with it. Replays, Highlights, etc. I’ll be keeping my eyes peeled.

  • its only around $21.85 a week for 16 weeks

  • i would pay this much money in a heartbeat me being a chargers fan living in illinois i never see them so im am highly considering this when it is available

  • football is boring I don’t even know why it’s call football in the first place they don’t even use their feet geeezzzz

  • LOL, I’m not rich! $340!?!?! Good gravy! That’s an atrocious price. It’s nice that people can do that tho…

And where did all these Eagles fans come from? Oh yeah, Free Agency… =] Enjoy watching them go 8-8 this year guys.

    GO FALCONS!

  • this is pretty cool, but I would much rather watch college football.

  • Sony you a freaking fool if you think I’m paying that much what is wrong with y’all this we still in a recession then it’s only the sports channels smh y’all would’ve been better off just offering all of direct TV for that and a extra PlayStation for this fail fail fail!!!!

  • WAY too overpriced!

  • Price seems high but it is the same price DirecTV customers pay. I doubt Sony has anything to do with it. I will most likely be buying it

  • Lol, at this time i am glad i am not in to sports geez that’s steep.

  • Hold on gang… think about this… #1: IF you have the ticket already, you are subject to local blackouts… how will they know WHERE you are located on Playstation? pay a measly $50.00 and… wow… no blackouts! #2 if you DON’T… you pay the same price as a DirecTV subscriber… and then… refer to #1 only drawback I can see is that you can’t spread the payments out… (ignoring the fact that Sunday Ticket is free for new customers at the moment) IMHO, this is a great deal brought to us by Sony… and they aren’t twisting any arms here.. just offering a special service unavailable ANYWHERE else (as far as I know) to football fans.. why bash on them for that… appreciate it when you are offered something like this.

  • hey Suby_Greg… I agree with you… I’ll be buying as well :) GO Pats!!!

  • OK yes it is expensive!!!! Would I pay it yes. WHY? because I don’t want to install a dish at my condo and it is cheaper. Yes I said it. It is cheaper. 24 months contract for direct tv with NFL Sunday Ticket free for first year is $39.95/month. Total 958.80 for the 24 months. PLUS NFL Sunday Ticket the following year ($334.95) brings the GRAND Total to $1293.75. That is much more expensive that $339.95 for two years which is $679.90. This is a $613.85 saving for me.

  • you guys are missing the point here this is for people that only have like one box in there home they already have sunday ticket so they spend 50 dollars to make there ps3 a box pretty much (thats the way i interpert it) but really its dumb if you have sunday ticket you should just get it on the ps3 as well…i have a box in my room as im sure most others do to (and i have an hd box so thats not gonna help either if thats what you want to argue oh but it will be hd) so whats the point of watching it on the ps3 when i can just watch it on tv….

  • Wow! NFL Sunday Ticket is amazing! even more amazing that the PS3 will support it!! $339.95 is a little uncalled for. I was considering subscribing to DTV specifically for the NFL Sunday Ticket since they’re offering it at no cost to new subscribers for the first season. I think Sony and DTV should let us give it a try maybe for the first couple Sundays.

  • @210 you stupid? Sony does not set the price. Direct TV and NFL are always expensive. this will sell PS3’s in the US, football is huge and people will pay this amount.

  • @231 again, sony does not set the price of Sunday ticket, the NFL and direct TV do.

  • @210, BTW, ESPN is a garbage sports network.

  • $340 plus $50 equals $390. Is Direct TV serious? Do people pay that kind of money to watch football? I think $50 would be a bit expensive.

  • if you pay 340 you dont need t pay the other 50, LMAO, is everyone illiterate? The 50 is only if you already have ticket.

  • Monthly payments would help me take the leap. $340? I mean I want to. Monthly payments Sony and you have yourself a deal.

  • OMG…..$339 is way too much. I would add this app in an instant if it was more reasonable. Crazy!

  • Toeo much money……..I’ll pass.

  • $340 to watch a bunch of football on TV? Not. A. Chance. I gave up on tv years ago and haven’t regretted it at all thanks to games and Netflix. Give me just the channels I want at a magazine’s subscription price and we might be in business again.

  • its funny hearing some of yall complain, i bet most of yall buy MMO games and spend well over this amount a year on micro transactions, if you dont like it dont comment, simple.
