DIRECTV and PlayStation Bring NFL Sunday Ticket to PS3

Hello PlayStation Nation!

Are you ready for some football!

We are excited to announce that PlayStation has partnered with DIRECTV to bring its popular sports subscription service, NFL SUNDAY TICKET, to the PlayStation 3 game console. PlayStation owners across the country will now have the opportunity to watch every out-of-market Sunday game on their PS3.

DIRECTV and PlayStation announce NFL SUNDAY TICKET on PS3

How do you get in the game? At the start of the season, viewers who do not currently have access to DIRECTV will be able to subscribe to NFL SUNDAY TICKET at the season price of $339.95. Existing DIRECTV customers who already have NFL SUNDAY TICKET and NFL SUNDAY TICKET To-Go through DIRECTV can access the service on their PS3 for no additional charge.

NFL SUNDAY TICKET is a DIRECTV-exclusive sports package that offers:

  • Up to 14 NFL games every Sunday
  • Full HD for every football game
  • DIRECTV’s Red Zone Channel

We know that PlayStation fans are huge sports enthusiasts, so adding NFL SUNDAY TICKET is the perfect complement to the PS3’s rapidly growing lineup of sports entertainment, including MLB.TV and NHL GameCenter. We’ll have more info, including a video tutorial and sign up information on the blog shortly. I hope you’re as excited for the football season as we are.

  • Really the price isn’t that bad.. It compares to Direct Tv’s cost for the service even if you are a Direct Tv customer.. With this price you don’t have to be a direct tv customer or a customer of any tv service… You could completely cut out cable! With all the internet tv, hulu, netflix etc and now 14 games of live football all in HD, you don’t need cable and the 200 channels of junk. For die hard football fans that love watching THEIR team then it’s worth it. If you live some where else like me for example you have to go out and find a bar that plays your game (My team: Pittsburgh Steelers, I live in Missouri). It’s great to go out and socialize, but if I spend 20 bucks on food and drink weekly to watch the game out some where, well the subscription is PAID for right there!! So really for live football in HD, without having to sign up for a dish or cable subscription and a two year contract, I think it’s worth it!!

  • Sony I do not know if you guys read this stuff that everyone says but, if you read them all the point of most of them are the price is too high. Look I have a good job and to pay for this but that is even high for me. I would like to see alot more enterainment on the Ps3 as far as bring just live T.V and other streaming content. Me and my coworkers talk about what is better for live content on the Ps3 or the Xbox and you can take your pick, I’m just saying……….

  • Sure the price is “High”. But if you add that the NFL Package is $180 normally, and that cable or satellite is $50 (or more) a month. If all you want is the NFL games, the price is fair. Still $340 stings a little to the wallet, but it is a reasonable price.

  • This will work, but for those who only have directv so they can have nfl sunday ticket, this would be cheaper then paying for your bill in the second year of your contract. Dont know how many ps3 owners fall under this category though.

  • Or those who dont have access to directv, doi stupid omission

  • For a lot of people living in condos or apartments or who rent homes and are not allower to have a dish this makes perfect sense. It also makes sense for someone who hates contracts just as much as he hates xbox. I’m sure someone out there has been to an actual game. Two tickets in Chicago to a Bears game is around $500 for the cheap seats. No, not everybody can afford this and it’s not for everybody. A monthly fee thru the PS Store would greatly increase your subscriptions, or at least I’d do it then. I may do it anyway, if I could just hide it from the wife…but she’d find out for sure. And for anybody who doesn’t like football, well, you’re just not too bright. Football is the greatest game in the universe and one of God’s greatest accomplishments. Yes, football is the product of divine providence. =] GO BEARS!!!! PACKERS SUCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I didn’t like anything on my welcome back package, how about you just give me this instead :)

  • I was really excited to see this – I have Dish network (had DirectTV for 15 years, but Dish became a better offering for a lot of reasons for us) and the only thing I missed was Sunday Ticket. But this is more than I paid on DTV by about $100, and $25 per game is enough to make it a “Pass” rather than the automatic “Buy” it would normally be for me.

Bottom line, it’s about $100 more than I’m willing to pay. I suspect they would make more money by making it cheaper by about that much, and getting a lot more subscribers.

  • One good thing that could come out of this is the PS3-PSP connectivity function.

  • would anyone really watch it on a psp or ps vita no not really

  • this works out to 21.25$ per game if you watch all 16 on here.. or 24.29 ish for 14 games if you live in a division rival’s market…

That’s not too bad. My brother and I could split the cost and we would be able to watch the Redskins on my tv at home… That’s not bad.

(albeit, it’s like 100 some odd bucks for MLB’s package that allows you to watch any out of market game..)

  • It’s basically the same price that DirectTV charges their users and they sell a ton of the Sunday Ticket. I think I’m going to do it.

  • I could possibly interested in this if I split the cost with some buddies. But I’m just curious how the streaming is going to be? I know some other people out there subscribe to the MLB service, how is the streaming with that? The Hulu streaming from a PS3 blows, however Netflix streaming is great!

Anyone have experience with the MLB streaming?

  • Dude… the math in this thread is atrocious. The NFL season is 18 weeks long. 14 games a week. that means we get about 280 games. This a cost of $1.25 per game.

Not the ideal price, but if I could split the cost with a few friends, I can see myself doing it.

  • well the $340 is the price of it but directv gives you it in 5 payments of 66.99 , sony should do the same thing here n do payments i know nobody going to want to shell out 340 in one shot. n for people who already have directv with sunday ticket why do you want to pay an extra $50. N if people think the price is too high right now then just sign up to directv right now cause they are offering sunday ticket FREE to new customers.

  • I just went over the costs with my wife and I think we’re gonna do it. She reasoned that even 4 weeks out at the bar watching Redzone or any other game would cost MORE than an entire season. Now imagine going out 2-3 days a week to watch football for 17 weeks.

  • @264

    Check yourself on the math

    17 weeks

14 Sunday Games max they can televise due to Football Night In America on NBC and Monday Night Football on ESPN. When Thursday night football kicks in it drops down to 13 games max because of NFL Network.

  • Guys before you assume the 50 dollar price tag for DirecTV subscribers, look into it first. If you have Sunday Ticket already, this comes at NO EXTRA COST! But if you have DirectTV and no NFLST, then it’s only 50 bucks/month.

  • They had to change the post. It clearly said there was a $50 charge now there is no mention of $50 anywhere on the blog and it is accessible at no additional charge.

  • aww come on PS3 little to pricey! ill keep watching FROM OVER SEAS ON MY PS3 FOR FREE CALLED SKYSPORTS TV!!! they get it all for free on there cable channels its how I watch UFC also! HOW ABOUT A FAV TEAM MODE??? $99.00 for all 16 games??? I swear you should hire me PS3 I could market anything and everything! tell me you dont agree PS3 users, would you spend $99.00 to see every game of your fav team? no one wants to see the skins vs panthers, so why charge me for it??? let me just watch my TEAM!! GO CHIEFS!!! :-) so if u want my money and these 100000000 other peoples ull consider TEAM MODE FOR CHEAPER PRICE. or SKY SPORTS FROM EUROPE IS WHERE ILL STAY

  • Soooo glad i dont use DirecTV..Such a lame a s s waste of money unless you live in the boonies whee there is no cable…Oh btw..searching for signal….

  • where*

  • Hey directv i am currently offline psn i cant get back online because ur company gave use a motam that has no internet plugs out i cant hock up my wireless to it so i cant play cod or uncharted and enjoy playing online ive been off 3 to 4 weeks how much will a new motam cost and how much will it cost to have someone hock up my wireless?

  • IN ORDER TO BY-PASS A ONE TIME FEE OF 50 DOLLARS, YOU ALREADY NEED TO BE SUBSCRIBED TO NFL SUNDAY TICKET TO-GO. IF YOU HAVE SUNDAY TICKET BUT NOT SUNDAY TICKET TO-GO, YOU WILL NEED TO PAY A ONE TIME FEE OF 50 DOLLARS TO ACCESS SUNDAY TICKET ON THE PS3!!!

  • And BTW, Sony doesn’t control the price of Sunday Ticket, DirecTV does. This is their subscription service, not Sony’s.

  • Oh YEA…Die Hard Eagle fan in NYC..I will be getting this…I send the $350 after 2 times at the sports bar to watch the game.
When does it start..and does it include the NFL network…Eagles play one game in December and it is on NFL network. At least when the Eagles are playing Monday or Sunday night I can watch other then Jets and Giants..

    SO WHEN DOES IT START

    So great…E A G L E S

    SSEYEYYAAA

  • I REALLY HOPE A CREDIT CARD IS NOT A MUST TO BUY. AND I WAS WONDERING I HAVE DIRECT TV, AND SOMETIMES THEY GIVE NFL TICKET FREE FOR A WEEK OR SO FOR PROMOTIONS. WILL THE PROMOTIONS WORK FOR PS3 AS WELL? AND WOULD PS3 USER BE NOTIFIED IF SO?

  • that way to much

  • its like buying ps3 with a game

  • Wrong football. There’s no ball or feet involved in that sport. The words you’re looking for are carryegg or throwmelon.

  • My Bro and I will bring our tv’s from our rooms with our PS3’s and set them up on both sides of our TV in the living room and have 3 games going at once! BALLA! Haha going to be so sick this season. So glad I already have NFL Sunday Ticket and Ticket To Go!

  • 340 for out of market games is bull. why the hell would i spend 340 bucks to watch everybody else,s team.

  • what is with some of these people tryin to insult AMERICAN!!! football? and their so weak, lol. carry egg or throwmelon?

this is America! where football is a bunch of huge a s s dudes smashin into each other n beatin the crap out if each other until whoever scores the most points n wins… we dont really care for all that fancy foot work n dancin around tryin to kick a ball into some goal.

  • 17 games x $20 = $340.00 Sounds like a deal to me. i would spend $20 at the bar watching the games.

  • Wow – the NFL is full of themselves… Let’s break it down.. MLB 164 possible games for your 1 favorite team or a total of 2,460 games to possibly watch for a total of $100.00 OR you can get the Sunday Ticket where not all 256 games will be televised through DirecTV (like Thursday Night, Sunday Night, and Monday Night) for $300.00. I love football and used to be a Sunday Ticket subscriber, but the NFL needs to get back to reality. What a rip off.

  • Who wants to watch baseball on TV though, except old men? It literally is the most boring TV sport ever.

  • for those who want to get it in canada, bell charges 200 bucks (50 per month), susbcribe to it with bell or check with your provider cause its cheaper than this

  • its really not over priced guys think bout it 16 weeks of foootball, no cable box, no sattelie, no instatalion fees, no contracts, you pay per year if you don want it next year non buyt it, and me being a 49ers fan in philadelphia makes it totally worth it

  • give us first month free than i will buy it

  • why the regular season hasnt started yet and guys rememver sony dosent make the prices like with there exclusive stuff this is direct tvs prices use your heads guys lol

  • What if i have DTV but not the NFL Ticket. Can I still get this on my PS3 for 50 bucks? Cause there’s no way I’m dropping $340 on this.

  • no if you havent suscribed to nfl sunday package on direct tv its still the same price again use your head

  • I LOVE IT! But, the price, come on now..

$340 Bucks IS A LOT..But we haven’t heard all the details yet. While I, and I’m sure thousands of others are very tempted by this, BUT, not having being able to watch other games, after they have been played is crap. Yeah its gr8 to see any game you want on Sunday, but when ytour home teams are done, seeing the games during the week is great catch up and a hug benefit….

I just got FIOS and while pre season blows, it is nice that i can see any game replayed..

I’m thinking about it, but, SONY, it would be REALLY SWEET AND WOULD SHOW A LOT OF THANKS IF YOU GAVE THE PLAYSTATION PLUS MEMBERS A LARGER DISCOUNT!!

NOW THAT WOULD MAKE US ALLLLLLLLLL HAPPY!

  • this is something ive wanted to see added to the PS#3 but for $340 where the hell is Kevin Butler when u need him

  • I was figuring it out. If I go to the sports bar and watch games. I would have to go about 6-8 times for a eagle game. I spend about $70. So if 6 games $420, if I go for 8 games $560…and at least if I get the ticket, I can hear the play by play. So I think I am going to try it the first year. But does the NFL ticket include the nfl Network? I want to make sure at least that is included. And when the Eagles are on regular tv, I would not be stuck with watching Giant-Jets games.

Also when is it going to start? Is it this year? Should I hook up my PS3 wired or will the wifi be enough?

    SEEYYAAA

  • Pay $340 just to have the PS3 get the YLOD in the middle of the season? LOL, no thanks!!!! This will cost lots of people $540 before the Playoffs (Price + cost to repair PS3).

  • Non-subscribers will have to pay $339.95 to get the NFL Sunday Ticket.
Current subscribers to DIRECTV will only have to pay $50 for the NFL Sunday Ticket.
If you already subscribe to both, you won’t have to pay any additional charges.
At least this is what one site is saying
    http://www.gamingexcellence.com/ps3/news/3480.shtml

  • If you already have Sundsy ticket it’s no additional cost! if you have directtv and dont have sunday ticket its $50. If you sign up for Directv you have to pay up front for the equipment, a deposit(based on credit), which is gonna run you almost as much as the sports package AND you are locked into a subscription plan (like cell phones). so i think this PS3 deal is great! My wife and I can watch both of our teams and not spend the extra money going to the sports bar!

  • Dude, that’s saving like $300.00 from going to the sports bar if you spend say $40.00 a week there! food will cost you $10-15 and a couple of beers…YOU CAN DO IT HOME CHEAPER!!! and not have to subscribe to Directv!

  • LOL!! I might love football but I wouldn’t pay no 340.00 your out of your mind…that was a smart move..100.00 its better just like MLB..340.00 I rather go watch them live for that money…I PASS!
