continued:

...and that's sort of where the genre died... at least for me. I gave up.. nothing could top how much fun I had in TM2.

I bought the PSP version of TM when I first bought the thing.. and I actually did enjoy it. Some of the classic levels were there with some changes (though, I'll be honest, I wasn't a big fan of the changes).

So.. you can probably guess why I'm a little apprehensive about this new Twisted Metal. I want to love it SO BADLY... I want it to recapture the charm and excitement of TM2.. but I think its also pretty obvious that such a thing is not possible.

So, instead.. I'm just hoping that when I play it.. I'll enjoy it. I have to try it. I have to give it a good, honest chance. I still love the genre, and I have a lot of faith in David Jaffe... who was the designer of TM2. This trailer showed some fun mayhem.. and I feel like.. yeah.. I can dig it.. Following this game VERY closely.

Twisted Metal and Twisted Metal 2 were the games that convinced me to buy my first video game console - a PlayStation!

...I really loved the car combat genre.. and when Single Trac split off and made Rogue Trip, I bought that as well.. and it was really Zany and fun.. Meanwhile 989 Studios took over the Twisted Metal Series.. and I actually thought they did a relatively good job with Twisted Metal 3.. though it was a large step down from Rogue Trip.. and even RT couldn't compare to TM2. For a while I was REALLY into the series called Vigilante 8... the physics were much more realistic.. and the level design was a lot different from the others.. so that was cool. I got V8:2ndOffence (i think it was called)... and enjoyed it as well, but ultimately that series didn't have the same charm as TM2... I didn't bother with TM4. I got TM:Black.. but for some reason it just never resonated in the same way as TM2 did. Though, I still enjoyed the experience.

I don't mean to be rude, but I think you have forgotten what a PS2 game looks like. Twisted Metal was never a huge graphical achievement it was all about the fun game play, and addictive car combat fighting.

This is what a Twisted Metal PS2 game looks like.
