The Dead Island Total Game Integration continues in PlayStation Home as the second wave of the zombie horde is unleashed this week. Head to the Central Plaza this Thursday, August 25th and craft a new weapon – the Double Axe (which, by the way, allows for one of the coolest finishing moves in this game). Then get to hacking, slashing, bludgeoning, shooting, decapitating, and dismembering swarms of zombies in a series of bloody, hyper-violent challenges that allow you unlock a host of unique rewards – including the exclusive “Exploding Zombie Meat” weapon for use in Dead Island. Help the community reach 20 million kills and we’ll give everyone a special severed zombie head virtual item. What are you waiting for? Our search for the cast of The Tester: Season 3 continues! Today, community voting begins so anybody can now help select the one lucky gamer who will get a chance to compete for the production job at Sony’s Santa Monica Studio.

You may recognize Executive Producer Jason DeLong on Need for Speed: The Run from our live E3 show, which we streamed live from our PlayStation booth earlier this year. Interactive cinemas, fast cars and loud tunes propelled The Run at E3, but all along EA Black Box was quietly scheming to reveal more at gamescom.
In my play session, I chased after a pearl white Laborghini Aventador down a treacherous mountain road on Independence Pass in Colorado. Then it happened: I found myself staring at an oncoming avalanche from behind the wheel of my car, plowing and drifting through chaos while I sat comfortably in a dark room at EA’s show floor. I couldn’t help but smile after my demo session with Need for Speed: The Run, knowing that I finally got to play a true-to-forml Michael-Bay-inspired Hollywood action racer on my PS3.

It has been a wild and crazy few months since we announced in May. E3s, Comic-Con, Gamescom…and now PAX and MLG! It has really been an incredibly exciting time for us and we truly appreciate all of your support. We announced the title back on May 5th at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin, TX, and it’s been a sweet ride ever since!
It’s easy for us to tell everyone how cool the game is, but we think it’s much more believable if it comes from the fans directly. So, I’ve included a video from some of our great fans at San Diego Comic-Con a few weeks ago right after they got to play the game. Here’s what they had to say!
Next up is PAX Prime in Seattle this weekend, August 26th – 28th. We’ll be on hand to show off our new space station level, the same environment we showed Gamescom last week….but it damn well deserves an encore.

I went to Germany once. I visited a castle, ate schnitzel – all things you should do as a guest of that fine country. However, the most fun I had was when my exchange family set up a massive LAN party and we played games for 12 hours straight! It was then and there I realized that Germany is ground zero for videogames.
So for this year’s gamescom conference, the Insomniac crew hopped across the pond to show off our anticipated fall titles, including Resistance 3. By now, you’ve probably seen the beautiful new Olly Moss-inspired trailer, right? If you haven’t, I’m giving you permission to stop reading this blog for a second to watch it. After that you can check these all new screenshots. They show the blissfully creepy side of Resistance 3. I don’t know about you, but I wouldn’t want to take a stroll (or even a sprint) through those areas.

PlayStation Store Update

The first title of PlayStation Network PLAY is finally here! Street Fighter 3: Third Strike Online Edition hits the PlayStation Store today. As part of PSN PLAY, purchase this title before 9/19/2011 and receive free access to DLC in the form of Gill, the self-proclaimed god, without having to beat the game with every character. For those that pre-ordered, check your XMB messages and hit the link to start your download; or simply head into the Store and download. As a reminder, you can still pre-order the other titles of PSN PLAY to get your extra gift. The Baconing, BloodRayne: Betrayal, and Renegade Ops are all in the wings, along with 20% PlayStation Plus discounts for each if pre-ordered or purchased before 9/19/2011.
Other notable PSN releases include Hamilton’s Great Adventure. Navigate the gorgeous environments of this harrowing platformer/puzzler in the demo, or purchase the full game. The 16-bit classic Comix Zone is also now available for all PSN to download with full Trophy support.
