Hi everyone and Guten tag from Cologne, Germany! Some of you may know me as one of the collaborative partners with SCEA Santa Monica Studios for the award-winning PlayStation Network exclusives, Fat Princess and Fat Princess: Fat Roles. I’m not only here to introduce Fun Bits Interactive to you, but to also introduce Escape Plan, as one of the upcoming titles for the PlayStation Vita. Escape Plan made its debut on Tuesday at the Sony Computer Entertainment Europe press conference and I have to express how thrilled I have been to see how well it has been received by colleagues and media alike throughout the week.
Placing bite-sized entertainment in the palm of your hands, Escape Plan features two hapless characters, Lil and Laarg, who have been captured and need your influence, skill and brainpower to escape from a dark labyrinth of irreverent puzzles and traps. Escape Plan takes advantage of the PlayStation Vita’s multi-touch display, rear touch panel and swipe interfaces.
Ever since the PS Vita was unveiled in January, the handheld’s dual analog sticks have promised a proper first-person shooter experience on the go. The reveal of Resistance: Burning Skies at PlayStation’s gamescom press conference showed that the future of portable shooters will be bright from the outset.
Immediately after the conference ended, I met up with Rob Heubner from developer Nihilistic, who detailed some of what we can expect from the Vita’s first FPS foray. The next morning, Huebner and producer Frank Simon presented an extended play-by-play for international media.
A few weeks ago, our Sid Shuman delivered an in-depth report on LittleBigPlanet 2’s upcoming Move Pack, and how it makes level design even more intuitive.
This morning in Cologne, Germany we ran into a couple of Media Molecule members at breakfast (the pastries were delicious). We asked if they’d be interested in running us through the new tools on camera. Media Molecule Level Design Lead Kengo Kurimoto stepped forward with a quick demo.
How cool was that cel-shaded Sackboy? That’s one of six new costumes based on iconic art, and it’s included when the Move Pack drops next month.
Like UNCHARTED
If you were one of the hundreds of thousand of fans that tuned into our E3 2011 PlayStation press conference, you may have caught Naughty Dog’s Community Strategist Arne Meyer give viewers a full demo of UNCHARTED 3’s cruise ship sequence, a tense scenario that married technical prowess and high action as Drake struggled to escape the doomed vessel.
Today, Naughty Dog has returned with another epic reveal. Spread the word: the PlayStation.Blog is the only place you’ll find HD video of the airstrip sequence from the gamescom PlayStation press event. For an added bonus, Arne and I discuss the challenges behind keeping UNCHARTED 3 as spoiler-free as possible, and how specific sequences are deliberately designed to reveal new game mechanics, story and characters at specific milestones in the game’s development process.
Heya PlayStation Assassins! Gamescom, the world’s largest trade fair for interactive games and entertainment, has begun in Cologne, Germany. First off, on the show floor, the Assassin’s Creed Revelations booth will feature EIGHT gaming pods equipped with a new multiplayer build. This will be the very first time we’re showing this build to the public, and it will be the first time anyone outside of exclusive members of the press can get their hands on the all new Deathmatch mode! And don’t worry if you can’t wedge your way to the front of the line for multiplayer at our booth, because we’ll also have four additional multiplayer pods at the PlayStation booth to ensure that everyone at the show gets a chance to enjoy a fully updated version of one of the most innovative multiplayer games on the market.

The latest in a series of on-going PlayStation Home “Total Game Integration” content offerings, this special event allows players to unlock an exclusive weapon for use in Dead Island by completing all 10 challenges in a PlayStation Home game based upon Deep Silver’s highly anticipated open-world horror action/adventure title. We’ve put together a list of challenges to help guide you through the undead mayhem as well as quick video that shows the gory and ghoulish action included in the Dead Island TGI event, available right now in PlayStation Home.
Gamescom has been amazing. However, something is still missing – an unyielding void in the soul of Resistance that needs to be filled. Something cold. Something unyielding. Something… Sledgehammery? Yes, that’s it! We need to show you the Sledgehammer, Resistance 3’s brutally blunt new melee weapon. Here – let me summon the video gods and see if they can whip something up for the latest R3 Dev Diary.
By George (or Rey), they’ve done it! Our all-new Resistance 3 Dev Diary features the first gameplay footage of Capeill’s intimate side – intimate as in he’s close enough to Grims to smash in their deformed faces with a giant Sledgehammer. It’s pretty wicked (except if you’re a Grim).
