We’re just about a month away from the launch of UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception and I’m sure everyone’s craving a Taste for Adventure. Yes, I just said that. We’ve been working with our friends at SUBWAY to help satisfy these cravings with a promotion that’s never been done anywhere else, ever! Beginning this Saturday, if you go into a local SUBWAY Restaurant and purchase one of the specially marked UNCHARTED 30 oz drinks, you will receive a code that will provide you with access to the full competitive multiplayer experience throughout the month of October. Don’t believe me? Check out the official word from our favorite adventurer, Nathan Drake.
The full competitive multiplayer experience, which begins Saturday, October 1st, at 12:01am Pacific Time, will give you the chance to dive into the fun and get a head start on leveling up your profile while learning all of the new UNCHARTED 3 multiplayer maps before the full game is released on Tuesday, November 1st.
Earlier this week, I was treated to a new demo of the rapidly approaching military shooter Battlefield 3, which promises to raise Battlefield’s sprawling formula to soaring new heights. After watching a 10-minute demo of the game’s campaign running on PS3, I secured a few minutes with DICE Producer Patrick Liu to address some questions from PlayStation community members…plus a few of my own!

PlayStation Blog: There are a lot of military shooters these days. What’s the biggest thing Battlefield 3 is bringing to the table?
Sony Online Entertainment is really making its mark on PSN this fall. Rolling out alongside the excellent Rochard and the highly-anticipated PAYDAY: The Heist, Sideway: New York brings an impressive visual flourish to 2D platformers. Painted protagonist Nox keeps switching planes in 3D as he hugs the walls and jumps from building to building. Take a look at the trailer.
At last week’s Fantastic Fest in Austin, I caught up with Scott Simpson, director of Canadian developing studio Playbrains (and blog comment-reply record holder with a 100% reply rate!). While he’s answered most of the questions out there, Sideway still holds few more details yet to be revealed, including bite-sized, intra-level time trials to earn collectables and “birds that poop bombs.” I recorded our conversation as we played through some of the game’s early levels.
Hey there PlayStation Land! I’m, here to tell you what to expect when NBA Jam: On Fire Edition hits PSN this Tuesday for $14.99. NBA JAM: On Fire Edition is all about three things: Value, Gameplay, and Community.
We wanted to make NBA JAM: OFE an irresistible item for PS3 owners, something all your friends are going to be playing… and, if they’re not, we want you to tell them “Get this game! You’re crazy not to!” Your $14.99 gets you a co-operative campaign against all 30 NBA teams (and some special teams too!); a competitive online mode that will give everyone a chance to be the best, every week; and a deep and persistent career system that unlocks the most teams, legends, and other swag than has ever appeared in an NBA Jam game ever before. For less than the price of a movie and a bucket of popcorn, you can get in on this without ever leaving your living room!
Transformers: Dark of the Moon unleashes onto the video store today in New Releases. Three years after the events of the second film, the Decepticons embrace new technology to enslave humanity. Shia LaBeouf (Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps), Josh Duhamel (Life As We Know It), John Turturro (Cars 2), Tyrese Gibson (Fast Five) and Victoria’s Secret model Rose Huntington-Whiteley lead the human side of the cast.
The thrilling action film Set Up hits the store this week starring Bruce Willis (RED) in Movies. When a heist goes bad, one man teams with the most dangerous man in town to seek revenge Ryan Phillippe (The Lincoln Lawyer), 50 Cent (13) and Randy Couture (The Expendables) round out the cast.
99 Cent Movie Rents continues in Rent Now with rentals for just 99 cents in SD or $1.99 in HD! Be sure to regularly check our site for what titles are featured each week.
What’s the first thing that comes to mind when you hear the words “Chrono Trigger?” I’m sure a lot of things, but I bet the first thing on your mind right now is “When can I get it?”
We’re happy to confirm that Chrono Trigger is coming to the PSN in North America on October 4th. That’s right—in just a few days, you’ll be able to visit (or re-visit, as I’m sure is the case for many of you) one of the most hilarious and unique casts of characters ever assembled in an RPG:
Crono: The spiky-haired, stoic protagonist who finds himself wrapped up in events beyond his control. He’s pretty good with a katana and doesn’t run from a fight.
Starting now, we are happy to invite all PS3 players to the much anticipated Battlefield 3 Open Beta! Played on the Operation Metro map in Rush mode that won us Best Action Game and Best Multiplayer Game at E3, this is your chance to experience one of many flavors of Battlefield 3.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your great interest in this Open Beta. By joining, you will help us stress test servers, allow us to run important tests on the game’s back-end and Battlelog. Remember that this software is in Beta and does not represent the game’s final quality — you’ll have to wait for October 25th for that! For a full FAQ on the Open Beta, head here.
We hope you’ve been enjoying the Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One Limited Beta over the last couple of weeks, and we’re excited for you to get your hands on the full game this October 18th. Recently, we’ve released videos showing off the different elements of the game, including a particularly epic spot focused on the light-eating Z’Grute boss that our heroes (and villain) must battle in the city of Luminopolis.
This latest video we want to share takes place on the Aldaros Plains, one of the first areas you’ll explore on Planet Magnus. This is an area of the planet where the rules of gravity seem to be bent, and floating islands of rock make up the shifting landscape. The boss here is a gigantic creature called an Octomoth. If the name doesn’t give you an immediate idea of what this fearsome creature would be like, watch the video above!
