Dead Nation Expands With “Road of Devastation” DLC

We hereby announce exciting news for Dead Nation players around the globe! We’ve been hard at work creating a new downloadable expansion called “Road of Devastation”! Before we say more, we’ll take this moment to acknowledge an epic milestone in the number of zombies killed worldwide: over 11,700,000,000 – and counting! To put that number in perspective, that’s more than 1.5 times the entire world’s population of today (though the game takes place in the near future where Earth’s population has grown much bigger…so don’t worry, there’s still plenty of zombies left).

Also, our worldwide recruit count has risen to over 3.8 million! We wish to humbly thank all the people who have supported the game.

Now, onto Road of Devastation:

Egogate_Room

From the ashes of the apocalypse, an organization has worked in the shadows, tampering with the human gene, modifying and improving upon it to create the perfect soldier, the ultimate zombie-killing machine – you! Continuing from the events where the original game left off (or, is it actually the other way around…), Road of Devastation will put your skills to the ultimate test. You’ll find yourself waking up in a laboratory with only one way out. Outside the door you’re presented with a choice – a crossroads leading to three different paths, each with their own unique environments, challenges and enemies waiting for you. If you manage to overcome the challenges, just when you think it’s over, you’ll make a startling revelation…

In addition to the range of enemies and weapons you’re already familiar with from the original game, Road of Devastation will present you with a variety of new tools and equipment to dispose of enemies with, while also introducing new enemies and obstacles you’ll encounter in unique new environments.

Stay tuned as we reveal more info and details on the blog soon. Keep up the fight, your country needs you!

  • I played through Dead Nation three times (including on the hardest difficulty setting) so this is a day one purchase for me provided the price is reasonable (10 bucks or less).

  • Great guys! That’s how it should be, developers supporting their games for a long time =), at least if they want their game to continue selling and if they want people to play them for a long time, that’s also good for your fan base, the weight your games and franchise have and the loyal fan base. I enjoyed playing this game in offline co-op with my cousin on the couch, nothing beats offline multiplayer that’s one reason why I enjoyed this game, so as long as the price is right for what we’re getting (and if it could be free, of course you guys should do that) I’ll get this and keep supporting this game.

  • I wanted to add, I beat this game on the normal difficulty, but now that his DLC is coming (as long as the price is right if it can’t be free!), I’m going to definetly go back to this game and get all the Trophies and play this.

  • Cant wait for the DLC. actually bought this game when it first came out, must find some co op partners.

  • I don’t like the view! It’s also way to dark and you can’t see all your enemies coming at you! Heck why can’t you gamer developer’s make a game like Left 4 Dead duh!.. Top view is so lame I do like it that you added Custom Sound tracks heck yeah The PSN needs all games supporting this feature without it you might as well shoot yourself in the head! Boring without it Sony! I found that out with Borderlands crappy OST! Custom sound tracks would have been much better then having to deal with a boring OST! Oh I forgot there is no music lmao!

  • @39 Yawgmothgod & @ 40 devilmosh:

Thanks for the advice. Isn’t it too late to upgrade my weapons? I’m already at the end of the graveyard chapter so I’m stuck with what I got, right? I can’t leave the game and upgrade somehow, and then go back to this chapter, can I? I tried to bomb the screamers & take them out fast, but I guess I’m not fast enough. I don’t want to play a level 25 times to finally get through it. I’m saving THAT level of patience for Dark Souls.

The game was so great for me until I pooped out at this point. I might get the dlc if I can play it even though my forward progress is stuck by hordes of dooshbaggy zombies.

Oh, and @55 Snakeeyes, I generally agree with you. I don’t like that top down perspective either. I’m wondering if that’s how developers save money since you see this in a lot of downloaded games. However, this game was so fun–until I crapped out–that I got over my dislike for that perspective.

  • love this game dead nation

  • @56 I guess it depends on how much money you have. It always starts you out right next to a weapons shop, so if you have the cash, go in there before going any farther and concentrate on upgrading the rifle and the mines.

Also with the walls, they collapse fast enough if you wail into them with the machine gun. The time it takes to get a grenade in there can be too much. Mines, grenades, or flares will distract the others enough to work on the screamers. If I remember right, there are two screamers at the top right and left, then two on the left side. Keep hunting them until you no longer hear them. The numbers of the rest will die down after that.

As for the view, I love it. I mean, I enjoy first person view best of all (Dead Island rocks!) but I have health problems that, for some reason, causes me to get really sick if I play FP too long. So then I switch over to the top-down games like this, Burn Zombie Burn, and Alien Breed and they don’t give me trouble.

I think it’s supposed to be so dark. It’s night time and being realistic. There’s a flashlight on the guns, though, and you have flares. To me, it’s scarier when they’re lurking in the shadows like that.

  • WoW i’m surprised to see this.

  • I was playing with my cousin. We got past the graveyard level and beat it in one day (On easy though.) But. We played so damn much on one level. We literally played for 45 minutes, our hands cramping, thumbs on the verge of breaking or snapping off and running away, because we didn’t know that you have to kill the big zombies at the end of the graveyard level. I was hurting so much after I had to wait 3 hours before I could do anything more in a game… I can still feel it…

  • P.s. we ran out of ammo about 20 minutes in and was doing this soully on the basic weapon because it has no ammo limit. HAPPY DAYS FOR THAT GUN!

  • @58, Devilmosh: thanks again for further advice. I think I’ll try again, a few more times.

@60 Verlante: Lol, I certainly understand that feeling of sore fingers & hands in frantic paced games like this one.

  • Alright! Very nice

  • Wait so this guy is claiming there’s going to be DLC for Dead Nation — a game I have shot the hell out of more than threee times? *When*, I think, is the key question not answered here.

  • Niceeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

  • wonderful news, me and my friend platinum’ this game with a lot of fun :)

  • This better not pull a Final Destination 5, story-wise. Just make a proper sequel, and stop with the “AHA~ Gotcha!” gimmicks… though it’s probably too late to fix that now. >.>

However, with three separate paths to choose, each with their own separate environments, I wouldn’t be surprised if this is still a $15 download like the original game. But it sounds like this will have enough content to justify the price, so even though I go the game for free, I’ll most likely buy this DLC whenever it comes out.

Keep up the awesome job, Housemarque!

  • Not till the co-op is fixed, i can not play online with my friends and they can’t either i got in touch and no response what so ever.

  • Nice price point as well, Count Me in!
Im looking forward to see how that crossroads element pans out
and about to platinum the main game and this DLC comes at just about the right time :)

  • Best zombie killing game! I have played it on all levels and still LOVE this game! Can’t wait for the end of this month!

For those complaining about the view and darkness – It’s a ZOMBIE KILLING GAME and there’s a freaking flash light on the gun, HELLO!?!? And do not change the view, LOVE IT! Keep doing what you’re doing, works great!
