  • So, it’s got almost no re-texturing or re-modeling, and still only renders in 720p with what looks like no anti-aliasing?

I’ll pass, thanks. I think that most of these companies are misunderstanding what the value proposition of HD re-releases are — it’s to see what the producers and developers wanted to deliver, but couldn’t on the hardware at the time. I expect to see re-authored textures based on the original hi-res art assets, high-poly models of common avatars, and high-quality audio based on the original music and voice recordings.

Releases like this one are why people are just using emulators and pirating disk images.

  • This HAD BETTER have Move support, even if you have to patch it in (but don’t take your time with it)

  • Wow that’s fantastic for Plus users, kinda makes me want to subscribe, lol. I already have RE2 and 3 off PSN, just need RE1 and of course RE4 HD (I already have it 3 times on 3 different consoles :P), I really wish you guys made this available at retail as well though, I would have liked a nice box added to my collection of the HD RE4 and CV X.

  • Most veterans, like myself, already have both games and played through them many times. Trophies would have been a nice little challenge to go for and would have made it worth another purchase and playthrough. Without decent trophies or even a platinum, even though 360 has 1000 gamerscore -_-, there is no reason to buy it again when one can just play the ps2 version.

  • @93

It wouldn’t be such a big deal if XBLA didn’t get the full 1000 gamescore and we don’t get our platinum. Hey Sony how about an explanation on why we didn’t get our platinum and XBLA got the full score

  • Will these HD versions be available at retail? I’d rather have a physical copy of these games than buy them off psn. So much easier and better to just pop in a game disc, plus I like having the box on my shelf :P

  • No move support and no platinum = no purchase :( I might as well buy it on the Xbox 360 then.

  • Any chance you can tell someone to fix the trophies? why the difference between platforms?

  • Thanks Capcom for being out of touch with the gamers this generation. No platinum + no Move support + Annoying DRM = No purchase.

People need to boycott when companies don’t provide the fan service, just saying.

  • Im so disappointed that both RE4 and RECV dont have a platinum trophy.
second time that capcom screw up this year, first time was the annoucement of ultimate mvc3 as a disc-based game only and not as downloadable content for mvc3…

  • Eh i guess this good for people who may like the old Resident Evil games, personally im still waiting on either a remake of Outbreak (with full online) or a 3rd game in the series for ps3/xbox. Such an underrated series and like with other games capcom has they just leave it to rot.

Ill probably only be picking up the old ps1 RE games, wasnt a fan of 4.

  • I have a platinum trophy. When I won MVP for my baseball league. A real one. So I could care less if this has a virtual trophy one or not.

  • Definitely in for $10, but the lack of a Platinum trophy is disappointing. This should be treated like a retail game, IMO.

  • That’s a lot of good stuff for little to no money

  • at Jay_ci

Its different for everyone. Its not important to me if i get or dont get a trophy from a baseball league…….but its important to you. Just like an online trophy is important to someone else. I dont care that this game doesnt have a platinum but others do. I am disappointed that it wont use the MOVE just like the wii.

  • Awesome can’t wait, and for those complaining about the lack of platinum go to the ccapcom Facebook page and complain to them since they made the game. And for the empty threats saying you won’t be picking it up I because of the lack of plat, grow up.

  • capcom did you even read the reviews for Resident Evil 4 Wii??? It was da best one yet so how come we can’t get Move support? Xbox get 1000G but we get bronze trofiees how come?

  • Sorry, i would like to add ……..i would love to boycott this but even if all 100+ people who commented on here were to do it, it wouldnt even make a dent in their pockets. I dont agree with the 20 dollar price, that is way high for a game that most of the world has on another system. Or has beat a million times before. For people who have PS+ its a great price. Just think if it was originally priced at 10 and PS+ got it for 5……Capcom would probably lose money. I think the price was decided with only one thing in mind…..PS+……….if it wasnt for PS+ the price would be 10 for everyone.

  • A 20 dollar FULL console game and it won’t have a platinum.. ouch.

  • @113, I have a feeling your trophy isn’t made out of platinum…. Actually I know it isn’t lol.

  • I barely ever bother to log onto the blog I just read it… but I just wanted to make it clear to Capcom (and their product manager who should be reading these comments) that the way to bring RE4 to the PSN would be to include playstation MOVE support. I already have the wii version, and if I didn’t… I would buy that version, this is too expensive and it is lacking features. I’ve seen capcom re-release games over and over, how many times will you guys try to milk Resident Evil, Street Fighter, etc… and expect your FANS to stay with you?? Not the right way to do business, just my opinion.. and the opinion of many others I’ve heard saying the same things about you Capcom. You remind me of Square-Enix who still doesn’t listen to their fans and give them what they want (A final fantasy 7 remake) while they release other (bad) ff games and a remake of 10 instead. Nice job listening to your fans boys, nice…

  • @119 thebgj

sorry but you are wrong. Boycotting games DOES make a difference , ESPECIALLY on, more niche hardcore games like this. Game companies & studios go down all the time because of poor sales (remember Bodycount from August? no? well you’re not alone. no one bought their sucky game and the studio is now worm food :D )

  • What? This actually doesn’t have Move support??? I freaking loved this game on the Wii

  • Are you sure there is no platinum? Xbox has 1000G so are the trophy sites right?

  • No Planinum or MOVE support… do what others on here have suggested and don’t buy this game if you’ve already bought RE4 before.. teach Capcom to make a REAL remake, instead of a half assed one.

  • This is whack. I’m reading all of the comments now— why are they pulling this crap on us? I’ll be picking up Team Ico Collection instead this Tuesday, or God of War Origins.

  • Looks like Ico comes out on the 27th. Either way, I’m saving my money for something worthwhile. This is disappointing, I ‘m seeing that Code Veronica is getting the same treatment and has no platinum.

  • btw guys,

i hear that the PSP Monster Hunter 3rd HD remake capcom released in japan is so bad that SCEA refuse to allow them to release it here.

The game doesn’t have a single trophy and they didn’t even bother doing the up-rezing properly (the heads up display is all blury like they just stretched & scaled the psp assets), ect.

…come to think of it i think i read that both HD RE remakes here are pretty poor as well. like 720p, with Standerd def cut scenes and more blurrry low res ingame assets ect.

Definatly looking forward to reading the reviews for this :D

  • I was really tempted to get both of these games, but not getting a platinum trophy for each, while the other console gets 1000 points each killed my interest.

I could understand it somewhat if both versions had small trophy/achievement lists, but for PS3, which has a bunch of downloadable games with platinums even when the other console’s version has small achievement lists, getting the short end of the stick makes no sense.

  • There is absolutely no reason to repurchase this without Move or Platinum support – it brings nothing new to the table whatsoever. Trust me, I’m not one to complain on the blog, but I’m not down with this. I was ecstatic when Resident Evil 4 was announced to be getting the HD treatment, and automatically ASSUMED it would have had both of these. Take note Capcom, this is a prime example of how NOT to issue remastered classics on consoles.

  • I’m buying it, but I’m giving it a bad rating on the PS store because of this no Move nonsense. Platinum I could care less about. Seriously frustratrated by the no-Move support.

  • Seriously, how people don’t see the value in Plus when you get discounts on new games like this is mind boggling.

  • @ dark recoil

U said last time it worked on a crap game………if it was a crap game then it makes sense. But this is Resident Evil We are talking about and its a great game regardless of move and platinum support. I know having the move would be better but people are still going to get this great game.

  • @HongoXIII

UR avatar is Wesker so ur going to be biased. I don’t have plus but I would get this if I could use my Move instead it just colects dust. No value in broken games get with the program capcom..

  • alot of u resident evil fan are complaining, especially some of u psn+ member. The game will cost $10 for us member plus we getting 3 resident psx classic game.I just dont understand why u all complaining about platinum trophy,i would like to know what the benefit of getting that trophy. Now i definitely would have agree about the move function,i think is should be compatible too.

  • im sure capcom will patch this game with move support in the future.

  • @Dcrazy204

I agree but by the time they do, everyone will have already beat the game. IF they do add it, it wont be probably for a couple weeks. Most people already beat it and are now going to beat again on the ps3. When they add it in the future…..they expect people to beat just one more time after beating it on the Wii,gamecube,ps2,iphone/ipod. And if they haven’t beat it on any of those they will already beat it once or twice on the ps3 without the move.

  • I think Mega Man Legend 3 has better chance of comin out that this getting patched.

  • It would be great to have PS Move support on RE4 HD. I’ve seen some of videos of the Wii version and it looks interesting. As for the complaints for platinum trophy for a game like this, I don’t understand why everyone is more into that than the game alone. At least, we should be grateful to have RE4 HD and RE: Code Veronica HD to be released for us on the PSN store.

  • This should have Move support and $20 is overpriced, it should be around $10 tops.

  • I will take one or the other, a platinum trophy or move support, but without both I’m joining the no-buy bandwagon

  • Will we get Outbreak with online support too?

  • $19.99? Awww, man. =/ I’d thought it’d be $14.99 at best. Oh wellz.

  • Sweet deal ! You had me at free. Keep those HD remakes coming. Improving on already great games is a winning strategy. Great for Sony and great for gamers. Only way it could be any better is if you add Move support !

  • Considering how fun RE4 was for the Wii using motion controls I’m kind of surprised it wasn’t incorporated into the game for the PS3. I will probably be picking it up anyway because I love the series.

  • I’ll be getting it simply because 10 dollars as a PS+ is a good deal I can’t pass up (seeing how I’ve never played this game). However I’m incredibly disappointed that capcom didn’t see fit to port the wii controls over for PS Move owners like myself. I’m aching for reasons to use my Move and I was really hoping this would have those controls.

Any chance we’ll get a Patch for move controls or is this a case of “We’re capcom, we have your money therefore we do not care”?

No Funky DRM please, I’ve been having issues with my connection and don’t like being able to start up a game because I’m not online.

  • It looks like the PC version..
Pretty good, judging by these pics..

  • Where’s the Move support?

  • Lazy trophies are lazy.

  • I must be the only person in the world who didn’t care for the motion controls on the Wii version. It just felt too weird. Just like with most of the motion controls, I just don’t have the same level of control that I have using a game pad. It was so awkward for me that I bought a Gamecube control for the Wii version. I also can’t achieve the same high scores on Mercs using the Wiimote setup.
