Starting now, we are happy to invite all PS3 players to the much anticipated Battlefield 3 Open Beta! Played on the Operation Metro map in Rush mode that won us Best Action Game and Best Multiplayer Game at E3, this is your chance to experience one of many flavors of Battlefield 3.
We would like to take this opportunity to thank all of you for your great interest in this Open Beta. By joining, you will help us stress test servers, allow us to run important tests on the game’s back-end and Battlelog. Remember that this software is in Beta and does not represent the game’s final quality — you’ll have to wait for October 25th for that! For a full FAQ on the Open Beta, head here.

DICE’s Top 10 Battlefield Tips for Operation Metro
- Stick to your teammates, and remember to spawn on them to stay close to the fight.
- Use your kit specific abilities to help your team mates. Assault can hand out med kits, Engineers can repair vehicles, and Support can hand out ammo.
- When you arm an M-COM station, defend it to ensure it’s destroyed.
- The bombed-out tunnel section in Operation Metro is an excellent place to use a flashlight as one of your weapon attachments. Use it to light the tunnels up – and to blind your enemies!
- Attach bipods to your weapon and deploy it automatically by pushing up against cover or laying prone and zooming in – this gives you a huge increase in accuracy and stability.
- Use suppressive fire (shoot close to enemies behind cover) to negatively impact the enemy’s fighting capabilities.
- Watch out for falling debris — it can hurt you! But you can also hurt your enemies by taking out buildings with the Engineer’s RPG.
- Shotguns are excellent for CQC (Close Quarters Combat) in the tighter tunnels sections.
- Fire automatic weapons in short bursts for accuracy, or switch to single-fire mode if applicable.
- To grab your enemy’s dog tag as a souvenir, perform a stealth knife kill from behind.
Just deleted the beta had early access when it was better looking for bugs. Dolphin Diving is the new fad or should I say and old fad returned from older games. I hope that this map gets shredded it is more like CoD’s rail style of game play and not fun… I preferred the BC2 Beta with the more open map and vehicles. Still has all the DICE MP issues from week one Beta can’t squad up with friends and if you do you end up on opposite sides with no voice chat. Voice chat worked in early access not now. If your going to beta test a game you better have the money to make it like the release game so that you get true feed back
And I have left the same feedback on the Battlelog Beta website and will be waiting for the Single Player on Oct. 25th
the game is good, we just need a lobby to exit to before and after games to mess around with our kits or take a break or whatever. playing a game and then havint to sit for 30 seconds without anything to do is a bit frustrating. maybe being able to see the next map or play with our kits. hopefully the way its set up now is just a beta thing

I know there are alot of people thanking you Dice for having this open Beta but.. Thank you very much, the game looked beautiful on 1080p with the new Frost engine. I am so happy I get to play this and I plan on pre-ordering it.

Im kinda new here and I need friends so add me. I don’t have many games right now (I just got my PS3) so far, I got Uncharted 1 and 2 (I play multiplayer on U2) Assassins Creed 1 and DC Universe.
Anyone recommend any games? Of course I’m gonna get Uncharted 3, Assassins Creed Revelations and Battlefield 3!
My only concern is I had to look for this in the PS Store. How is this not right up front or on the top of the list?
grab enemy dog tags sounds like kill confirmed in mw3 so who came up with that idea first bf3 or mw3 game does look sweet though!
i realize its beta but having played bad company 1, bad company 2, battlefield 1943, there aren’t any large changes from those beta stages to retail
battlefield 1943 a top game on PSN store has broken microphones from day 1 release and was never given any additional maps (4 total) but still a really fun game …

* graphics for ps3 are downgraded considerably from Pictures and trailers released, bad company 1 and 2 look better…BF3 graphics remind me of Medal of Honor Multiplayer and Battlefield Vietnam with weird Hue changes at certain areas
* low awkward jumping, its shows your legs like Call of Duty but when you should be able to jump like that in some areas it doesn’t let you and areas it looks like you shouldn’t be able to it lets you
* changing weapon setup annoying having to press L1-R1
* no lobby system between matches to vote on next map, nothing was done to improve the community and interface of battlefield series :(
* Metro awful map, awful looking and linear….i get they probably chose this map to lure call of duty people who are familiar with corridor style areas but call of duty has way more detail in level design for same areasz
Loving the game. Will there be a patch to improve gameplay and server stability while we TEST the beta? Resistance 3 Beta got 2 or 3 patches i think. Can you answer please?

I am soooo disappointed with this beta..
First off i can’t even get my friends to play with me. Like I invite them to my squad then when I join a game they are either in a different squad or they are on the other team. And if we are all in the same squad I can’t hear them because for some reason mics do not work in the game. Such a pain in the ass.
Also making the hit markers so small you can barely notice them is ridiculous. I can’t even tell I am hitting an opponent 90% of the time. Also no vehicles really not even a 4×4 or anything come on? And it’s also annoying you can’t even join a certain squad or make one yourself. You have to be placed in a randomized squad.. The gameplay is good and graphics are beautiful, but I really hope the game is nothing like the beta because I would be super disappointed.
Don’t hate on me I am a battlefield fan I loved bad company 2, but they should have put more effort into the beta. This is a representation and to me I felt I was let down a lot.
I’m gonna be honest: I’m a big fan of both Modern Warfare and Battlefield. That being said heres my 2 cents on the beta of B3.
Fix the f**kin squad support and mic usage. Beta or no beta, there is nothing more irritating then trying to play an objective based game and being unable to hear anyone, much less get your party on the same flippin squad.
Long Range and LIght Machinegun Weaponry: TONE IT DOWN. Last match I played earlier I moved no more than 5 feet before getting spawn trapped by two campers with RPK’s to make it worse with mic support seemingly missing I couldn’t tell my apparent noob team mates to move away from that area, as all forms of spawning put me right there, after 6 straight deaths I left the squad and was able to spawn elsewhere, yet still had to deal with these seemingly One-Shot kill RPK sniper rifles. I saw an earlier post mentioning that kills in BC2 were easier..As far as I have seen, I have never been One-Shot killed so much in my life, even on CoD hardcore matches. That crap needs to go.
Other than that I think the beta is great besides the the other small bugs I’ve seen an the random walking through floor tricks and stuff but yeah fix those above and you got my money for your game
I am most likely going to be in the minority, but to me this isn’t a great online game.
First off the overall feel of moving the weapon just felt weird, and originally i thought since i didn’t know the controls maybe that was the reason. Though as a played some more the feeling just stuck with me. Next off i really don’t like the whole touch the grenade button and it is gone in a second, hated it with R3 and with this as much. Then there is the fact that when i am being shot I have no idea where and the fact i am being shot. Of course throw all the minor floor glitches the servers are experiencing has my annoyed with the beta feel.
Of course there is also the map. At times I hardly notice the map is on the screen. To me other first person shooters if they have a map have it in a corner , check for BF3; easily noticeable, no check. To me when i look at the map half of the time it just hard to see, even when looking right at it. It seems the color isn’t great or they are trying to cover to much with the map at one given point.
And i understand that the beta could be and most likely will be different than actual game, though I yet to see a game a month before release with a beta that had a different feel or so many improvements to it so bet what you see now is what you get, just use imagination for vehicles. So in the end this just didn’t impress me enough to make me stop and say “hmm i guess that 60 dollars for CoD may go to another game.” Sorry Dice, but think after this beta I will head back to Modern Warfare.
BEEN PLAYING SINCE TUESDAY….GAME IS AMAZING MY WHOLE 30MAN CLAN WILL BE GETTING THIS…JUST IMPROVE SQUAD SUPPORT AND ENSURE THAT CLANS (12 MAN SQUADS) CAN BE MADE…THIS IS IMPORTANT…OTHER THAN THE USUAL GLITCHES AND NETWORK LAG…THIS GAME IS A+ (10/10)…DAY 1 PURCHASE
Ps3 graphics are dated on all ports now. So annoying. Not buying this on ps3 for sure.

please add a lobby between matches where we can choose the next map to play. there’s also a few bugs and glitches in the game from being in prone you seem to fall through the map a bit, or how when you die and your choosing your next load out idk if this ever happened to anyone but once i hit deploy sometimes my screen stays blue. this has happened twice to me already. umm mics seem to go and come when they please moreless mics do not work. party systems is broken !!! health regen for tanks? ummm yea i really do not think thats a good idea. im sure we all do not want that pleassssseeee don’t allow tanks to regen heath if they flea from battle. that’s kinda cheap. it defeats the purpose of having a engy. besides that im really looking forward to BF3 Oct 25th. the beta is finally here soon the game will be out and i personally cant wait… oh yea one more thing can there be some type of way to communicate with other teammates out of my squad? i hated the fact when i played bfbc2 i couldn’t tell a teammate there’s a enemy over the hill because they weren’t in my squad. thanks Dice !!! oh yea and other minor stuff, its hard to see the blue teammates in the mini map. and the grenade throwing kinda ehhh… i wanna cook my grenade before i throw it. i noticed i couldn’t cook it when i threw it right in front of me and died. that’s about it i think…. unless i can come across other stuff in the beta …
btw, gun controls and sounds are nice..
people keep in mind that this is the beta..
and yes the hole glitch sucks unless i am in it, lol.. then im a bit invisible ,haha..
also there have been a few times when the screen will stay in a blue haze after reviving and then seem to be completely invisible to everyone and death wont come until getting hit w/ stray frag or waiting til match ends..
of course this is just something to wet the lips and the full taste will come the 25th..
but im loving it , and just imagining vehicle combat w/ this beast.. map is a decent size that is used for beta, please show us more, and maybe vehicles. unfortunately many usa players did not have access to game until like 5 pm and then i guess they were fixing psn.. so it was a very long day for a few battlefield 3 fans, im just happy i had my beat a bit early..

Battlelog.battlefield.com is for every console. Even the BETA version right now.
Just log in using your PSN ID and Password and your stats will be synced with Battlefield 3.
Battlelog is a great system, it shows you what the unlocks are and what you need to get them. Some require XP Points and some require a certain amount of kill with a weapon. Shows all your stats, W/L Ratio, K/D Ratio, Accuracy and so on. It even has it’s own forum in there. You can look up your friends stats too! But only if they have logged into Battlelog.
Will our xp and unlocks earned during the beta be moved over once we get the actual game disc? or will we be starting from scratch again?

I’ll be renting this 8 months from now, that should be enough time for them to release the first patch after their several screw up patches.

You can tell its in beta stage. But I mean please patch a little bit. I was playing and stopped because of the glitch that when you aim when your sprinting it goes to aim and then it backs out and then starts aiming again. It’s sorta hard to explain but it was getting on my nerves. Probably none of there glitches will exist in the release(I pray) but untill then I can’t play it because the glitches and the flashing…. OMG the FLASHING IS ANNOYING…. but I can’t wait DICE for the release.

There is definitely some problems. 1. You get stuck under the Map they need to fix that ASAP thats so annoying man. 2. when you squad up with friends they end up on the other team. 3. you cant even HEAR ANYONE from your squad while playing when you have headsets in. How can we play tactically if we cant interact with our team? I had to call my friends on the PHONE please Dice FIX THIS PROBLEM. thats definitely the biggest problem in the beta!
i hope its better than BF2. I loved BF2 single player but hated online, it responded too slow or something.
It’s funny how, people “defending” Battlefield3 are using the “beta” excuse, but face facts and realise that this close to release we’re seeing an almost identical version to what will be ship out in the next three weeks more then likely (with the exception of a number of patches to fix this blunder.) This is not so, much a better, but rather more of a demo. It’s the same with what happened to KILLZONE3 and we all remember how, utterly dissapointing and horrible that turned out.
Pretty sure there is no laser in multiplayer, should use that button for bipod. We need a seperate button for bipods. Or have it be circle. Tap circle for bipod, hold to activate mcom station.

I wonder how many folks complaining about bugs here are actually reporting them on the Battlelog so they can actually use the feedback.
LOL, @189 is absolutely right. KZ3 was a horribly disappointing flop compared to the hype. Can you even get enough people to start a match now? LMAO. Pretty sure it was gonna be the “COD Killer” too. LMFAO!

Somebody tell me that the BETA versions frostbite 2 engine isnt what the final one will look like.. I didnt expect vehicles or big maps but the graphics really could have been better.. Battlefield bad company 2 is smoother and looks better than 3.. somebody tell me the final version will be BETTER!!
Popped my Battlefield cherry yesterday. Wow what an amazing game cant wait for my preorder to come in. I Cant believe that I wasted all that time playing that “other FPS”. Playing with peeps that use teamwork is awesome. Dice And EA,bravo!
Hi, I’ve been playing the beta for a while and I have some issues. For example in the beta are many bugs I’m not saying it ruins the whole experience but it is a little bit annoying, also I’ve noticed that when i turn the camera too fast to a side of the screen I always see this red flash, I don’t know if that flash is part of the game or what… anyway, I know that is a beta also I know that this doesn’t represent the actual game, but I’m just saying that this errors should be fix, thank you. Great game, love it :-)!!!!!
