Crysis Assaults PSN Today with 3D Support, Watch the Launch Trailer

It is very exciting for me to be able to say that the original Crysis is coming to the PS3! Some of you may be wondering how we are going to bring the large open environments that Crysis is known for to console. The expansive jungle sections, the pure white sand beaches, the open vehicle levels… maybe you’re shaking your head that it cannot be done. I’m here to tell you that we’ve accomplished this and you will be able to experience the remastered, single-player campaign for Crysis on October 4th in North America and October 5th in Europe.

So how did we do it? As Egg Shen said, it wasn’t easy! Without the power of the CryENGINE 3, we would never have attempted it, but with fully deferred lighting, a PS3-specific rendering pipeline and SPU-enhanced physics code, together with more efficient memory layouts and more intelligent algorithms, we brought the experience of Crysis to consoles without compromise.

With that said, we didn’t just want to port the game straight onto console; we wanted to make sure we tailored the experience to suit it. We’ve brought the Crysis 2 Nanosuit and controls into the console version of Crysis and we have greatly improved the ease with which players can perform their Nanosuit powered exploits. The Nanosuit gives players options on how they want to play Crysis – from stalking your prey like a stealth predator, to hurling yourself into battle like the Hulk – with the intuitive Crysis 2 controls, nothing gets between the player and the impressive action. We’ve also rebalanced all the combat and weapons to suit the DualShock 3 controller and made improvements to the AI. Also, if you have a 3D capable TV, you can immerse yourself in the beautiful Crysis world with fully integrated stereoscopic 3D support!

For those of you who missed Crysis the first time around, this experience delivers intense, stealth-action and furious battles in large, open jungle environments with jeeps, tanks, boats, helicopters and intelligent AI. If that isn’t enough, you also take the fight to an unknown alien race and board their ships where the laws of physics no longer apply. When you finally emerge, a shocking surprise is awaiting as you discover that the world you once knew has undergone a dramatic alteration.

Crysis for PS3 (PSN)

Crysis comes to PS3 on October 4th in North America for $19.99. On behalf of everyone at Crytek, I really hope that you enjoy playing it as much as we enjoyed developing it!

  • needs to be cheaper, its 4 years old

  • OMG the wait for the PS update is killing me! I cant wait to buy this

  • is this game as buggy as Crysis 2? I was pretty disappointed with all the bugs and glitches, and Crysis 1 being digital only there’s no way we can get any of our money back if you decide to not fix the bugs as in Crysis 2

  • When is the PS Store updating? I am waiting to download this game. I played the first Crysis on the PC a little after it came out and it was amazing. I am going to buy it for console because it is my brothers computer that I played Crysis on and he is on it all the time.

  • Where’s the update list for the week damnit :D want a full list now so i can enjoy all the goodies!

  • What about the trophies ? Is there any Platinum trophy support?

  • No Move Support?

  • I love how were now calling ‘made graphics worse so it will run on consoles’ ‘Remastered’ .

Also really funny how this is a special on steam today for $7.50.

More than double the price with worse graphics? I’ll pass thank you.

  • Need store update naow! Want to play!

  • Trick me once. Shame on YOU!!!
Trick me twice. Shame on ME.

Never again will i buy another CRYTEK game. Crysis 2 had some of the most overhyped graphics from a third party developer. It performed so poorly. I was running at around 15-20 frames/second with cloak engaged. All this talk from the developers saying that their game was going to look better than anything on the market. Uncharted,Killzone,GodofWar, hell even gears of war all look and perform way better. So much bs talk. Can’t stand that. I dont mean to be a douche because I do appreciate the hard work from developers, but when they’re talking down the competition and they dont pull through that leaves a foul taste in my mouth. Never again./rant

  • Go onto the PSN and search Crysis and scroll down and you’ll see the game. I just downloaded it now.

  • I haven’t played Crysis or Crysis 2, so this should be interesting.

  • Thanx BloodiedWrath! Installing now, will report to the rest if it has a platinum or not when done. ONLY 3 GB download!

  • @BloodiedWraith That’s pretty cool, I’ve been waiting to download this and the store takes forever to update. I was hoping though that there would be a Plus discount on this game.

  • Yes, there is a Plat!

  • @BloodiedWraith Thanks for that!
@Motherboop Im pretty excited that it has platinum! Im buying it right now!

  • Great to see semi-recent PC releases getting great PSN releases. It would be awesome to see games like Freespace, Giants: Citizen Kabuto (with the special NVidia mods), MDK, Tribes, Homeworld, etc make it to PSN with this much love and care given to the port.

  • You know, not to be corny and all, but this really is a historical day in the history of PS3! I can remember back in 2007 when forums were ablaze with whether or not the PS3 could handle Crysis – some of you may remember. Well that day has come my firends, 4 years later! Can’t wait to see how well it plays :)

  • @ Motherboop, technically it’s not real crysis. It’s using the cry engine 3 which is basically a “cheaper” version of the original for PC. It’s also worth noting that using the sdk that crytek released some programmers tried to use the ce3 to play the original crysis…it failed miserably. Also guys PS3 owners are getting the shaft for this one, it takes up 2.96gb’s on ps3 and upwards of 5gb’s on the 360…ps3 owners get shafted with compressed textures and sounds…lol to the people who have already purchased it.

  • @Motherboop
Please, can you confirm/deny if the NA Version IS multilanguage???

  • Is there a demo version of this, I like to try this game myself but put a demo so I can see the graphic.

  • @Quadlaser:

Technically, yes- they had to pull strings to bring it to consoles. It runs an inconsistant 30fps, but looks and plays beautifully. I don’t see the shaft, what I see is a fun, beautiful game with 51 trophies and 3D support – only for $19.99.

@dushku – subtitles can only be turned on and off it looks like. May be stuck with English only.

  • FINALLY! I wanted this for a long time. What about the graphics though? Any word on what detail level it is similar too on PC? Please say it’s at least up to par with the “High” detail settings on PC – but “Very High” and “Ultra” would also be great to hear! and what about Frame rate and Motion Blur: Does it run smooth?

  • Will there be a Demo? I already own this on PC, and it would be nice to see how it runs before I pay for a second copy!

  • how is the cr engine 3 a cheaper version of the pc version? cry engine 3 last time i checked was the latest version??

  • Ahhhh…..The original Crysis. Played on the PC and it was great. Trophies is a must for this game.

  • Awesome game . Playing it now . Go buy it if you are interested in the slightest . It isn’t disappointing in the least .

  • will Crysis Warhhead make its way to consoles as well?

  • Wow, not a single answer… This shows how much Crytek cares. They showed this same interest in fixing the bugs and glitches on Crysis 2, so I’ll pass

  • Has a platinum, is an affordable $20… yeah buddy, I’m buying it.

  • Love the 3D support !

  • Cool idea… give up on the Crysis 2 that underwhelmed everyone and instead port the well-regarded original.

  • Only 20 bucks?¿ Fresh.

  • Lol again, for anyone who already bought this. This game is again ruined by Crytek, people are reporting glitched trophies. Head over to mycrysis forums and you can see the details, Crytek messed up the same thing they did in Crysis 2.

  • Ah i’m gonna buy it, even with all the negitive comments. since i never got to play it.
