PlayStation Store Update

Grace Chen's Avatar + Posted by Grace Chen on Oct 18, 2011 // Director, PlayStation Store

Hi Everyone -
You want awesome content, you got it! This week continues to make it easy to spend the $60 in October to get $10 back in November as part of Only On PSN with the release of Okabu and Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken. Download Okabu and quest solo or co-op with a friend to return peace to the lands. With an unforgettable cast of whimsical characters, Okabu delivers a PSN physics toybox world from the talented folks over at Handcircus. Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken explores the other end of the spectrum with a cinematic 2D adventure, wrapped with amazing art and music to make for an unforgettable experience. Both games are part of the Only On PSN lineup, and therefore get a 20% discount via PlayStation Plus.

Other new releases this week include more co-op titles such as Dungeon Defenders and PAYDAY: The Heist. Dungeon Defenders (sporting Move and 3D support) is a four player co-op Tower Defense action-RPG. PAYDAY: The Heist brings the heat as you plan the perfect heist over several scenarios. For those who purchased all the titles in PSN PLAY, you can grab this title free and should have an XMB message waiting for you with a link to the game in the Store.

We are confirming that the Gran Turismo 5 DLC update will be available to download on 10/25. We apologize for the delay in the content however as a gift to our eager fans we are offering free bonus content. For those who purchase the “Complete Pack” by November 7, we will throw in a unique GT Academy dynamic theme as well the Honda NSX GT500 Stealth Model. Just to be clear, both the dynamic theme and the car are free with purchase of the Complete Pack. Again we are sorry for the delay and hope that fans will enjoy all of the fantastic new content to come for GT5.

Lastly, PlayStation Plus subscribers continue October’s month of content and discounts with some new discounts including 50% off Burnout Crash!, 70% off Under Siege, and free PSN titles in time for Halloween like Dead Nation, Burn Zombie Burn, Alien Zombie Death, and Age of Zombies. As noted, this week is also the only week that discounts on Okabu and Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken will be locked in.

Check out the full list of content below and drop your feedback or quick questions in the comments below. For more continued discussions on this week’s content, head to the PlayStation Store Update thread hosted by PSN Community Manager Morgan Haro.

I see that Phantasy Star Portable 2, Sega Genesis Collection, and Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars are all on sale for the PSP3! But I was waiting for the PS Vita…I had no idea that you were skipping it and releasing the next system instead!

In all seriousness, it’s rather alarming that the PlayStation Store has updated so late today. It would be so nice to adhere to a much more consistent schedule.

PS3 Legacy: 1

PS1 Legacy: 1
PS2 Legacy: 0
PCE Legacy: 0

Well, it’s usually 0 all around so at least its something.

A lot of new games, many of which have demos which is surprising. Good stuff. The DLC looks to be pretty mediocre though thats the norm, yet people keep supporting it. The amount of sales and price drops is very nice. Lots of videos to. As always the PSP is left to die because this is how SCEA treats handhelds. This week is packed. Which means next weeks will amount to nothing. :p

I’ll be generous since this is my first time back in months and rate this a 4 out of 5. Its pretty large and good but still lacking in some areas.

I’m not usually one to complain, but come on. I’ve been a PS+ member since the day it was available. With the PSN shutdown, I wasn’t able to get a single game as I’ve owned each one. I didn’t mind too much, just wanted my PSN up. But now you guys give us Dead Nation and Burn Zombie Burn, games we got from the Welcome Back Package and a former PS+ game? Not to mention, I’m almost positive we already got Age of Zombies mini.

Its very disappointing. Maybe I’m just a bit more annoyed, after waiting so long for nothing.

‘about freekin’ time. Seriously, just post after lunch what time it will be up. Every Tuesday, after lunch, post the expected update time. Simple.
It’s midnight, where’s the R&C trial we were told we were getting Oct. 3rd in the PS+ blog post. It said trial Oct. 18.

That took a while but theres lots of stuff on sale. @30 Insomniac probably ran late with the digital version. Remember that list says it’s subject to change

Just becuase it will be Halloween soon, dosen’t mean we want all those zombie games again. I am sure dead nation is up there since it released DLC a week of two ago that nobody bought.

Nothing that can’t wait till I wake up in the morning. I already updated my firmware (that wasn’t required or announced)

Free Batman Beyond Skin
2CBL-CJND-NMFL

I had 2 NOS codes. Your Welcome
