PlayStation Store Update

Hi Everyone –
You want awesome content, you got it! This week continues to make it easy to spend the $60 in October to get $10 back in November as part of Only On PSN with the release of Okabu and Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken. Download Okabu and quest solo or co-op with a friend to return peace to the lands. With an unforgettable cast of whimsical characters, Okabu delivers a PSN physics toybox world from the talented folks over at Handcircus. Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken explores the other end of the spectrum with a cinematic 2D adventure, wrapped with amazing art and music to make for an unforgettable experience. Both games are part of the Only On PSN lineup, and therefore get a 20% discount via PlayStation Plus.

Other new releases this week include more co-op titles such as Dungeon Defenders and PAYDAY: The Heist. Dungeon Defenders (sporting Move and 3D support) is a four player co-op Tower Defense action-RPG. PAYDAY: The Heist brings the heat as you plan the perfect heist over several scenarios. For those who purchased all the titles in PSN PLAY, you can grab this title free and should have an XMB message waiting for you with a link to the game in the Store.

We are confirming that the Gran Turismo 5 DLC update will be available to download on 10/25. We apologize for the delay in the content however as a gift to our eager fans we are offering free bonus content. For those who purchase the “Complete Pack” by November 7, we will throw in a unique GT Academy dynamic theme as well the Honda NSX GT500 Stealth Model. Just to be clear, both the dynamic theme and the car are free with purchase of the Complete Pack. Again we are sorry for the delay and hope that fans will enjoy all of the fantastic new content to come for GT5.

Lastly, PlayStation Plus subscribers continue October’s month of content and discounts with some new discounts including 50% off Burnout Crash!, 70% off Under Siege, and free PSN titles in time for Halloween like Dead Nation, Burn Zombie Burn, Alien Zombie Death, and Age of Zombies. As noted, this week is also the only week that discounts on Okabu and Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken will be locked in.

  • Beefy update thank you and lots to look for now.

  • after all that waiting.. i atleast expecting something like the digital version of DCUO F2P.. not re-published content

  • You could at least tell us when something that was advertised has been scrapped from update plans. Like the Gran Turismo 5 DLC and the Naruto stuff people have been complaining about. Overall, extreme weaksauce update… Here is hoping for next week!

  • Sweet sweet OT pay for the PSN crew.

  • Great, so instead of Getting Super Stardust HD in the welcome back program, I get Wipeout and the game that they gave away for free in this months update, Dead Nation. Oh I know! Let’s give out a game we already gave out to everybody who came back after the outage! Great for people who didn’t get it. But seriously. This is probably the biggest update that’s ever surfaced so far. My expectations were through the roof with this one. You guys published at least 10 new games. Downloaded Rocketbirds and I downloaded a ton of other demos too. But seriously… 12 am? Really?

  • Am I going crazy or was there some under siege avatars for free on ps+ that disappeared?

  • ABOUT DAMN TIME UPDATE DAMN STORE

  • @venneer

im gettin bored of these updates where 9 times outta 10 the best thing is the trailers.. i think the only thing im gonna download tonight is prob the metro gp videos . that game is gonna be pretty interesting

  • So whats the PSP3? Am I missing something?

    Phantasy Star Portable 2 – Sale (PSP3) (now $19.99, original price $39.99)
Sega Genesis Collection – Sale (PSP3) (now $12.99, original price $15.99)
Crazy Taxi: Fare Wars – Sale (PSP3) (now $6.99, original price $9.99)

  • I love how they release all these old games that were in the welcome back package or on PS+ earlier. The F’d up thing is that that’ve satisfied their promised quota of ‘free games’ so everybody expect a dry couple of weeks.

Who made this decision can go suck a fat Dhi-ck

  • need for speed the run demo baby download it now wait for it

  • better extremely late than never…and on a perfect day ..which is my bday :p now lets see which games im going to add on to my ps3 hdd after i fix it today in the afternoon..since its got the blinking red lights..but its all good ..i should have it fixed later today..and i cant wait..because i just got Batman AC..oh well..PS3 is still the best GAMING ENTERTAINMENT system out there!

  • Why do I even bother buying stuff on release date anymore, when it’s going to go on sale a week or two later?!?! I love ya Sony, but sometimes I wonder why. Where is the incentive to buy on release anymore….

  • dead nation was free in the welcome back offers and bzb and that stupid age of zombies game were free last halloween.. yea sure its good for people who dont have it but prob 90% of the community already does unless they werent alive last halloween or back in what april

i dont think im gonna be re-subbing to ps+ after december but i got a feeling that right when i cancel they’ll start giving out games i dont own and drop the stupid playstation mini ps3 support

i cant picture even playing those stupid games on a console like the ps3

  • Where is the Ratchet & Clank All 4 One Online Pass??? I’ve been waiting all. Day to play this online and I can’t until you guys put the pass up. This is ridiculous. Gawd forbid I was any of the people that bought this new and couldn’t play what I paid for. But I’m trying to give you guys money. Help me out here, please.

  • Thank you Sony!! Nice gifts with the gran turismo complete pack!

  • I never recieved a voucher for the PSN Play. Please help

  • No one cares about The Missing Link? Well, I do. And I didn’t have Dead Nation, because I didn’t have my PS3 yet, so thanks. Sorry to see no update can occur without whining, though.

  • Yeah, i’m not to happy with this update. Enough with the recycled games already. Don’t get me wrong I like PS Plus but even you PR guys know this looks bad. Especially with dead nation already being given away in the welcome back program. At this point i really think you guys should consider doing a republish with new content, before this shows up on the gaming websites show casing how cheap your being with PS Plus content. I also have to agree with the poster above me what gives.

    • These Halloween special titles are completely extra on top of October’s PS Plus free games. They are in no way a substitute from the regular new free content, discounts, and features that come with Plus. Just extra content.

  • I swear when I first went in the plus section I seen burnout crash for $2.99 then I click on it and it say $5.00 I might have thought about buying it for 3 bucks but $5 meh

  • Why won’t you explain further on what happened to the GT5 DLC release? Everyone outside North America is enjoying the new DLC. And why do I have to pay for the DLC on every single user account I have?! I was really looking forward to purchase the new DLC but there’s no way I’m paying over $30 when I should only have to pay $12! Please fix this or I probably won’t be buying it.

  • Valkyria Chronicles II PSP Bundle Pack is the best deal ever. Amazing game and dlc for $13, that’s a steal. Also nice to see Dead Nation up for free, I didn’t pick it when you were giving 2 games away after the outage.

  • Sony hasn’t had an update this late in a long time and it happens this time and everyone gripes. Typical ungrateful gamer. Not sure what is with the ‘What have you done for me lately, Sony’ attitude these days. Everyone expects every update to be beefy or something every single one of us wants. Get over yourselves.

  • So since I bought all the PSN:Play games do I get Payday mailed to me or what? Because I’m not seeing the option to get it free anywhere.

  • Websblobs same problem im having. I think we were suppose to get a message threw our xmb but i never got one.

  • bring valkryia chronicles 1 and heavenly sword to the store

  • You are supposed to get a message. I downloaded Payday at 2:30 EST.

  • I really liked Plus to begin with but I’m tired of it give me incentives to just never purchase anything. How about a 50% refund on purchase price for people with Plus who already bought these games?

I’m not a fan of throwing money away on games when they release because they’re always offered for free a month or two later.

Plus started out strong but watching how content is recycled over and over has convinced me to let it lapse. I’ll just be a lot more selective with my purchases and not worry about the crappy discounts and repeatedly offered free games.

If you want to keep subs, make Plus more dynamic for people who actually like to play games when they come out.

A few choices of our “free” content would work wonders.

  • Had to wait till Wednesday (East Coast) for the store update and the only thing worth even a glance is the VC2 stuff …

Oh my. September was such a good month for the PS Store, October has been a little underwhelming thus far.

  • Hopefully sometime tomorrow all these demos will be done downloading so I can try some out. Good thing I have no cap on my internet.

  • Nice update, but maybe saying October 19th would have been more accurate. Then it would have seemed as if you were early.

  • Where is this:
    DC Universe Online free-to-play
    at?….

  • So, Burnout Crash comes out, then you just decide to give it a 50% discount a couple weeks later? Good job. I dunno what I’ll be taking this week if anything, need to try demos first.

  • Oh man, I was already digging PS+, and now we get ghost avatars? I’m am totally buying a year subscription now.

  • Lawled at PSP3

  • @Nate technically Plus hasn’t given away any game that it’s already had up (Unless that game is packaged with another game, Burn Zombie Burn for example was given away last year but Dead Nation was not.)

  • So let me get this straight . They throw in a few unannounced free games for us ps plus members and people are complaining ? Do you not remember we got the majority of our free stuff the first Tuesday of this month ?
Never once was it mentioned these throw-ins would be added . I mean I have them but that isn’t the point .Not every last ps plus member does . So they benefit a little more than we do this time around. We already got our free stuff for the month . Next update of “new” plus content will be announced the first Monday of November .

Come on guys this complaining about nothing is ridiculous . It’s like you expect a slew of free content for your measly few dollars a month that goes into plus . We get more than enough free stuff . Look at last month . 10 games! Not every month is gonna be like that . But You can’t expect free stuff every time the store updates . They would have to charge more if that was the case .

  • This is like walking into the steak house and odering the House Special. Great update.
If you guy dont own SFA3 Max, get it for the psp, its awesome on the go. Lots of great stuff this week.
Standouts are, Payday, Okabu, Rocketbirds, Dungeon Defenders and A digital Dead Space. Thats a nice bone right there.
Plus members are again the stars of the show this week. Dead Nation/ Burn zombie Burn, Alien Zombie Death & Age of Zombies are 4 of my favorite titles. and you guys are gettin them free. I feal so angry inside.Aaaahhhgghhh.Ps+ is really starting to shine with great free content.Kudos sony.
Anyway, im going to give Need For Speed a run. Get it, RUN, lol. sorry. The game looks a little bland, but I will try it before I decide to comment on it. I really suprised with all the Update discounted games these past few weeks. Im thinking of picking up Sega Rally Online and Top gun.
Lots of good stuff all around this week, plenty demos, DLC, Themes and Ridge Racer7 In 3D.
Only thing missing are Ps2 classics. But I think that sony is just trying to maxamise the sales of the 4 titles that were released 2 weeks back. Look for some more ps2 titles on next weeks PSN update.
This weeks update gets a solid 4/5.
    Keep on Gamin Gamers.

  • Where is the DC Universe free-to-play change? It’s not in the store either…

  • waited all this time only to find out GT5 dlc isn’t until next week… going to bed now

  • Geez! You have a giant dry spell with only one or two less-than-stellar games coming out for months and months and then you drop a giant one around the holidays when no one can afford all these games with multiple good ones to buy?! REALLY?

I’ll just buy Payday, which should’ve released a couple weeks ago when it was much less crowded, and be on my way. All the previews and videos lead to it being a must buy, let’s hope the dev keeps supporting it with new, unique scenarios.

As for all these other titles, well, I hope they find an audience… if anyone can afford to buy something other than RAGE and Dark Souls last week, Arkham City this week, BF3 next and then Skyrim and MW3… and on and on… then I’m baffled but by all means.. release a bunch of not so well known games right next to the commercial behemoths, then wonder why they didn’t sell.

  • I will say this though Thank You @ the PS Team for trying to push out as much content as you can even though the store updated late and most of these games are old I applaud your efforts in trying to make everyone happy and at the same time knowing that is impossible I for one am happy with you my backlog is growing and growing I don’t have any idea where I’m going to find the time to play Batman,Okabu,Payday,Festival Of Blood,Battlefield 3 ,Uncharted,MW3,and Need For Speed before your next big quarter comes around but I and many are here to support you just keep up the hard work

  • iddiots…lol DCUO goes free tomorrow OCT 19th), does anyone else read the blog posts? or just listen to the free part and exclude everything else. i swear yall whine more then a 2 year old baby who doesn’t know any better, smh.

great update especially ridge racer in 3D, along with Dungeon Defenders in 3D. i will be trying both.

  • Oh yay Payday is out, wait its also out on PC. Sony playstation really is going down the crapper ever since the outage, Thank god battlefield 3 is going to be out next tuesday, oh wait getting it for the PC too, I think this is the last week im going to bother with this site, sony never keeps to what they tell people and im not going to keep sending them my money just to be told lies and to be let down all the time. Seriously sony get your stuff together and stop giving people false truths

  • Hey Grace Chen, where is the Full Game Trial for Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One?
    Remember this? https://blog.playstation.com/2011/10/03/playstation-plus-october-offers-free-costume-quest-and-discounts-galore/

    I still waiting…

    • It’s mentioned on this post you cited that content scheduled may change. That said, you can look forward to this Full Game Trial soon enough, but I’m afraid it did not make this update. Our apologies =)

  • $14.49 for the tactical enhancement pack for DE:HR?! You gotta be kidding me. Thats extremely expensive for just two extra guns and 10g’s of credits.

  • Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Tactical Enhancement Pack ($14.49)

For 2 guns and some cash that does not sound right?

  • Question: is the store update really late or is it just the annoucement blog? I know that I have downloaded new things in the past before the blog posted.

Perhaps the blog is late to give Jack Tretton’s blog time to percolate. Not smart to try to steal the spotlight from the big boss.

Anywho, I am happy with the demos, Pulse, new dynamic themes and most of all, the great free Halloween avatars. Seasonal avatars would be so great (although we don’t really have seasons in CA), throughout the year so I hope this is the beginning of a trend.

  • laaaate
enough with the street fighter avatars i’m sick of street fighter >;(
