PlayStation Store Update

Hi Everyone –
You want awesome content, you got it! This week continues to make it easy to spend the $60 in October to get $10 back in November as part of Only On PSN with the release of Okabu and Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken. Download Okabu and quest solo or co-op with a friend to return peace to the lands. With an unforgettable cast of whimsical characters, Okabu delivers a PSN physics toybox world from the talented folks over at Handcircus. Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken explores the other end of the spectrum with a cinematic 2D adventure, wrapped with amazing art and music to make for an unforgettable experience. Both games are part of the Only On PSN lineup, and therefore get a 20% discount via PlayStation Plus.

Other new releases this week include more co-op titles such as Dungeon Defenders and PAYDAY: The Heist. Dungeon Defenders (sporting Move and 3D support) is a four player co-op Tower Defense action-RPG. PAYDAY: The Heist brings the heat as you plan the perfect heist over several scenarios. For those who purchased all the titles in PSN PLAY, you can grab this title free and should have an XMB message waiting for you with a link to the game in the Store.

We are confirming that the Gran Turismo 5 DLC update will be available to download on 10/25. We apologize for the delay in the content however as a gift to our eager fans we are offering free bonus content. For those who purchase the “Complete Pack” by November 7, we will throw in a unique GT Academy dynamic theme as well the Honda NSX GT500 Stealth Model. Just to be clear, both the dynamic theme and the car are free with purchase of the Complete Pack. Again we are sorry for the delay and hope that fans will enjoy all of the fantastic new content to come for GT5.

Lastly, PlayStation Plus subscribers continue October’s month of content and discounts with some new discounts including 50% off Burnout Crash!, 70% off Under Siege, and free PSN titles in time for Halloween like Dead Nation, Burn Zombie Burn, Alien Zombie Death, and Age of Zombies. As noted, this week is also the only week that discounts on Okabu and Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken will be locked in.

Check out the full list of content below and drop your feedback or quick questions in the comments below. For more continued discussions on this week’s content, head to the PlayStation Store Update thread hosted by PSN Community Manager Morgan Haro.

  • still no “no wants to be a millionaire” what’s up with that ?

  • ok.. so since Star Trek: D-A-C is on sale for $5…

    > Star Trek: D-A-C – Sale (PS3) (now $4.99, original price $9.99)

    And + members get 40% off…

    > Star Trek DAC – 40% off

does that mean that + members get it for $3?

  • They really went strong with this update this time. But once again I still don’t see a Crash Bash as one of the PSOne Classics. C’mon PlayStation I want to relive the moment when I picked up that PSOne controller and let that game have at it. I also heard that the North American Demo Release for Sonic Generations isn’t coming until next Tuesday’s update (This is probably because of the fact that the first Sonic Generations Demo that came out in June for the PS3 was hacked by a lot of people)

  • Great update – lots of cool games.

My only complaint is I can’t understand the Payday character progression tree. Does it all happen automatically? I don’t see where I make choices.

  • @153: I LOVED Crash Bash; poured hours into that game!

  • yay the store was finally updated i hope its not going to be like this every week

  • Hey, there should be more halloween sales…

It’s nice to see the “Zombie games” in a section just for them, but where are the discounts?

I see Plants Vs. Zombies, The Dead Nation DLC and the Resident Evil games at their normal prices, why isn’t there a discount on them for non-plus users???

Also, last year you guys promised a Halloween sale on Undead Knights for PSP, well, I’m still waiting for that discount to show up on the store…

  • Wow, what an awesome update! Thank-you Morgan Haro and everyone on the PSN PLUS team for the unexpected extra goodies! You know how to do icing on the cake just fine, don’t listen to the whiners.
Back during the Welcome Back program, I picked Infamous (which I really enjoyed) and Wipeout (mistake by me, not my kind of game) as my 2 freebies….. so it is neat to still get Dead Nation now as part of PLUS! Thanks!
(by the way, if you want to give away LBP or SuperStardust again, I still don’t have those…. :)
For those who like ratings, this update gets 5/5 in my book!
I will definitely be looking to renew my PS+ sub, so please keep up the good work, don’t slack off now!

  • PLEASE HELP…!!! Buy all games PLAY program, but I have not got any message which tells me that I can download the Payday game and accidentally down it from the store thinking it was avaliable and now deducted $ 20 from my account. Now I do, will return my money??

  • I am an EU Plus subscriber and I just have to say your complaints today are really not necessary. Go the eu blog and look at our ‘Mid Month Treats’

  • I have a suggestion for a future month on PLUS : give PLUS members several choices from which to choose their free games. It would work similar to how the Welcome Back program gave us 5 choices and we picked 2. Give plus members 4 or 5 choices of Full games, and they get to pick 2; also with the Minis, give 4 or 5 choices, and let us pick 2. This way you can mix in some old games (which newer members don’t have) with some new games (which old members don’t have). You could also mix genres/game types/game ratings so that there is more likely to be something for everyone. Obviously there would still be a couple ungrateful whiners, but way more players would be excited with some choices.
I realize something like that might be tough to implement every month, but maybe every 3rd month could be a choice month. So 2 months you just tell us what we get, say Oct and Nov, then the 3rd we get choices, say Dec. Then March, June, and September could be choices months as well.
This is just another possibility for improving an already excellent service, keep up the great work!

  • Awesome stuff!

Anybody that hasn’t downloaded Under Siege should definitely consider it. With the amount of content if offers, 70% off is a steal!

  • I picked up dead space new on disk for about $7 from amazon long before dead space 2 was out. Now the digital version is available for over 200% the cost? Granted, that was an extremely good deal, but what is up with this horrible backward pricing trend for digital versions?

  • @Link1983

Extra free games are always nice. I don’t really have a complaint even thought these free games seem to repeat the same every few months.

The EU Blog is much better than the US Blog. You had a heads up, acknowledgement of an issue with Borderlands, Vita launch date announcement, Sing Store update (we haven’t had one in months), PSP game launch date, and feed back to questions.

YOu are right, complaining about the free games isn’t right. It’s the entire content of the Blog that isn’t right.

  • what a joke, every time i really consider PS+ you guys prove to me why not to. good job

oh and thanks for the store update, cant play a darn thing until end of week now because i dont have time, waited all night for that stuff only for it to happen at what almost wednesday? Free previously given games, pushed back releases for content sheesh.

i love sony, i love playstation but stuff like this makes you guys look even worse, kinda hard to back you up to friends when you clearly dont care.

  • i pre-ordered all the games on PSN Play, but still no message about the free game, Payday The Heist…

  • Burnout Crash for 50% off?! Wow, I guess I should have waited. Bought this when it was first released which seems was not even a full month ago. Wish I could get back the $5. Guess I should have been a little more patient.

  • There will be a Ratchet And Clank All 4 One trial?

    Just say Yes or No.

    Can someone answer?

  • good update

  • my subcription for plus is almost over…AND THESE FREE GAMES MAKE ME THINK ABOUT TO GET THREE MORE MONTHS YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SONY U ROCK!!!

  • /rant

    I’m dissapointed… VERY dissapointed…
Been waiting for Payday and Dungeon Defenders for ages…
Now it seems European Store don’t get them…
So i pre-ordered Payday from day 1… and now i can’t play on release day?…
Comon this is ridiculous… why are we europeans always left out?…
Funny thing is i got an american account also… just to check the american store…
I’m now playing Payday and Dungeon Defenders Trial from the american store…
If it runs on my european Playstation then WHY OH WHY AREN’T THE GAMES RELEASED IN THE EUROPEAN STORE!!!???!!!???

    /rant off

  • Thanks alot for NOT caring for ur European customers Sony… GREAT JOB!!!…

  • Europe is NOT getting Payday and Dungeon Defenders… great… nice job sony…
Thanks for pushing us Europeans back once again…
Pre-order to get it 1st… MY ASS!!!

  • Under Siege – 70% off

Awesome, I had held off on this because the game release was pushed back so far it overlapped with big name game releases. But I’ve been dying to play this game, at this price I can’t pass it up.

  • I’d like to hear some news on some upcoming PS2 classics!

    pleasepleasepleasepleaseplease

  • What about those who already own a copy of Ridge Racer 7? Are we getting a patch for the “3D License Version” update anytime soon?

  • Thanks Morgan for replying.
Regarding the R&C:A4O trial, you said “dates change”. Well when did the date change and why weren’t we notified? Grace Chen, the director who posted both the store update info and the Plus info back on Oct 3rd must have known that we were told we were getting something on a given date and then that we weren’t. Why weren’t we warned? The whole idea of this blog is to pass on information. We were informed we were getting the trial and then we didn’t. Would people have been upset when told beforehand something was canceled? Yes. But not nearly as upset as waiting up until midnight ti find out. You also said we would be getting it “soon enough”. Well, soon enough was yesterday, nothing after that is soon enough. If you would have warned us last week about the delay and said “soon enough”, well ok then. But AFTER the game trial is supposed to be out, no, not soon enough. Do you have kids? Probably not, b/c if you did you would know “soon enough” is not an acceptable answer to 6 and 9 yr. old boys who have been waiting for 2 weeks.

  • Is the store borked?

  • Hey, I know this is way late, but had PC problems. Can you PLEASE, STOP WITHT HE SINGLE DOWNLOADS OF FREE AVATARs, that SHOULD be in a Bundle as 1 download, not 5, 6, 7, +. Man this is a pain in the rear. Yesterday you gave us the FREE Halloween Avatars, GREAT, but why not put em in the bundle as 1 download?

If you are releasing MULTPLE Items, like the Avatar bundles etc, PLEASE MAKE THEM INTO 1 Click button ADD, not EACH one.

    Haskell

  • Oh 1 more thing.
I also have a question about a article I read about how in Japan, they came out with a Uncharted 3 TV Ad, starring Harrison Ford!!! He’s playing it, and talking about how amazing it looks, plays etc. That is AWESOME on so many levels the bottom line WILL Increase for it as a reult.

Now also in this article it said that it is UNKNOWN at this time if that Ad, with Ford will play here in the USA, And as of now, it looks like us here in the US, we will get another KevinButler Ad. Joy.

Question for the “marketing teams”? Are all of you that stupid or what?

Now I don;t know 100% whats going to appear on our TV sets here, but I can tell you this. If we get a UC3 TV Ad with Butler and NOT Harrison Ford? Then ALL OF YOU SHOULD BE FIRED. The “head honcho” who approved it, should also be FIRED and be DOCKED PAY for being a complete MORON. And that money goes to the one who pointed this out, ME.

Wanna know more Sony, email ME!

  • what happened to DC Universe Online free-to-play in the psn store its no where to be found ?

  • Thank you Sega! There wasn’t a chance in hell I was buying VCII for $40, but $23 with the DLC pack is right up my alley :)

  • I know I asked this before so does street fighter alpha3 support using the analog stick on the dual shock 3 controller?

  • time to start buyin!! I love my new skull its awesome!

  • Wow, Street Fighter Alpha 3! Thanks so much. Quick question: When will we have Tekken 3 in our PsOne Classics? Many Thanks.

  • Why is Deus Ex: Human Revolution – Explosive Mission Pack more expensive here than on the Xbox Marketplace? There it’s 240 points, which is $3, but it’s $3.50 on PSN.

  • Any word on when the Gran Turismo 5 DLC will be up? A week ago there was a blog post saying it would arrive Oct 18. Thanks.

  • Dungeon Defenders really needs to have a discount (20-40%) for PS Plus subscribers instead of DLC.

  • Come on, why make cool avatars exclusive to PS+? I’ve only bought one avatar, and it’s awesome, but finally there is another one worth grabbing, and it’s the jackolantern one, but I can’t buy it because I don’t have PS+…I hope it’s only a timed exclusive……..

  • First time reading the comments sections of these blogs, and over 50 percent of it is wining about how late the update is and how + users are getting a free game that was already a part of the “Welcome Back” program, even though Grace has addressed the concerns thrice. I’m with the other 30 percent who are harping on the winers. Better that we even get an update, than there be no update at all. I really appreciate what sony does, though admittedly, there is room for improvement, and it pleases me to see that people actually respond to the comments here. I’m serious. Now that that’s out of the way, here is my official first comment: I second the request for Tekken 3. I have 1 and 2 on my psp and would love to put in another hundreds of hours into Tekken 3 like I did years ago. And I believe Street Fighter Alpha 3 should have Analog/rumble support, since all other ps1 classics do.

  • DARK SOULS THEMES PLEASE!!! MAKE THEM DYNAMIC!!!

  • oh and another thing to add, the dlc is costumes, not music or avatars

  • GO GET PAYDAY NOW! This game is awesome! The matchmaking is finicky but if you keep updating the list you get into games fast. Go get this game and get online you will not regret it.

  • I am really happy Dead Space got on PSN, but could you upoad Dead Space 2? Or is their any chance they ,might in the future? My laser dosn’t work so my PS3 dosn’t read ANY disk at all and I am forced to but them from PSN (Although I prefer it since no scratches and that it’s in the HDD) I know you might not reply to this comment, but it’s worth a try :)

  • So any one use that Batman Beyond code?

Was thinking about getting Real Steel but the demo didn’t have any sound?!!!!!????!!!
Every thing else has sound, what kind of demo is this???!!
I have restarted the ps3, tried other games. So it not me.

  • Just wondering, is there a reson why the store does not show VC 2 on sale ?

  • In case it hasn’t been brought up, this is a heads up for people looking for the Valkyria PSP bundle deal. Browsing through PS Plus or Games->PSP only returns the normal standalone one for $39.99. You have to search for “Valkyria bundle” to find the bundle pack. Cheers.

  • First the late late late update, then you guys throw in FREE GAMES that 99% of PS PLUS user already have from the welcome back program. YES!! I know, it was just something extra you guys threw in for HALLOWEEN. Why not throw in SIREN: BLOOD CURSE. That would have been a nice icing on the cake. Even if it was 50% off for PS PLUS user.

Still pretty nice update. Downloading DUNGEON DEFENDERS, Okabu Demo and some others.

  • As an addendum, the Valkyria pack contains all 22 DLC.
