Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken for PS3 (PSN)

The wait is over! We’re very proud to announce that our cinematic platform adventure title Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is fully cooked and ready to serve up exclusively on PSN starting with today’s PlayStation Store update.

Building upon our critically acclaimed browser-based game Rocketbirds: Revolution!, it has been a real adventure for us working on Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken. When it came time to put together the launch trailer, it made me realize just how far the Rocketbirds have come! The one thing I really wanted for this launch trailer was for it to use the awesome Rocketbirds theme song, which New World Revolution put together especially for the game. So here it is — enjoy!

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is Only on PSN Starting Today

For those of you who are reading about this title for the first time, Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken takes you on a cinematic platform adventure through Albatropolis, a land overrun by an evil totalitarian penguin regime. You must take on the role of Hardboiled Chicken, the original Coq of War, and hunt down the corrupt penguin leader, Putzki. Along the way, you’ll have to kill many penguins, solve puzzles, incite revolution, and maybe possibly pilot a few jetpacks. Each chapter will unlock new cut-scenes and music videos that will unveil secrets about Hardboiled’s mysterious past and shed light on the real culprits behind the regime.

We’ve also built out a full couch Co-op campaign with a story all its own and six characters to choose from, which we’ve named the dirty half dozen. Play as pint-sized Budgie commandos on an entirely different mission to save the general’s bird-napped daughter.

As a bonus, Los Angeles based Sci-Fi rock band, New World Revolution, created exclusive music just for the game. Each track is artistically orchestrated to enhance the back story, humor and puzzle elements throughout both campaigns. You can find the Rocketbirds Soundtrack on iTunes.

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken is available exclusively on PSN for $11.99. We’ve jam packed this title with awesomeness and polished the heck out of it – so strap on your jetpack, get pumped up, and incite revolution! Thanks for following us through the game’s development and I hope you enjoy it! This game is also part of October’s Only on PSN program.

  • Does it have a PSN + (Plus) discount?

  • There’s a discount?!! YES how long will it last?

And it looks like 60 FPS, I hope it’s locked. Cuz I bought Sideway New York and that game would slow down tremendously.

  • I’m getting this one, thanks for the PS+ discount!

  • Oh wow a 2D game!! Iam so getting this! For some reason it reminds me of abe’s oddysee but with guns. Anywho looks way cool and keep bringing more amazing 2D games…I like that it has 3D also :)

  • Awe Snap. I Love plus. This will be part of my 60 dollar for Oct. And discount . Just to awersome. Say Mr Sian is that a Rocket Bird track on that video.

    • Yeah! It’s awesome, the remixed version of the Rocketbirds theme song by New World Revolution! I’m so glad we were able to use it for the launch trailer

  • I must say, this game is quite a blast. I beat it this past weekend after winning it from a playstation news site. It has some cool graphics and awesome music. Very fun, especially with some “jetpaction”. I recommend it to anyone who likes fun. Part way to getting my platinum trophy on this one as well.

  • If there’s no demo, I might end up impulse buying this one.

I remember hearing about this title back in the day when the browser game was nominated at IGF. Glad to see that someone recognized it had a place on consoles!

  • I’m about halfway through. Really fun game, has a separate co-op campaign, which I haven’t even started, and includes a Platinum trophy for all you trophy hunters out there. Definitely getting your money’s worth with this one. Hoping to see more stuff from Ratloop in the future, compliments to Sian and the team.

  • @ FireGuy13 and slickjones: How did you get Rocketbirds: Hard Boiled Chicken,

  • Haha, chickens with guns fighting off penguins? That’s pretty sweet. I like that there’s couch co-op too, though is it online aswell? If it’s not that’s fine. lol I’m still laughing at “the original Coq of War” line. This looks like an interesting/humorous buy, will there be a demo available at the store today?

  • I definitely buy this game! I love your work! and I hope see more games coming from Ratloop Asia!

  • Could be great a few avatars from the characters in psn too :)

  • @ ToKKeNbL00dMoNeY: I did. I said he must of used a voucher code or something
to download it off the store, and that the store had the game in the system already
    even before today’s update.
Meaning the game was made available a week or so, before today,
    only to a select few.

  • Cool ! Im very plesantly surprised bye this game, looks like fun :)

Upon first hearing the name all that came to mind was Angry Birds of which I’m not a fan and found a complete snooze fest. This looks cool so i will pick it up and give it a whirl :)

  • @jave-lin its ok man i was just being a bugger lol, i just thought iit was funny :P im just in one of those laugh at everything moods :) but ya i know what ya mean and ment i just thought i would point out the information so you knew lol

  • Im definitely getting this, it will be my first download. I don’t know if i have enough to get this and Okabu(depends on Okabu’s price) but this takes first priority. Im excited to get the chance to play this.

  • was going to get the game anyway, but the PS+ discount is a nice bonus.

  • @jave-lin Yeah, it has been “secretly” on the store for about a week. I was given the voucher code on thursday and was able to download right away. They only gave out 10 codes from PlaystationLifestyle.net
With 30 trophies, including plat., its worth it. I haven’t played the co-op yet either, but I’m sure it will be fun as well. There is some good humor in the game also.

  • Sian Yue Tan,that’s a cool name XD

  • Does this game feature “co-op” or “COOP”? Get it? Because they’re birds. Okay, I’ll stop.

  • Are there any lady chicks in the game?:D

  • Aw man this game looks great!! First Day purchase for me, also Sony when can we expect the store to update? I can’t wait to play this and all the other games. Also everyone PayDay is out so go get it!

  • If anyone has a PC and wants to check out the prequel to this game, you can play it at http://www.rocketbirds.com/revolution.php

So awesome, can’t wait to grab Hardboiled when it goes live on PSN!

I didn’t really like the keyboard controls on the PC game, looking forward to playing it with a controller on PS3.

  • It’s up everyone, just use search in store.

  • Downloaded , Played it, Love It and now buying it :)

Great job guys ! Very fun and definitely worthy of a sequel.

Thanks for bringing this to the PS3 and all the extras you threw in vs the PC version.

  • I’ll try the demo soon, but I’m currently playing a little-known game called BATMAN: ARKHAM CITY!!!

  • This game is rated M in the US and PEGI 12 in the UK? Are the British a bunch of monsters or are the Americans seriously a bunch of prudes? 12 and 18 is a big difference, no?

Is the rating system the same in Europe as it is in the US ? Sounds like the rating criteria may be different.

    • @rjer & @candycabngfl: it’s the same game, but rated by different ratings agencies, so what they look for is different. Quite different actually! – the ratings agencies gave us the full spectrum: Korea 18+, ESRB (USA / CAN) 17+, USK (Germany) 16+, CERO (Japan) 15+, ACB (Aus / NZ) 12-15 and PEGI (Rest of Europe) 12+

  • Don’t like the rolling. It gets u shot when trying to sneak up on enemies. Other than that the game looks and plays great.

  • Downloaded the game the other night, thoroughly enjoying it so far. The enemy control tactic is hilarious when your done using them. Main title theme is great too. Thanks for a cool game.
