PlayStation Store Update

Grace Chen's Avatar + Posted by Grace Chen on Oct 25, 2011 // Sr. Director, PlayStation Store

Hey everyone,
It’s the final week of celebrating Only On PSN with the release of 2 exclusive PSN titles: inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood and PixelJunk SideScroller! Don’t forget that this is also the last week that you can purchase these, or any other content from the Store to go towards the $60 threshold to receive $10 back in November.

inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood delivers a darker adventure for Cole; complete with new powers, (did we mention he flies?) a new look for the city of New Marais, and access to the complete suite of User Generated Content tools. This downloadable inFAMOUS adventure is standalone and doesn’t require you to have previous inFAMOUS titles to play it.

For classic shmup action with a twist, you’ll want to get your hands on PixelJunk SideScroller. Q Games puts the PixelJunk twist on the genre with luminescent visuals, incredible bosses, and unforgettable powerups and weaponry to take on the masses.

Other PSN Games arriving this week include the now HD arcade classic Daytona USA, the hilarious puzzle action of Worms Crazy Golf, and just in time for Halloween: Zombie Apocalypse: Never Die Alone.

Also new to PlayStation Network this week is CinemaNow, an all new video service that further expands your video watching options on your PlayStation 3. CinemaNow gives you access to new releases movies and brings you TV episodes, many the day after they air. With over 15,000 movies and TV shows to choose from, you can rent movies in stunning HD complete with Dolby Digital Plus 5.1 surround sound; no subscription required! Grab it from the Store or in the My Channels section under the TV/Video Services XMB column.

PlayStation Plus subscribers; hope you’ve enjoyed October’s free content and discounts! We draw this month to a close by kicking off new discounts on a ton of new releases including 20% off inFAMOUS: Festival of Blood, Pixeljunk Sidescroller, and Worms Crazy Golf; 30% off new release Daytona USA, and 50% discounts on Mercury Hg, and 4 Elements. And that’s on top of new Full Game Trials, free themes, and free avatars!

Don’t forget to check out new demos like Sonic Generations, new full PS3 titles hitting the Store such as Call of Duty: Black Ops, and new add-ons for favorites like Gran Turismo 5 and Ace Combat Assault Horizon. Hit us in the comments or join the discussion on the PlayStation Forums hosted by PlayStation Network’s Morgan Haro/mochuuu. Thanks all, and happy gaming!

Anyone else really freaking sick of the PS+ exclusive avatars? So us regular customers aren’t good enough for Halloween avatars, nor Daytona ones now? Not to mention all the other ones we non-PS+ customers don’t get. It’s nice seeing how Sony treats their loyal player base.

PS Store improvement ideas:

Previews for EVERYTHING. PS 1,2,3, PSP, minis, and themes. Never really sure what I get with a PSP theme and would save some time rather than having to check out a game on the internet.

More bundles. At least on avatars (waiting for LA Noir), but don’t be afraid to get creative: like avatars + themes. Maybe even include them with the digital version of the game; it might persuade people to start buying digital rather than retail. And yes, the bundle needs to be cheaper than buying separately along with a PS+ discount.

Some type of organization options for download lists. Sorting through a few hundred items can be a pain and having to download 20 different avatars individually is not fun.

PAID for gt5 dlc bundle and got nothing. It’s not even on the download history list. Checked on the game’s dlc icon and says I haven’t bought it. Yet I got the email showing my purchases and the bundle is there, so I have evidence that I bought it. Also the icons on the store show up with a blue ps store icon instead if the traditional red. Fix this or give me back my money. (I only got the stealth nsx and theme showing on my download list).

I liked how buying the GT5 DLC bundle only gives you a leftover GT Academy theme and preorder stealth car but not the actually new stuff – that’s gonna confuse a lot of old dudes until you fix it.

+ MrBeatdown on October 25th, 2011 at 2:54 pm said:

For full game trials, can we get the option to not unlock trophies, or at least an option to delete them?

It’s a trial. I’m trying it because I’m not sure if I’ll like it. I don’t want trophies for a game I don’t like and don’t have permanently stuck on my trophy list.

I’d give Homefront a try, but I don’t want Homefront trophies stuck on my list forever if I decide I don’t want it. I’ve been passing on trials for a year because of this.

What a disgrace. Sony should be ashamed. Release DLC only for it to not work properly. Simply disgusting.

Please guys, one week more to fix GT5vDLC and you’ll actually make things worse.

I already paid $12,00 and nothing.

Everyone seems to be expiriencing the thing with blue icons and a red one on the track pack. me too. I’m sick and tired of all this waiting. We waited an extra WEEK to get our DLC and now everyone in the area is having problems. You guys need to either give us some money back after you fix it or I don’t know. I’m tired of all this waiting. It’s funny, i don’t recall Europe and Asia etc. having any trouble at all! :(

We continue to be shafted all the time and it’s ridiculous. Remind me not to by a Sony console when we move on to the next wave of consoles that come in the future.

Not only is the GT5 DLC broken, but the promised PS Plus discount is not listed for it. From the PS Blog post from 10/18:
PlayStation Plus subscribers will also get a nice discount on the bundle for the first month of release – more details on that soon.

I believe there was the same issue in the EU when their store was updated last week . . .
