With PS Vita, the world is in play. PS Vita is the next generation portable entertainment system, providing interaction with the world around you. Unlike any other handheld device ever designed, PS Vita provides all new ways to play, including a complete, socially connected experience with the biggest and best games. From the beautiful, highest resolution front touch screen and rear touch pad, to the dual analog sticks, motion sensors and dual cameras, PS Vita will offer all new ways to engage and play your favorite games. • I really REALLY want to love the PS Vita, but it seems like you guys are making so many mistakes with it hardware-wise.

Where’s the SD (or at least MemoryStick Micro) slot?
Where’s the video out or mini-HDMI out?

The letters U, S and B (in that order, USB) are also missing as far as I can tell.

I own two PlayStation Portables and would LOVE to move up to the Vita, but I need to see the same commitment to video out and compatibility with memory cards that the PSP has (I was actually hoping for BETTER support for memory cards– SD cards or microSDXC would have been ideal; and better support for video– HDMI or at the very least component video out).

There’s still no indication that this device will even have video and audio playback capabilities. And the XrossMediaBar being gone is also disappointing (if this thing does do audio and video playback, how will one navigate their collections).

  • I’m interested in Little Deviants, but Touch My Katamari would have been a weird and awesome game to have with it. Also, like most people, I think both bundles should be available in both countries. Don’t mind the memory card, it will suffice until higher capacity cards get cheaper.

  • Oh god, I’m probably way too late to get by comment replied too but I’ll try anyway.

Will the rest of the launch software come out on Feb 15th as well(or at least your internally developed games)? If not, it’s going to be torture to have the Vita a week early and not be able to play Uncharted or Hot Shots :(

Already moved my preorder over to this bundle. Cannot wait.

  • a lot of suckers on here… i always get burned with early renditions of Sony hardware… $600 -60gb PS3, YLOD… early PS2, DRE… early PS1… DRE problems… did not get an early PSP, yet still had a dead pixel…. IF i get a Vita, it won’t be for a good long while… and i do not misuse my systems…

  • This has probably been answered before, but what I’m wondering is how much will the 3G service actually cost? Is there a monthly fee like most other 3G devices?

I know you have to get it through At&T, so it must cost something. Could you let us know how much per month a subscription will cost? Thank you.

  • If it only came with Uncharted: Golden Abyss and not Little Deviants *sigh*

  • Hello folks!

I live in Canada and pre-ordered the “1st edition” Vita bundle today at Gamestop.

I actually stopped by a Toys R Us in the same mall 1st, they had absolutely no idea what I was talking about. Gamestop THOUGHT they knew what I was talking about , then looked in the computer and found what I was REALLY talking about. They collected 50 bucks and my receipt says “1st edition” in the product description.

Also put 5 bones on Uncharted 3 CE :P !

    Good hunting!

  • If this was available at gamestop you’d have yourself a deal. But since it’s not i’ll just keep my preorder for the wifi model there.

  • Waaaaaayyy to expensive. =-(

  • I love how all the Americans are complaining about only having the 3G version, when I’m a Canadian that hates that we get the Wi-Fi only. Lets switch.

  • What’s the link for Canadian pre-order?

  • Is the Vita going to launch in any colors aside from black? Call me silly or girly, whatever, but I really want a white Vita just like my white AC PSP. I love the coloring on it and I’ve kinda sworn off the Vita until it launches in that color. I don’t like the idea of rebuying a handheld once they launch a new color.

  • Also much like all the other people I wouldn’t buy that first edition due to 3G model and the game selection. I can wait a whole week to get my hands on it IF I buy it on launch day.

  • If this was $300, then this would be solid. At $349.99 you’re scamming everyone. No one is really going to buy Little Deviants, let’s be honest with ourselves here. The case, we’re all already buying better 3rd party cases on launch anyway. What’s 4GB going to do for me when the games are capped at 2-4GB anyway? I’m already forced to buy at least 2 32GB memory cards that’s coming out, one for my PSP games on my Go, and the other for my Vita stuff.

  • Awesome cant wait to get that !

  • When I read the headline I got excited, but then I read the article. I really want the Vita, but if the Wi-Fi model isn’t offered as a bundle here in the states, then no. This is the one time I can think of that the Canadians get the better deal.

  • You had me up until you said it was only for the 3G model in the US. Pass. I can wait a week, even more if need be.

I know you are pushing the 3G system, Sony, but giving the option to have a wifi bundle stateside would have gotten you SO many more impulse preorders. Myself included.

  • 1. How much will the 3G version be monthly? Give us more details about it!
    2. Give us the option to choose the game we want with this first edition bundle.
    3. Most people like having just a WiFi version, why not give us the option to choose that too. I don’t want 3G. But if the monthly fee is low, I might considered it.

You almost had me, but when I read 3G version will cost another 50 bucks, and the game that comes with it is some random no name game, that was my cue to start reading even more.

And towards everyone that likes the 3G, Why do you need 3G anyways? What’s so special about it? I mean yeah, you get to play games with your friends online, but do you actually play in the middle of nowhere in order to play. Can’t you just go hang with your friends and use their WiFi. And for those that have 3G in their phones, I really see no need to have 3G on the PSPVita. I rest my case.

  • No plain WiFi for US? Boo.

  • I’m totally getting this. To the people asking about pricing for 3G, it’s on ATT’s website. Also, if you get a wifi+3G model, you can use only the wifi portion and not pay for 3G. Not paying for the 3G doesn’t magically make the wifi not work people. It’s just like on a 3G iPad. I think it’s totally worth the money to have the option :)

  • @218 why pay for something you are never going to use, also, mist modern smart phones (that several people buying the vita will have) will have the ability to tether, providing cheaper and a cap-free online-anywhere solution for the Vita.

    Also, I hate At&t.

  • most* i wish we had an edit button on here…

  • I don’t want the 3g version, I’ll wait 1 week for the wifi version instead. I already have 4g on my phone. I honestly think it’s dumb to have 3g on the vita since you can’t even play online with 3g because of major lag. People nowadays have phone to surf the net. Bundle me wifi version and i’ll definitely buy it.

  • Like many others, I would pre-order a $299 US deal for: the Vita, 4GB memory card, Little Deviants, and case. I don’t really care about receiving the package a week early, but have the deal on Amazon (like the $349 package is now).

Just pull a Netflix and admit that it was wrong to offer the 3G deal in the first place… then offer the $299 deal as described above and all will be good [for me, at least].

  • I am only interested in the “Wi-Fi only” version.

  • Sony, you cruel cruel temptress.

  • @212: I’m buying Little Deviants. :/

  • Already switched my pre-order! can’t wait to get the Vita a week early! Finally Canada gets thrown a bone :)

  • Come on, give us a Wi-Fi-only bundle in the US. This is garbage. And you haven’t even bothered to announce the details of the 3G plans yet. If you’d bother to do that, it might, JUST MIGHT, affect my decision to get that, depending on what the actual plans are. But considering that info is still MIA, I’ll be sticking with just my Wi-Fi-only model, which is still completely paid off.
    Can’t wait for 2.22.12

  • Guys listen. For everyone saying you don’t have to use the 3g and you don’t have to pay the monthly fee if you don’t want to, whats the point of getting the 3g version then? Most people have a phone with 3g or 4g. So what is going to make them pay an extra $50 plus and a monthly fee? Also the 3g model doesn’t have anything extra that the wifi doesn’t besides the 3g and gps. Not only all the above but what can you actually do with the 3g…..um play multiplayer? NOPE. Download games? NOPE. Basically all you can do is surf the web and see your PSN friends list. PLUS having your 3g on is going to drain your 3-5 battery life even faster! As a person that already has a plan with AT&T (4g) I can see why a lot of people are saying that AT&T isn’t that great. If I have good 4g signal and I take one small step to the left or right I could completely loose my 4g signal and that happens to me all the time and could get pretty frustrating but this could simply be because 4g isn’t in as many places as 3g (even though Los Angeles should be pretty covered). So if you want to pay $50 and the $25 monthly fee (if you decide to use it and hopefully its cheaper then $25) then go ahead but thats why no one wants it.

  • @lyfestory

Well good for you. You may think we are idiots but we are serous gaming fans (note gaming not Sony). As for all of those problems you listed I have have had gen one systems from Sony no prob Microsux now that is another story.

  • LOL the united kingdom gets both 3g and wi fi version =D

  • I had the Vita pre-ordered when it was first announced and Amazon had it available. I have since cancelled my pre-order and would renew it if the WiFi bundle was the one coming out, now I think I might not get one at all. Really not liking how you roll any more Sony!

  • I’m actually really considering picking this up. Then I can be a show off haha

  • @Enforcer_X You can buy either model with this bundle

  • I’m interested. Long live Sony and Playstation!

  • ok, so where do i pre-order this from?

  • Well had 2nd thoughts about getting the Vita at launch since the PSP 1000’s from Japan had so many problems. But alas, this deal is too good to pass up. It will be at least $25 in tax if bought at stores, covering half of the Extra $50 already added. Cases for the Vita run From $29+ it seems, and a card about the same. So to get $100 free of stuff is nice, even if Little Deviants doesn’t appeal to me much. I would love Gravity as the choice ;p or UMvC3. I hope that there isn’t many issues like the PSP1000’s and it sucks that Flash isn’t launch enabled. I hear rumors that 20MB of Free 3G data, I could deal with that, especially since anything free rocks.

My loyalism to you Sony will never die, but please release a finished system, and don’t push it out before its ready. For I would rather wait till its done, than half done. <3

  • @235, obviously you didn’t read the full Blog then, 3G only for US, Wifi only Canada, and so on.

  • They told me ps vita would come out in 1/13/12 when I went to Pre-order it in puerto rico gamestop

  • This bundle sounds abt rite if it was wifi version only…..have 1 question is there gona be diffrnt colors fot vita i so want one in white…..please answer would help alot

  • Had there been a US WiFi only bundle option, I’d have been sold. As it is, It’s a major disappointment that there is only one option for 3G, even worse that it’s AT&T…

  • If you guys want the Wifi Bundle that bad then why don’t you just import it from Canada??

  • I’d pre-order but the memory card is too small, I want 32GB. Also, that case is ugly >.> rather wait for something nice looking from Japan and import.

  • Champchong said that ps4 is coming in 2014 is it true

  • I didn’t read through all of the comments yet, so excuse me if this has already been covered.

This bundle is also available for pre-order through Best Buy!!
I changed my pre-order from the wifi model to the first edition. I think it’s a great bundle.
My only concern is… If I’m getting the 3G model do I HAVE to sign up for 3G service when I buy it, or can I use it without ever activating the 3G?

  • @John Koller

I also don’t think it’s a strong bundle, but I really do appreciate that your group is trying something interesting for the US release of the Vita. And now…A question. Will this bundle roll out with more retailers? The post states “retailers”, but it is currently only Amazon. I love Amazon, but because of Best Buy’s Reward Zone/Gamers Club, I do most of my business there. Being a lighthouse customer, I’ll switch my wifi pre-order to this bundle if it is offered through Best Buy.

    BEYOND!

  • I know Sony is making more (or losing less) off the 3G version of the PSV but why isn’t the Wi-Fi bundle being sold in the U.S.? I know you guys want to push that model more but come on… Having pre-ordered the Wi-Fi model shortly after E3 I’m not at all compelled to cancel it and take this bundle because I just like a lot of others have zero need or interest in the 3G functionality. I’ll save the $100 in cost increase with this bundle and put it towards a game or two I’m interested in, a case (maybe a screen protector too) and one of the PSV’s over priced (understandable but, it’s clearly a version of the M2s that can be had for $5 at 4GB, in a altered shell) memory cards, they just better be Class 10 to at least somewhat justify their price. If the Wi-Fi bundle was available here I would strongly consider going with it.

I’m sure I’m not alone in still being truly undecided as to whether or not keep my pre-order. I might not even bother with a PSV game at launch, if I keep my pre-order at all that is since I’ve yet to see that *must have* launch game for me. I might just end up getting a PSP game or two of the store or just wait a few months.

    Four months left….
