PlayStation Store Update

Grace Chen's Avatar + Posted by Grace Chen on Nov 15, 2011 // Sr. Director, PlayStation Store

Hi Everyone -
Coming to the PlayStation Store this week is a new category called PS3 Full Games for games that were previously disc only but are now available to download on PSN. Not only will this make it easier for you to find those larger previously disc-only experiences, but you’ll also find DLC, add-ons, demos, and any other content associated with games in this category all housed in the same area once you click on the respective game. Games that are developed and exclusively available via download are now in the newly created PSN Games category.

Kicking off the new PS3 Full Game category is the release of Red Dead Redemption and the Undead Nightmare Collection. You can either download these 2 standalone titles separately, or save some money and pick up the bundle including both Red Dead Redemption (Full Game) and its zombified expansion Undead Nightmare Collection (Add-on). All Red Dead Redemption content is 30% off, or snag a 50% discount if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber.

In PSN Game new releases; check out Jurassic Park – The Game, from the episodic masters of gaming: Telltale Games. This 4 episode experience brings gamers back to Isla Nublar to deliver a new take on the Jurassic Park experience. If you took advantage of the Plus subscription offer from a few weeks back, you’ll find a voucher code to download Jurassic Park (all 4 episodes) waiting for you in your PS3 inbox.

Additional new PSN releases this week include Burgertime WorldTour, After Burner Climax and Hollywood Squares.

PlayStation Plus subscribers, you’ll find new content this week in the form of new discounts and full game trials including 20% off Jurassic Park: The Game on the full series bundle. You can also grab a free PlayStation mini with Doodle Fit. Lastly, get your avatar in the holiday spirit with free avatars, exclusively for Plus subscribers.
That’s this week’s update but check the full list for more details. Drop your comments and questions below, or jump over to the Store Update Thread on the PlayStation Community.

Yes JP will work even if you let your PS Plus sub lapse. This is a special exception as usually, the free content you get with Plus are tied to your subscription. But if you do renew after you lapse, you’ll get access to all content you downloaded previously.

Scratch my first comment, just redeemed the voucher. I can’t wait to see what Telltale has done with the world. If it’s anything like I’m expecting, it looks like I’m going to have to take a break from the other amazing games I’m playing right now.

19

+ CynicalNerd on November 15th, 2011 at 3:03 pm said:

@mixedkidbx then go buy some games and stop waiting for sales like a free loader.

and people need to stop asking for skyrim as a full game. its a 5 gig install with the disc..with the disc its another 12 gigs. Why host a 17 gig game when you could easily go out and buy it and not worry about bandwidth?

Besides a physical copy is infinitely better than digital..why would you want to own such a gem as a digital game?

+ FORMIK on November 15th, 2011 at 3:06 pm said:

I don’t get it. Didn’t Red Dead Redemption just get released as a Game of the Year edition? Why not then have a discounted version of that? I understand having discounts for DLC, for those that have owned the game a while. But why would a new player (such as myself) want to purchase a digital version knowing there is a retail version that contains everything?
Am I missing something here?

The Red Dead Redemption + Undead Nightmare bundle contains everything (DLC, expansion, etc) along with a limited time 30% discount for everyone and 50% Plus discount. So there’s an option for you that has everything. Or you could just get the pieces you want.

PS3 Legacy: 3
PS2 Legacy: 0
PS1 Legacy: 1
PSP Legacy: 0
PCE Legacy: 0

That’s alright but as always it would be nicer to have at least one per category.

3 PSN games, 1 of which shall be boycotted (comments off for your blog post TTG? you guys used to be cool). Liking that the price off PSN games have gone back down to $10 by and large. No new Minis isn’t unexpected as that train has greatly slowed down this year. Nothing for PSP is always expected… :| Some nice discounts this week including the Pinballistik bundle (who didn’t see that one coming?). Only one demo and its a rehashed one at that, kind of lame. Plenty of videos helps make up for it. And hey, another soundtrack addition! Keep ‘em coming!

I think this one weighs in at about 3 out of 5 stars. Skimpy compared to recent efforts but decent in its own right.

@30 Any PS3 can be a 500gb or 1tb. I myself have a 500gb PS3, you just need to go buy a laptop hard drive then follow a very simple guide which can easily be found on the internet. The only real hassle i found is getting a way to transfer your existing saves and such. If you have an external USB hard drive it’s easy. It can take a few hours though.

Swapping hard drives doesn’t void the warranty or anything, btw.
