PlayStation Store Update

Grace Chen's Avatar + Posted by Grace Chen on Nov 15, 2011 // Sr. Director, PlayStation Store

Hi Everyone -
Coming to the PlayStation Store this week is a new category called PS3 Full Games for games that were previously disc only but are now available to download on PSN. Not only will this make it easier for you to find those larger previously disc-only experiences, but you’ll also find DLC, add-ons, demos, and any other content associated with games in this category all housed in the same area once you click on the respective game. Games that are developed and exclusively available via download are now in the newly created PSN Games category.

Kicking off the new PS3 Full Game category is the release of Red Dead Redemption and the Undead Nightmare Collection. You can either download these 2 standalone titles separately, or save some money and pick up the bundle including both Red Dead Redemption (Full Game) and its zombified expansion Undead Nightmare Collection (Add-on). All Red Dead Redemption content is 30% off, or snag a 50% discount if you’re a PlayStation Plus subscriber.

In PSN Game new releases; check out Jurassic Park – The Game, from the episodic masters of gaming: Telltale Games. This 4 episode experience brings gamers back to Isla Nublar to deliver a new take on the Jurassic Park experience. If you took advantage of the Plus subscription offer from a few weeks back, you’ll find a voucher code to download Jurassic Park (all 4 episodes) waiting for you in your PS3 inbox.

Additional new PSN releases this week include Burgertime WorldTour, After Burner Climax and Hollywood Squares.

PlayStation Plus subscribers, you’ll find new content this week in the form of new discounts and full game trials including 20% off Jurassic Park: The Game on the full series bundle. You can also grab a free PlayStation mini with Doodle Fit. Lastly, get your avatar in the holiday spirit with free avatars, exclusively for Plus subscribers.
That’s this week’s update but check the full list for more details. Drop your comments and questions below, or jump over to the Store Update Thread on the PlayStation Community.

Hey Morgan just a tiny suggestion. I’ve noticed that you guys only post the percentage of the PS Plus discount not the actual price. Now I can do the calculations in my head or with a little help from a calculator with the percentage posted and the normal price but I think it would be easier if you just posted the actual price. Other than that great update as always. I have to choose between Red Dead or Jurassic Park for this week… decisions, decisions :)

Fortune Hunters Club is looking like a let down $10 in MP skins plus a extra $1.50 if the free killzone 3 content doesnt get fixed only thing that will really make it look like a waste is when the first map packs come out if they’re around $5.99 a set FHC will really be a waste of time .RDR $25 for PS+ and adding a 18 GB file to my hard drive I’d rather just get the disc I’m not going to start complaining for the second week in a row so I’ll just leave it right there hopefully you guys are holding out on all the goodies for black friday because this month has been subpar at best

Thanks

I haven’t the room for it on my PS3 (need to gut that busted Alienware and see how big its HDD is), but I may just get that RDR collection, considering the GOTY disc is forty bucks still. And, since I figure my dad would play it more than anyone, now would be the time, so if I have to go past two active PS3s, he can still have access to it. On that note, I’ll finally pick up NOBY NOBY BOY, and, eh, maybe BurgerTime World Tour. One of my three favorites on my dad’s ol’ Intellivision II (along with Frogger (suggit, arcade!) and Shark! Shark!), so that might be another I’d want to leave with ‘em.

Question…

I don’t think I want Red Dead Redemption but if I buy Undead Nightmare by itself, I should have 0 problem, right?I know there is a stand alone disc and didn’t know if this was the same.

121

+ BlindsideDork on November 15th, 2011 at 5:26 pm said:

Also, some of this is confusing…

RDR Undead Nightmare is $10.50 and is the stand alone game.
RDR Undead Nightmare Collection (Bundle) is $10.50 is all the DLC but NOT Undead Nightmare game?
RDR Undead Nightmare Pack is $4.90 and is DLC for Undead Nightmare.

And if you want EVERYTHING RDR, it is $21 for the game, $10.50 for Undead, & $10.50 for all the DLC making the total $42?

Is this correct?

I just bought the “Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare Collection” Bundle. Apparently this gave me the downloads for the “Red Dead Redemption” Game, and the “Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare” Game.

I’m lost. I thought I’d be getting the “Red Dead Redemption” Game, along with the following add-ons: the “Red Dead Redemption Undead Nightmare Collection”, (that includes the “Undead Nightmare Pack”, Liars and Cheats Pack”, Legends and Killers Pack”). As well as the the “RDR Packs for “Deadly Assassin Outfit Pack”, “Golden Guns Weapons Pack”, and the “War Horse Pack”.

But it seems I’m just getting two separate games? and absolutely zero add-on packs.

@ YungShep Just wanted to reiterate what D_Generate87 said about swapping out hard drives. You really don’t need a guide even, as once you open that door on your PS3, all will be pretty easy to figure out. I myself have a 320Gb hard drive in my fat PS3 and a 1TB external hard drive, so…all music, vids, and save backups go on the external, and all games on the internal. Plenty of room for a full back up too if you ever needed to swap out hard drives for whatever reason.

So sad. I saw the promotion banners for “FREE Jurassic Park to PS+ Subscribers” and just assumed I was included in that; being that I’m a PS+ subscriber.

It’s sad because of the nature of the program. I understand special offers to get people to subscribe; but the program is itself a promise for Free and specially priced content.

It seems to me that it would have made more sense to put a big push behind a game that we’re ALL getting for free in order to entice new memberships. Doing it the way it was done gives the impression that existing subscribers are less important because we’ve already handed over our money.

141

+ easyriderzombie on November 15th, 2011 at 6:58 pm said:

+ BlindsideDork on November 15th, 2011 at 7:01 pm said:

What a lot of people don’t seem to grasp is that the Jurassic Park PS+ deal is for adding a subscription. It is NOT a PS+ bonus. The copy is yours to keep FOREVER. If you cancel your PS+ tomorrow or let it subscribe, you’d still have the game unlike other PS+ products.

Really good deal, wow! 50$ in the Stores, 24$ Online, it’s a no brainer! I generally prefer to have boxes (even if I have to pay 10$ more or so, but savint 25$ is really nice (plus taxes) lol.

SOMEONE. Please confirm. I just bought the Red Dead Redemption and Undead Nightmare Collection bundle for PS+ for about $25. It gave me two downloads. RDR Game. And RDR:UN Game. These are two separate games with a combined download of about 17-18GB.

Does the RDR:UN Game that is downloaded with the bundle run as a seperate game? or is it accessed within the RDR game itself? Are the add-on contents included in the RDR:UN Game itself, or only in the Collection bundle? And if so, are they accessable in RDR itself?

RDR Game is about 8.2GB
RDR: UN is about 9.7GB
So, about 18GB HDD footprint.

IF I had received, as I expected, with my purchase of this bundle, the RDR game and the RDR:UN Collection bundle of addons, would the HDD foot print have been smaller? and would it have been integrated into a single game listing, instead of 2? OR would either scenario resulted in the same results with the same HDD footprint size?

@DevanGelic

Im in the same boat. it appears if you buy the 24.99 bundle that you’re actually downloading 2 retail games thus the trophy count would be seperate into two games.

I dont know if this is a bug or feature but currently the only way to get Undead Nightmare as an addon it seems is to download the Undead Nightmare collection BUNDLE seperately which is 10.49 iirc for plus members.

I am going to do this and eat the loss of 4 dollars because I cant be bothered to fight about it

WORD OF WARNING TO ALL BUYERS – the 24.99 bundle for plus users is two seperate games.
