Hi Everyone –
Coming to the PlayStation Store this week is a new category called PS3 Full Games for games that were previously disc only but are now available to download on PSN. Not only will this make it easier for you to find those larger previously disc-only experiences, but you’ll also find DLC, add-ons, demos, and any other content associated with games in this category all housed in the same area once you click on the respective game. Games that are developed and exclusively available via download are now in the newly created PSN Games category.

  • What’s going on with The Red Dead Redemption + Undead Nightmare collection bundle it was supposed to contain everything (DLC, expansion, etc) but just got RDR and RDR:UN

    Any news on this?

  • @Morgan, why do you go silent on things like this RDR issue? You obviously watch the comments considering your many other responses and I’m sure you guys have to figure out what’s going on, but why can’t you at least come on and say something like, “It does appear something isn’t right, and we’re looking into it. We’ll have more info soon.”

The whole point of this blog is for communication with your customers. More communication, please. :)

    • Sorry, I had not checked the comments from page 4 on of the comments here where folks started discussing the issue.

Making posts in the Official Store Update thread that is linked to on all Store Updates helps as it sends me an email directly everytime someone posts. But no excuses on my part. As mentioned on page 4, I’m looking into this issue now.

  • Ok…I went back and RE READ the original post about the Jurassic Park promo and I’m posting to admit that I was wrong. I didn’t read enough of the post to see that it stated existing members need to purchase an additional 12 month subscription between 11/1 and 11/8 in order to get the game for free. Yes, the do state that.

Where I went wrong was that when I read it saying people neede to become members of PS+ between 11/1 and 11/8 I WRONGLY assumed that it was a cut off date to become a member and receive this game free…I assumed that like all other free games given to PS+ members ALL MEMBERS OF PS+ would get the free game as well. The post does clearly state that isn’t the case and I didn’t read far enough into the post to see it. I guess I have just enjoyed my PS+ membership so much that I wasnt thinking that SONY would require an additional purchase from me in order to get a “free game” from my “free game membership” that I already subscribe to. Kind of like a membership within a membership.

I still think PS+ is a great deal…but I’m disappointed with myself for not having read that part of the post…and disappointed with SONY for handling the Jurassic Park give away in this manner.

  • I’m posting in this thread again due to the issues everyones having with RDR

Currently if you download RDR Standalone (for 20.49 or so) and RDR Undead Nightmare Collection ADD-ON (10.49 or so) you will get everything except for the paid DLC stuff such as the Golden Guns, war Horse and something else I think it’s a skin pack or something)

Even though you bought all these things, such as myself, it will not show up on your DLC on the main screen. It will say you have no DLC installed

HOWEVER, you will – you will have everything you paid for. The Undead Nightmare Collection add-on contains UN and Liars and Cheats and Legends/Killers pack. When you go to single player there will be an option to select from either RDR normal or UN

When you go to MP there will be able to do your poker and your legend/killers playlists – however you might need to level once or twice to see them…i dont remember.

  • Currently as of this post the only way to get everything neatly in one game is to download RDR and UN Collection bundle which will ring you up about 31.48 if my memory still works. this figure is assuming you are a Plus member.

If you download the other .99 cent dlc, like i did as well, it will also not show up in your DLC list on the main screen – but you will have access to all of them in game. Warhorse is in your inventory, golden guns are in your options-config menu. etc

hopefully that makes things a little more easier for the time being

  • @phatmillips The problems are with them downloading as separate games.

First, it’s 2 huge downloads with all the duplicated assets taking up space on your hard drive. If it was just the UN DLC Collection content, it wouldn’t be as nearly as big as the standalone version of UN.

Second, there are items, challenges, etc. in the UN add-ons that affect the main game, but because they are separate full game downloads, that content can never cross over into the main RDR game.

Again, I don’t think they meant to do it like this. The DLC collection or standalone UN game are about the same price and the way they did it is worse for players and also harder on Sony’s servers and bandwidth.

Just waiting for a comment from above…

    Crickets….

  • After talking to CS, I am now waiting 7-10 business days for an email to let me know when they “switch” my content. I didn’t want a refund. I wanted what I paid for. Which is the RDR Game and the RDR:UN Collection bundle. Because as it stands with what I got; Which was RDR Game and the RDR:UN Standalone Game, when inside the RDR Game, it has options to play RDR or UN versions, when trying to go into UN within RDR it just doesn’t work. Within the RDR game, going into Downloaded content, it says none. Going into the RDR:UN standalone Game it has no downloadable content as well, nor does it have the option to switch between versions of the Game, which is understandable because what was download was the Standalone game. With what I should have gotten, the RDR Game and the RDR:UN Collection bundle I should only have the one game, and within that game be able to switch versions and have Downloadable content listed.

  • CS was polite and understanding, but because of the confusing naming and repeating of the names of these RDR contents, mistook directions of thought. And in the end, I have to wait a week to be able to play this game. Along with that, because of the upcoming changes to PSN regarding content activation, I’ll now be limited to 2 devices for this game, instead of having the full load of 5 devices.

  • SONY do you read these posts ? hope you read mine. Im really enjoyin the PS2 classics on PSN. hopefully more comin.. any info on remakes of original MX vs ATV or THE SUFFERING.. or Ratchet and Clank… just curious..

  • @DevanGelic I guess that’s good news. Thanks for posting. It sucks for people who haven’t bought yet that it’s still advertised wrong in all 3 places it’s listed, including the store. It’s not really vague either – the bundle on the store is just wrong and should be changed to include the UN DLC collection and not the standalone game. Should be easy. There should also be some official comment here to explain the proper procedure to everyone who has purchased already.

  • is this for psp

  • is this only 4 ps3

  • @skipcher Yeah, its just a cluster. I’ve had a few people message me about this as well who’ve read this blog but don’t have access to a PC but can still read it thanks to PS3. They’re in the same boat. One even went farther than me, and contacted the RDR publishing company. And he’s apparently getting the run around with Sony and the publisher pointing fingers at each other. I see no point in that. Mistakes happen. This was just a mistake because of how similarly named these contents are, as well as both being the same price. One is standalone game, the other is add-on content. We should have gotten the add-on content.

I’m hesitant about contacting the publisher about this matter because from my experience with Sony’s CS, the rep was polite, understanding and took the time to understand the problem. The reason for my hesitancy is that if the publishers did do something to fix it, say issued dl codes for the content, then, in the 7-10 days time, Sony’s attempt to fix this situation may cause me problems.

  • I just got off the phone with CS and while they were very polite, the operator was told to have me contact the publisher. Having received a message from SLICK_T that he already contacted them and got the finger-pointing back to Sony, I knew it would be frustrating and pointless to do so.

So I requested a refund on the purchase. It will take 7-10 days to get the money back my wallet, which puts us around Black Friday and maybe the GOTY disc edition will be on sale then. Regardless, it’d be worth paying a little more than going through this mess.

I’m sure it was just a mistake while putting the games up, with so many files bearing similar names. I’d bought the Borderlands bundle a few months back and had no trouble with that. To me, it would be a simple enough fix to simply let us download the Undead Nightmare Collection to replace the standalone, but apparently, that’s not going to happen.

  • Thats all fine stuff and all but when im i getting my renagade ops add-ons that sony has owed me since oct.

  • great, I’m going to get that undead nigthmare add-on

  • Come on guys! Daytona USA’s been out on US PSN since last month, and you’re still making us wait! And don’t pin the blame on SEGA-I asked them and they said it was Sony’s scheduling. So what’s going on? And why no solid release date for it in Europe yet? I love that game, and it’s utterly unfair that you’re doing this to Europeans.

  • whats sega number ???

  • Excuse me Morgan I recently purchased Chrono Cross on PSN to play on my PSP I”m having issues with the elements freezing up. Any way you could possibly advise me on that? Thank you.

  • i want too play some starhawk

  • Eat more cheese.

  • Pretty crapy week for new content. To be fair, with all the retail releases coming out it probably makes sense not to even try competing with that.

  • Guys don’t buy Chrono Cross for the PSP. When you go to use elements it will sometimes freeze the entire game. I knowit’s not my PSP cause I’m only having trouble with one game all others are working perfectly. It’s a glitch in the game so please as a warning don’t waste your money.

  • I called Sony around 9:00am to ask about the Red Dead Redemption + Undead Nightmare Collection.
Last night I purchased the combo for the listed $24.99 (PSN Plus Price), which reset the store pages for me and made the selections Red Dead Redemption (Full Game) and Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare (Full Game). I was pretty tired so I didn’t think much about it, and started the downloads before bed.
This morning I found that I had two full games and no DownLoad Content (DLC). Also my two games were not linked together and under the menu options it said I had zero download content.

I then realized that I was suppose to receive the Undead Nightmare Collection, which contains the following add-ons: Undead Nightmare Pack (which is the Undead game add-on), Killers and Legends Pack, and the Liars and Cheaters packs. So now instead of getting a full game version of Red Dead Redemption (8.3 Gigabytes) and the add-on packs (which assume are around two gigabtyes, I got the Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmares (Full Game Standalone) which was 9.8 gigabytes.

  • I called Sony for help, but I didn’t receive any helpful information other than to call Rockstart (I politely declined), or I could try redownloading the games (pointed out that wont help) then I was told to download the Undead Nightmare Collection from my download list (which I explained I didn’t have). I was told I would receive a call by around 1:00pm PST and didn’t not receive one. So I called back to which I was told i would most likely receive a refund (not guaranteed). I agree with the above individual that we should just receive the Undead Nightmare Collection (which we should have received in the first place. Instead I now am waiting for 7-10 business days just to find out if I can receive a refund for a game a purchased.

  • I paid $24.99 for the advertised special which clearly states the contents on more than one Sony location. Instead I received other content that wasn’t as described at all. Now I’m waiting for a refund. I’m not a pleased customer at all, and rarely post on these blogs, and never post negative information. I just want other members to know that purchasing the Red Dead Redemption + Undead Nightmare Collection is broken in the PSN Store. You could buy the full Red Dead Redemption game and the Undead Nightmare Collection separate might work better. Just don’t say I didn’t warn you all!

  • I agree with ryanumber1, Don’t buy the bundle until they have figured out this whole mess.
I payed $24.99 to have fun, not to have a headache.

  • I also spoke with customer service about the RDR bundle issue and they were very nice and super helpful, even though they were also a bit confused at first. It’s an understandable mistake because it’s confusing with all the content options. Anyway, they understand the issue and are on top of it. Supposedly a fix is on the way for everyone, but it might take a few days. In the meantime, just start with the main game and wait for the UN DLC stuff.

  • Thanks for fixing the issue with the fortune hunter club on the day it happend! Still a dedicated Naughty Dog fan! :D

  • I want Breath of Fire 3 release next for a PS1 classic. Thank you ^^

  • I swear the ONLY thing that gets me when Sony does things like it is doing with the Jurassic Park game is that while yes it is cool that they are letting those that sign up for the service get the game for free, what about those of us that have loyal maintained a plus account. I mean when I signed up I went for a 1 year subscription so I don’t want to have to renew my subscription when there is still PLENTY of time on it. Now while we have been getting some great benefits and the like for our plus accounts, I just find it to be bull that they offer a game such as Jurassic Park for free to people so as they will get an account meanwhile those of us that already have an account have to pay full price. So Sony please explain to me WHY is it that people opening a plus account get games for free but those of us that have had an account don’t even get a discount on the games.

  • @Apollo4x Plus members get 20% off Jurassic Park. It says so right up there in the post.

“Exclusive Discounts: Jurassic Park: The Game – Full Series (Episodes 1-4) – 20% off”

People complaining about the Jurassic Park deal need to relax. It was pretty clearly stated what the deal was, and clarified multiple times. Existing members have been getting exclusive free games and deals the whole time they’ve been part of Plus. At least Sony offered the ability to get the deal by extending your subscription, so it wasn’t just for new members. This is how incentive programs work in every industry. It’s totally normal and fair, so there’s no need to act surprised or angry (especially if you don’t read before complaining).

  • @231. You actually get 20% off if you are a PS+ member who didn’t sign up for another year during the 1 week window…but I agree with you. It’s complete BS to do something like this. My account is up in mid December and will automatically renew itself at that point for another year…why should I have to renew it the 1st week of November in order to get Jurassic Park? I am already a very loyal PS+ subscriber…why pick on me for that?

  • @233 You do realize that PS+ IS an incentive program itself, right? Subscribe to PS+ because it will give you free stuff? To offer an incentive (free Jurassic Park) to buy an membership that itself is an incentive is just strange. It’s not needed at all. All Sony needed to do was tell people that in November they were going to be giving Jurassic Park to all PS+ members for free…that would give all the incentive anyone needed who wanted to play Jurassic Park AND try out PS+ AND it wouldn’t change how PS+ behaves for existing members.

    Yes, PS+ has been wonderful…
Yes, I have benifited from my membership in PS+…
    Yes, I am relaxed…
Yes, it turns out SONY did spell out what that only people who signed up/renewed their 12 month subscription would get Jurassic Park for free…
Yes, SONY can do whatever they want with their service…

But it isn’t ridiculous for me to be upset/disappointed that Sony has chosen to be picky about which PS+ members get the latest PS+ benefit. What about people who bought a 12 month subscription in October? You think they want to have to pay for another 12 month subscription 30 days later just to get the free game their PS+ subscription should get them anyway?

  • Cool, but one question. Will the full game category be a weekly update or just a once in awhile thing?

  • I spoke with customer service about the RDR bundle issue and they were very rude and unhelpful, The customer rep insisted that I did not buy the bundle that came with the DLC. James the rep told me that the bundle was just Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare no DLC and that if I wanted the DLC I would have to pay extra for it. I asked for a refund and was told that this is what I purchased and that there was no mistake on the PSN store, I tried to argue that the bundle that is now listed on the store is not the bundle I originally purchased James would not back down from his statement that the bundle I bought was just the Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption: Undead Nightmare no DLC. I told James of the Playstation blog showing that is came with the all the DLC and of Morgan Haro also saying that it did and other usersare effected by this issue and he said he knew of no other issues and this was news to him and it sounded like he did not believe me. James would not issue me a refund and I told him that this will be the last PSN purchase I ever make and hung up.

  • Like everyone else who purchased The Red Dead Redemption + Undead Nightmare collection bundle I too only got Red Dead Redemption (full game) and Undead Nightmare (full game). Undead Nightmare should have been dlc and have come with the other dlc. I have since paused both downloads until a statement has been issued and this problem has been resolved.

My suggestion would be to give the people who purchased it the Undead Nightmare Collection free, like it should have been from the start. I will be calling customer service tomorrow.

  • @skipcher

So does that mean that you were going to pay for the extension of my account? Does that mean I should be forced to and buy and extention when my account has plenty of time left on it? Yes I have been enjoying what all I get by subscribing to Plus, but you make it sound like that was all unfair. Keep in mind you could of joined the service long before now, or others could of joined earlier as well but they didn’t. So Sony decided that they would offer every one that wasn’t a member or needed to extend their account some incentive to finally cough up the cash. Don’t think Sony did this to “even things out” as you make it sound like, they did it solely to get your cash in thier pockets the best way they new how offer a free cookie drag you into the trap and then give you to cookie. Even that small discount is just a way to try to smooth feathers and try to quite people that hated being cut out due to money or not needed to extend their membership. So yea it was for the new members that they hooked.

  • @Dupa07

I am sorry to hear that customer service was so rude to you. I am now thinking about calling tomorrow just so that they can here from more people and know they can’t just pretend this whole thing never happened.

  • I would ask to bring The Metal Gear Solid Game Collection to buy.

I bought all the avatars. Like to see some wallpaper or exclusive backgrounds.

I got all the free stuff and never miss out on updates.

Good job Sony! Once again your store is great.

BURGER TIME from NES. I so got it. I still got my original NES and Burger Time game.

  • I sure hope a fix happens soon, because if the PSN store is out of commission for most of Nov 17th due to maintenance and considering download and install times, People may miss Rockstar Games’ Nov 18th Multilayer Event.

  • @Morgan Haro — however, this problem was mentioned multiple times on comment-page-3, so why are you saying you weren’t aware of the issue because you didn’t read page 4 on?

  • @Morgan Haro — Scratch that last question I asked of you. Its neither here nor there at the moment, I think.

    • Page 3, page 4. pages. The bottomline is, I didn’t see this until Thurs. =)

However, were able to identify the issue and those who purchased it will be receiving a message to their PS3 inbox with a link to download this content. This message will be sent out tonight at 10pm PST, but it may take some time to reach everyone’s inbox.

Thank you to everyone who brought this up, and apologies for the inconvenience.

  • Really hope Capcom comes to their senses and develop Onimusha 1,2,3 IN hd.

And Sony, where’s my Syphon Filter at?

  • I just received a message from PSN with download links to everything I needed with the RDR bundle! Thanks for getting on top of this!

Now I just have to call CS tomorrow about cancelling the refund request. When, at first, I was simply being pointed to the publisher, who was then saying it was an issue with the store, it seemed like less stress to go that route.

    Anyway, thanks again!

  • hey Morgan Haro i have a idea for some ps2 classics how about the first 4 dot hack games i really love to see them up on psn thx

  • @Morgan Haro Yep, bottom line is why I thought it was moot. The issue did become known and has been dealt with. Thank you kindly.

I did receive the PS3 mail with the attached download voucher and have installed it and am happy with my purchase that I ended up buy the 3 other add-on (the 99 cent ones) and have installed the free add-on as well to make the game complete as it can.

However, now I’m confused what to do with the 9GB RDR:UN standalone game. Can I delete this off my console without it affecting the main game and the newly acquired add-ons? Either way, the RDR:UN Collection of add-ons only had a foot print of 1.4GB And if I can get rid of the 9GB footprint while still having the full RDR experience I’d be happy.

  • I deleted the 9GB RDR:UN Standalone game, and all is okay, except now my purchases are affected by the 2 System limit instead of being 5 Systems before the change occurred. Is there any plans to fix this?

  • Morgan I need help!!! When i had the hard copy of RDR all of the add ons worked! I just bought the digital copy and it doesnt recognize any DLC. I re-downloaded all of them from the PS store itself and then again from the in-game store…. Nothing.. Help me with the greatest game of all time PLEASE!
