Jak and Daxter Collection Coming to PS3 with HD, 3D, Trophies

+ Posted by Evan Wells

Greetings all, hopefully you’ve been getting to spend some quality time with UNCHARTED 3: Drake’s Deception these past few weeks. We are grateful for all the positive fan feedback and thank you for the support! I’m not here today to talk about U3, though. We’ve been getting many, many requests asking about Jak and Daxter coming to PS3, and I’m happy to announce that the series will make its PS3 debut this February with the launch of the Jak and Daxter Collection.

The Jak and Daxter Collection features three of our favorite Jak and Daxter titles – Jak and Daxter: The Precursor Legacy, Jak II, and Jak 3 – all remastered by Mass Media, working closely with our team at Naughty Dog. With the launch of Jak and Daxter Collection, you’ll be able to experience the adventures of Jak and his Daxter in 720p high definition with crisper visuals, smoother gameplay animation, and in full stereoscopic 3D. And, I’m sure all of you hardcore collectors will be happy to hear that each game in the trilogy features full PS3 trophy support.

White Knight Chronicles II: Online Guilds Coming This Week

+ Posted by Miki Takahashi

Hi PlayStation.Blog readers! We wanted to share first details on the Guild Update (game version 1.01) for White Knight Chronicles II. The update will radically enhance your online play options and provide more than 100 pieces of new downloadable content along with some other new features; read on for an in-depth dissection.

Guild System

One of the most exciting features is the new Guild System. By purchasing the commerce item “Guild License” at the PlayStation Store, you’ll be able to create your own Guild — a collective of GeoNet communities built by players that enables them to interact with each other online as they play. Create a Guild and you will have your own personal Guild page, which will allow you to participate in online Guild rankings, access the Guild’s exclusive HomeTown, and more. Once you create your Guild, you can pick your favorite character as a concierge (Guide) by purchasing a Concierge ticket item. Your concierge is a sort of Guild mascot that helps run day-to-day operations by managing your guild’s HomeTown, its guild tokens and GeoStones, and providind information about designated quests.

As you hibernate next to your towering stack of games this week, make sure to finish off with a delicious slice of pumpkin-pie topped off with the wispy cream delight of this week’s new releases this Thanksgiving.

Returning to the spotlight, WWE ‘12, Tekken Hybrid and The King of Fighters XIII headline this week’s title bout, each franchise known to bring countless hours of combos, take-downs and finishers in their individual brawling arenas. Speaking of epic franchises, Final Fantasy returns to PSone classics and Ratchet and Clank (including Dr Nefarious and Qwark) arrive on PSN as a full digital download in Ratchet and Clank: All 4 One.

Gobble gobble, The Drop.

PlayStation Around The Web: What We Read

recap

Quick question for you readers out there – do you use Google+?

Like a lot of companies, we set up an official PlayStation presence there once that became possible last week. The question we’re facing right now is – for those of you on G+, what do you want to see there? Right now, G+ seems like a stripped down Facebook – not unlike when Facebook first started. One of the big differences is Hangouts, a sort of livestreaming app that’s native to Google+, so we’re sort of looking in that direction. Of course, all that matters is what you all want to see – let us know in the comments, please.

The PlayStation Recap: For the Sake of Skyrim Edition

+ Posted by Sid Shuman

recap

This week, I chased lightning bugs, picked flowers, flicked fire from my fingertips, and crafted a sweet leather helmet. Like many of you, Jeff, Rey and I spent (too) much of our week wrapped in the warm, numbing embrace of The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. If you’re playing Skyrim, let’s trade some war stories in the comments! If you need help or support for the game, head here.

Otherwise, this week saw the release of three new PlayStation Move games — Medieval Moves: Deadmund’s Quest (from the creators of Move classic Sports Champions), Carnival Island (from team members Boom Blox and Guitar Hero), and Eyepet & Friends (from the creators of…Eyepet). We also got a final peek at Assassin’s Creed: Revelation’s Sentinel character, news of a Harry Potter-themed PS3 bundle that includes 3D Blu-rays and movie downloads for several Harry Potter titles, and a launch trailer for PSN retro revival BurgerTime: World Tour.

Lastly, this week also marked the five-year anniversary of PS3 in the United States, so we asked 21 leading game designers to name their three favorite PS3 games. Read the full list, then share your three favorites in the comments. Be sure to tell us why!
