Hi Everyone –
It’s a week of amazing DLC with the release of Add-ons for Battlefield 3 and Resistance 3 hitting PlayStation Network in a big way.

Battlefield 3 multiplayer expands with Back to Karkand, available first and exclusively on PSN. Featuring four of the most loved Battlefield maps ever reimagined with the power of the Frostbite 2 engine, this DLC gives you new weapons, vehicles, dog tags, and persistence in the form of all-new “assignments” to carry out on the battlefield.

I’ve been closely following this blog and the weekly updates hoping to see Persona 4 added as a classic. Would that even be possible? Or should I give up hope?

Other than that, good update. Can’t wait to try the 007 demo.

Glad to see the Iori w/ flames is a 6kb download. Thanks for charging me $5 bucks for something already in the game. That’s what I get for being a fan of Atlus/SNK.

Come on….still no Duels of the Planeswalkers 2012 deck pack? The next set are due out next week and we still don’t have the originals….

Also, any chance we’ll ever see downloadable Frequency or Amplitude?

@supersaiyan500,

Correction is it not winter yet in the northern hemisphere. The winter solstice, or the official first day of winter does not occur until December 22nd. Winter always starts near Christmas.

Ok since you refuse to communicate and even let us know why you took away the psp support I refuse to buy anymore off the psn… This from a customer who has over fifty digital psp twenty psone and nearly forty ps3 psn games.

Im angry and tired of features I use being taken away without any explanation or warning and your lack of response just goes to show you dont care about your customers anymore.

Features lost this year

Other OS
Psp Ps3 support
Psp comics
Ps2 backwards compatability (lost before this year)

Wrote in to “Support” about the loss of PSP support on the PS3 with the 4.0 firmware. Even said not to give me the usual default answer and not to say this is the first you’ve heard of it.

You guessed it…… I got the default answer on how to transfer a game from the PS3 to the PSP when I just got done explaining to them that it no longer works.

I’m thinking we’re once again not going to get any resolution to the problem they’re made. (with their zero response thing they have going)

Nice update and all, but I’m still waiting for the Duels of the Planeswalker expansion. All other platforms have had it for three weeks. Hell, the next one comes out next week and we still don’t have the first. I contacted Wizards about it and they just said it’s a complicated issue and out of their control.

I keep checking every week, and no dice. Still waiting!

Responded back to the email and got a quick response. She said to use MediaGo for now and said she forwarded on the information to the appropriate department.

For people that have/use the PSP with the PS3, email your complaints in. Nothing is passed on or read in these comments by the looks of things.

2 games for only 3 bucks as a bundle, I was happy with this update :D Also the Spyro games were a nice touch I loved Spyro when I was younger so it was nice to see them.

Does anyone else have to delete the games manually after you installed them…they just stay there in the game section.

I’m looking forward to the Resistance 3 DLC. That sounds amazing and I’m sure it’s going to strengthen the Resistance community, because it’s pretty much the only exclusive wave-galore survival horror game we have.

I’m now transferring games back to my PSP. With no help from support! After trying MediaGo and getting errors in middle of installations too, I had to end up reformatting my system memory and memory stick. 30gbs of games gone! Then upon plugging it into Windows7 machine to use MediaGo, it came up with a windows “scan needed” error(so I let those go through). So now I’m downloading the 40gb’s of PSP games off PSN to MediaGo and installing them to my PSP. After the reformatting stuff, the PS3 should install the PSP games once again. But they won’t reside like they used to, in a folder, for one….. and then I’m not taking the chance of it corrupting my PSP memory again.

A good 2 days lost due to 4.0 firmware.

Now the PSP is just a red headed step child to the PS3….. it’s not part of the family anymore.

Yes, I ran into having to delete the install bubble manually after installation also.

Another bug from 4.0

Wow, sale on Neptunia stuffs. I bought about 70 of the 90 or so items for it, but with those discounts, maybe I’ll finally pick up the rest just for the heck of it. Very nice.

125

+ AizawaYuuichi on December 7th, 2011 at 12:48 am said:

@ EveofLight and Olimage: It’s not a bug. You can’t copy installed items on the PS3 onto the PSP anymore. So if you want to move it to the PSP, you have to copy the installer over. Since they removed the “copy installed software” functionality, they also removed the auto-deletion of the installer, so you don’t have to download new content twice if you’re installing it on both systems. Simple. Sucks, but simple.

126

+ Olimage on December 7th, 2011 at 1:07 am said:

It’s a step backwards. And being that it corrupted the memory on my PSP trying to use install games after the 4.0 “update”…. I’m still saying it’s buggy

+ phatmillips on December 7th, 2011 at 1:42 am said:

The reason for the install bubbles remaining after you download and install PSP and Mini games is because currently the Playstation does not support copying already installed games from your PS3 to your PSP. When you install the game currently it installs it to your PS3 and then leaves a ghost copy that can be copied to you your PSP.

Whether this is a bug or feature, let alone doubles your install size for having 2 copys of the same game is unknown. I guess someone can easily test out the later issue. As for the former, it’s probably an unintentional feature unfortunately.

I personally just delete the bubbles as I honestly cant fathom playing PS1 games on my PSP and the minis are small enough to download directly from the PSP itself.

Regarding #OnlyOnPSN event for buying Renegade Ops ahead of time, where we were promised a, to be available later, Vehicle and Weapon DLC pack:

I just received a PSN message telling me that it will be available on Dec 13, 2011. Along with this message came an attachment Theme, thanking me for my patience.

Thank you.

Side note: This episode of Qore, very well done!

I grabbed the Penny Arcade bundle. $3, why not? Also got the DA2 Full Trial. Def need to try before I buy since it got a lot of mixed reviews. I might however, since I already bought DA Ultimate Edition, wait for similar for DA2, since the add-ons for DA2 are pricey.

Obscure hope: There’s an anime out called High School of the Dead; and since Zombies are rampant lately in the gaming world, I’d like to see either Naughty Dog (Uncharted Style) or RockStar Games have a go at this title. I’d be a pre day 1 purchaser for certain!

SONY, your software update version 4.0 has made several things on the PS3 worse instead of better:
1. When I downloaded several games from Plus and the new Qore episode, then told the PS3 to turn off after downloading, it only installed the Qore episode but not the games. Previously everything would install before shutting off.
2. When I turned the system on today, I had to install each game separately, and the install bubbles did not go away. I then had to delete each install bubble separately.
These aren’t major issues, but they are moderate annoyances that weren’t there before and its frustrating to be going backwards in useability instead of forwards. Thanks.
P.S. The pop-ups on the blog here are a major annoyance, please take them off.

I also found it quite annoying (sort of like the new epilepsy warning every time the ps3 starts now)
