As you all know, PlayStation Vita launched in Japan this past weekend, and we’ve been excited to hear which games have been the most popular with our friends across the Pacific. But I’m sure all of you have been wanting to find out which titles will be released when PS Vita launches in the U.S./Canada on Feb. 22. Today we announced the official PS Vita software launch lineup for the U.S. and Canada, and you’ll be pleased to know that PS Vita will have the biggest and best lineup we’ve ever launched across the history of PlayStation platforms.

SCE Worldwide Studios, along with our publishing partners, have been working extremely hard to build games that provide you all with new ways to experience gaming on the go. There will be 25 games available on day 1, and in total more than 100 games currently in development. Pricing for all software will range from $9.99-$49.99 (MSRP) and will be available for purchase at retail locations as well as downloadable on the PlayStation Network.

Also, every PS Vita system will be packed with six AR Play Cards and one voucher to download a handful of augmented reality mini games called AR Play via the PlayStation Network. All first party games along with a selection of accessories and third party games will be available for purchase a week early (Feb. 15) in conjunction with the availability date of the First Edition PS Vita Bundle.

For those of you looking for a complete solution, a Starter Kit will be available for $39.99 (MSRP), which includes a 4GB Memory Card, Pocket Pouch, Protective Film, Card Case, Headphones, and Cleaning Cloth. Standalone Memory Cards will start at $19.99 (MSRP), providing plenty of options for storing games and save data, videos, music, photos and more.

    Looks fantastic! The only real question I have is, what exactly does Launch Window mean? I’m really looking forward to Gravity Rush the most out of everything here, but it just doesn’t really have a solid definition. First month or so? Just wondering, thanks!

    I haven’t seen anyone mention whether the system comes with a 2-4GB memory stick in it already, what was the decision behind making the users pay to actually hold stuff on a device they’re already paying a lot of money for?

    The launch lineup is incredible probably the best of any recent system launches! My only complaint is the price of expanded memory is ridiculous… seriously $100 for a measly 32gb card is absurd!!!???

    Will the games be cheaper to download on PSN vs. buying the physical game cards? I heard that games like Uncharted: Golden Abyss would be cheaper to download than to buy on cards.

    Probably not a day-one buy for me, perhaps a 6th month buy lol. Still wish to see how things will roll before spending such big money onto a handheld. I won’t be an early adopter ever again after the problems with my first Playstation 3.

    A little concerned about the pricing on memories and games, too. I’m excited about the platform, it’s potential and the games to come though. Do a good job, Sony.

    Definitely looking forward to Stardust, Uncharted, and Touch my Katamari! Also, pleased to see the prices on the memory sticks, they are looking pretty good! Probably get the Vita, three games above, 16 gig stick to start with, maybe the case too.

    I’m not buying. The price of Sony’s proprietary memory is price gouging. $60 for 16GB seriously? $300 for the system and memory card and still haven’t bought a game.

    Thanks for all the great information! Two questions:

    First, how long is the launch window?

    Second, at least a few of the third party publishers and developers here had launch releases on the 3DS that did not meet gamers’ expectations from a software and features standpoint. Will we be able to get more in-depth looks at the third party Vita games before they are released?

    Great news since now I can start thinking about what accessories to buy with my PS Vita, but the First Edition Bundle is starting to look like less of a great deal. Seeing how the Starter kit comes with a solution to all your accessories needs why did you guys decide not to include it with the First Edition bundle and if I were to get it then I would have two 4GB memory cards.

    I am so excited for this product to come out. I am also pleasantly surprised by the cost of the memory sticks. If you don’t have a lot of disposable income then spend the $20.00 for 4 GB and put a couple of games on the Vita instead of 20.

    Yes the memory cards cost more, but I am sure that there was some R&D that went into them to limit piracy (which was a huge issue with the PSP). I am glad that they made the Vita more secure and are able to put out trophies.

    Yes, things cost money, Sony isn’t a non-profit company. The market will let them know if it is too much.

    I got just about 500 saved just for 2/15/2012…cant wait to play Lil Deviants, Uncharted :GA and Revenge of Zen..its bin awhile i play a ninja game. Also i was going to ask ..will we be able to play PS3 PSN GAMES as well?..like Rocket Birds and Pac Man or Joe Danger or NBA JAM ON FIRE EDITION! IF so that would be AMAZING! if not well then i can always keep my fingers crossed until there is an UPDATE for this to be possible :p

    to all of the people complaining about the memory cards and comparing them to sd cards, they’re smaller then sd cards.. they’re alot closer in size to the Micro-SD cards, and seeing how i just spent $40 on a 16 gb MicroSD card not too long ago, i think they’re price for a new proprietary card is pretty good. Go to walmart.com and search 32 gb MicroSD Class 10
    $101.
    So i truly don’t see how $99 for a 32 gb card to store all of your games, music, and movies on is such a big deal.
    Especially since the majority of the people that are complaining, will be filling their cards up with pirated music and movies anyway.
    If you all didn’t participate in that form of theft, then proprietary memory cards wouldn’t have been necessary.

    launch window titles im getting Unit 13 and Gravity Rush .

    i will wait for a good deal on a 32 gb memory card and why arent Motorstorm RC , Ruin , Resistance Burning Skies and Litlte Big Planet part of the launch window titles? when are we gonna see more about Killzone ?

    Can u release a Q and A blog or a FAQ blog with such questions such as:
    -How to easily transfer PSN games, save data, etc, from PSP systems to PS Vita
    -What PSP games will be like played on PS Vita and if any are upgraded to Vita such as upscaled graphics.
    -If PS1 classics will make use of right analog stick like they did on PS1 and PS2 systems.
    -If PS2 classics will be playable on Vita at some point in the future.

    ONE THING I DEFINITELY LOOK FORWARD TO IS PLAYING THE 3RD BIRTHDAY ON VITA SINCE IT FEELS SO CRAMPED PLAYING ON PSP GO.

    Also some stores are selling some vita games for $30 rather than $40 on such games such as Modnation Racers: Road Trip, will this be the same or cheaper on PSN?
