PlayStation Store Update

Hi Everyone –
We say goodbye to 2011 with one last PlayStation Store update; just in time for those looking to warm the winter nights with some great content from PlayStation Network.

New PSN Games this week include All Zombies Must Die. This twin-stick shooter is taken to lofty new heights with a bevy of RPG features, four player co-op and optional PlayStation Move support. You’ll also want to check out Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD. This remake of the influential original puts you in the shoes of the High Plains Drifter with an all new coat of paint that you won’t want to miss.

The Splinter Cell HD Collection released earlier this year, but it’s now broken up into individual games. Want to pick up only one title in the trilogy? Now you can. The original Trilogy bundle is of course, still available, and may stand as the better deal should you wish to purchase all three.

Two great new additions in the PS3 Full Game category are also arriving this week. For an amazing gaming experience for all ages, you can now download Carnival Island, playable with PlayStation Move. Packed with a ton of great games and activities, you’ll be amazed how it uses the Move controller to create an entirely new sense of immersion. Motorstorm Apocalypse arrives as well, where you’ll race in an almost completely abandoned city that offers the perfect playground for MotorStorm’s electric brand of brutal street racing.

That’s it for the year! From everyone at PlayStation, thank you for a wonderful 2011, and we look forward to sharing more amazing experiences only available on PlayStation Network in 2012!

  • Why hasn’t the pricing for Crash team racing been lowered? It’s in the 50% off section but is still at $5.99, it’s regular psn price.

  • Happy Holidays PSN staff, I hope you had a good Christmas and wish you all a happy new year. Thanks for coming in and giving one more update before the year rolls over! Klonoa is VERY tempting even though I have the Wii version…I may, just may, pick this up too, especially at $5.99!

Looking forward to next years releases:

    Journey
    Arkedo 1-2-3 “minis”
    Closure
    Rock of Ages

    and of course…The Last Guardian!!

One question. Since Splinter Cell trilogy has been broken up. Do you think the Metal Gear Solid HD collection will be broken up and available for download sometime soon?

Have a great week and a great new year!

  • Yeah…. this update was pretty terrible. I’m usually not one to complain about these, but this one was just pathetic. Could have at least thrown a PS2 game & a price drop or two in there. Oh well I guess.

  • ODDWORLD STRANGERS WRATH HD!!! *fangirl scream*

  • Oh ok I now get that it’s a Retail Bluray game, sorry bout that..

  • Worst update forever since ps3 launch. Wow patch 4.0 sux this update sux what else ?

  • 15 dollar for every splinter cell title? you’re kidding arent you? they are available for 21 euro in the german store! thats’s 27.50 dollar!

  • No trial for Splinter Cell games??? I was hoping to play the trials; before buying them. I dont know if they are what I expect or not.

Please make the trials available at the store :D

  • Probably the smallest update in a long time and it’s right after Christmas! WTF?

And Motorstorm: Apocalypse for $60? Come on Sony.

  • I just have to shake my head at the comments. They are obviously from teenagers, as anyone older would have appreciated Stranger’s Wrath and Klonoa being released on the PSN. This is, by far, not the worst update. There have been much, much worse. This is actually quite good considering it is the week between Christmas and New Years. I mean geez…

  • Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas belongs in the PS2 Classics section! Immediately!!!!

  • Update is nothing of interest this month besides the Splinter Cell Trilogy, on a side note where can I deactivate all of my broken PS3’s online?

  • yes San Andreas please Sony that would be a instant buy

@108 go to qriocity.com to deactivate systems

  • Megamixer reviews are the only consistant exciting thing about PS Updates IMO. What the hell Sony what the hell. Release Legend of Dragoon already!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Best update of the year.

  • I’d just like to thank you guys for putting Klonoa.
    I’ve waited ages for it.
    merry new year, everyone

  • I was really hoping to see some Boxing Day/Week sales (week of the 26th) :( It would have been nice to see some sales for all those who just bought a PS3 on sale for $199, hopefully next week there will be a massive and spectacular update and sales to kick of the new year!

  • WE WANT IN THE PSN STORE THE NEXT: BATTLEFIELD 3, DEAD ISLAND, CRYSIS 2, LITTLEBIG PLANET 2 .. WHY THEY JUST ARE ENABLED IN THE EUROPE STORE?

  • I wasn’t even expecting an update today, and now I find out the Oddworld game is released. I guess this copy of Skyrim I got for Christmas is going to have to wait a little longer before being cracked open.

  • I will be downloading them PlayStation Home Platinum’D Episodes. Thx! :D

  • damn $60 for motorstorm N $15 for the splinter cells yikes!! i got motorstorm new for $30 bucks. some1 had to much egg nog!!!

  • boring store update

  • this is a joke right? the update cannot be sooo poor

  • where is the motorstorm arctic edge rally car dlc the uk psn store got weeks ago?

  • Pretty weak final update of the year, but meh whatever, Steam sales more than make up for the weak PS update.

  • You will get bonus points for bringing us Klonoa 2.
    Happy new year, guys!

  • Any word on when the Tester season 3 will be debuting? Can’t wait for this season!

  • yay Liverpool Dynamic Theme.. :D

  • Wish they would give some free games for playstation plus. Kinda waste of money.

  • @114 The reason why Battlefield 3, Crysis 2, another generic zombie game, and LittleBigPlanet 2 are on the European store and not the North American one is that they are European games (DICE is Swedish, Crytek German, MediaMolecule from the UK, and Techland Polish). We get the games developed here in North America which, I’m guessing, they don’t. Plain and simple.

  • dear to people who keeps complaining about the small update

    1. its 2 days after christmas

    2. if you dont like it, do something instead of whining behind a computer

    3. at least they are still updating

so be thankful that you are getting something

  • OMG KLONOA YESYESYESYES!!! Thank you so much I’ve been waiting on it FOREVER!! Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!

  • No special price for boxing day here for Canadian customer ? (boxing day= Black Friday for us)
. It’s a awful price for MotorStorm Apocalypse and Splinter Cell x2 the price for digital vs retail and it’ a proof that digital content will never work: TOO Fu*k*ng EXPENSIVE

  • @125 PS Plus members received the Tomb Raider game and Marvel Pinball for free this month (plus some minis and a PSone game that I don’t pay attention to). This is more than usual. The free games are usually at the start of the month.

@90% of the people posting, this really isn’t a bad update considering so many people are out for Christmas; usually they don’t even do a store post this week. The fact that we got 2 promising PSN games and a PSOne classic that a lot of people seem to like, make this a decent update.

Not sure what some people expect each week. I am happy if there are a couple new demos and a PSN game. You won’t like everything every week. This week I bought All Zombies Must Die and I am trying the Carnival Island 1 hour trial (but I am waiting until the price comes down to buy).

  • Are we going to see some NBA avatars somewhere in the near future?

  • one of the best ps1 games come out and you all complain?

  • Honestly i have to agree with most people on here. this wasnt really a good update, if anything they should have just skipped this week if this is how bad it was going to be. Especially considering the fact that this is the last update till the new year people would probably assume it would have been something big. i sure did, and yet again Sony has displeased me as with most of the updates this past year.

Nothing for the psp yet again, but like i say time and time again Sony actually support their own system would be a good thing, which judging by Sony continuous negection for the psp doesnt really say much for them.

I doubt next year will be full of games i’ll enjoy. i just hope if/when i buy a Vita next year they support the heck out of it, but judging by the lack of support for the psp i doubt theyll change.

See you next year in hope that Sony actually listens to their fans, and give us what we want so we in turn and give you are money. hopefully we can see ps1 classic like Legends of Dragoons (a game people have been asking for god knows how long) and psp classic like Crisis Core.

  • Motorstorm full game trial: noice!
Motorstorm for 59.99: not so noice!

  • Wow.. what a really lame update for this week. At least I got some purchases done last week to kinda make up for this week. Maybe next year will start with a bang?

  • So the update ist great, dodnt y’all jus get a bunch of stuff not two days ago. pfft relax, i jus wish the ps plus was a bit more boosted with freebies. but meh i got new games to play.

A Multiplayer patch for Just Cause2 Would be AWESOME!!!! Do it. Fact!

  • after i beat Dead Space 2…Getting Splinter Cell, waiting so long for them to be individual…Oddworld: Strangers Wrath HD that game looks sick!!!

  • The sauce is weak.

  • For those of us that are old enough to remember (teenagers=whiners don’t count)….Klonoa and Oddworld Strangers Wrath are definitely welcomed additions to the PSN library. I already bought both. And on a side note, AZMD looks and plays like Zombies Ate My Neighbors….!! Remember that 1….??!!

    GREAT UPDATE….!! Especially between holidays (a first)….!!

  • OMG! KLONOA! I knew I should of bought a PSN card at the store today! D=

  • I really do wonder why your full games cost full retail price when I can get the same games like Motorstorm for like $16 -__- You guys better fix that in the future.

  • Small update, hoping that 2012 will come with MORE PS2 Classics!

  • Merry Christmas?

  • Can’t wait to get home and download Stranger’s Wrath. Been wanting to play that game for, what, 6 years now?

  • I love how the downloadable version of Motorstorm Apocalypse is $59.99 and I just paid $4.99 for a brand new retail copy at Best Buy a few days ago.
