The PlayStation Recap: Home Sweet Home Edition

Sid Shuman's Avatar + Posted by Sid Shuman on Jan 21, 2012 // Senior Manager, Social Media

This week, Jeff, Rey and I dispersed across the US to host a series of grand opening community events for our Vita Hill social clubs. I took on New York City and Boston, Jeff took Chicago, and Rey took Miami and Atlanta. The response was phenomenal: In NYC alone, more than 300 community members lined up to play PS Vita on Tuesday night; in Boston, more than 200 members braved icy winds for Wednesday’s showcase. As always, it was a treat to meet the PlayStation community (the best in the business, if you ask me) and quiz them on their favorite games. Thanks for coming out, guys!

Don’t forget: Vita Hill social clubs in eight US cities are open seven days a week through PS Vita’s launch on February 22nd (get details and info here). They’re open to the public and there’s no catch — come by and play PS Vita as many times as you want!

In other news this week, the team behind UNCHARTED: Golden Abyss showed off new motion-capture footage, Square Enix showed off its upcoming PSN release Scarygirl, our EU correspondent James Gallagher scored an outstanding interview with PS Vita designer Tokashi Sogabe, Jeff spoke with SCE President and CEO Andrew House concerning PS Vita, and The Tester teased first footage of Season 3 (Nolan North!).

What are you playing this weekend?

Thank you for finally fixing the download history bug on the Playstation Store.

Redownloading my entire Purchase history was a nightmare with the download history appearing in a different order every time I accessed it and it shuffling every time I scrolled.

We’ll have more details on the MK stuff (it’s not there yet) as well as new content coming into Vita Hill. But yeah, there are quite a few opps to get in there to play — go back as many times as you like!

P.S. Could you place an event at the Westfield Valley Fair Mall in California?

Hi, Sid, you drew the longest straw. NYC & Boston must have been great, albeit rather cold in January.

I’m still just playing Skyrim, but I’m oh, so close to the end of the primary quests.

Thanks a lot for coming to Atlanta. I’ve been waiting for you guys to come to Atlanta for the longest time but I finally got a chance lol. I really liked the vita and this improved my want for it even more. I’ve actually gone there twice in counting now and I might even go back twice a week or more now as far as I finish my school work in time.

Thanks again and I hope you guys come back to Atlanta again in the future.

    Sid – can u clear up a little confusion…

Is the starter pack for the vita going to have a car charger? Gamestop says no and sonystyle.com says yes.

    Motorstorm rc? Delayed?

Is there going to be dual memory card slots on the vita so u can play a game on one and save on the other?

Do u see many cross platform games coming out this year?

Can we expect to see any cross platform games that will play off each other like socom 3 and FTB 1 did? That is what got me into handheld gaming in the first place.

Will we ever see aps blog app like the UK has?

And finally….where in the world is Kevin Butler? :)

    Thanks and rock on!!!!!

Breaking Bad is awesome. We are craving for season 4 to hit netflix soon. Love it!!!
