Special Launch Day PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi Bundle Announced

With only 27 days until the launch of PlayStation Vita, we are excited to announce two PS Vita 3G/WiFi bundles. If you were one of the lucky consumers to pre order the PS Vita First Edition Bundle, in addition to the PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi hardware, a limited edition case, a 4GB PS Vita Memory Card and Little Deviants game, we will now be including an AT&T DataConnect Pass good for one free 250MB data session (a $14.99 value) upon purchase of one 250 MB data session, and a PlayStation Network game – both provided upon 3G activation on the AT&T mobile broadband network. And the best part, you still get it a week before the official launch date.

Vita First Edition Bundle

We are happy to announce today that we will be creating an extremely limited edition PlayStation Vita 3G/Wi-Fi bundle designed to reward those who brave the cold to stand in line on February 22nd (or even those who come in the few days that follow). In addition to the PS Vita hardware, we will be including an 8GB PS Vita Memory Card, an AT&T DataConnect Pass and a PlayStation Network game all for the usual MSRP of $299. This SKU is part of a promotional offer and will sell out immediately so we strongly recommend that you purchase your PS Vita early to make sure you get the extra value!

While the system is a fantastic option, the addition of 3G-network access is perfect for the gamer that wants convenience, community and connection – basically the ability to immediately socialize with your gaming community. Using the AT&T mobile broadband network also allows you to engage in multi-player gaming, utilize GPS location-based digital gifting, stay up to date with continuous LiveArea scores and game ranking news feeds, compete for in-game achievements, engage in PS Vita to PS3 cross-platform game play, cross-game message with Party, and have access to software updates, all while on the go. You’ll also be able to login to the PS Store and download new content and add-ons for some of your favorite titles.

There are lots of exciting updates still to come as we get closer to launch, and we will be sure to keep you posted. Our goal here at PlayStation is to transform every aspect of life into an entertainment experience. We know when you get your hands on Vita you may really never stop playing!

  • wow pretty good bundle indeed !!! sony please add online Head to Head multiplayer to ModNation Racers , release a Little Big Planet online multiplayer demo , a Resistance Burning Skies beta , Killzone beta , Call of Duty beta , you know things like that would put the ps vita to be ” THE ” connected ONLINE handheld to “OWN” , it has full psn integration so why not take advantage of that? please add Head to Head / cross platform play to Motorstorm RC too .

btw to New york city residents , the playstation lounge at the sony plaza will have the ps vita with lots of demos in 4 days ( Next monday )

  • The first edition bundle people deserve more, they were the ones that believed in this product. These are the ones that will be walking around a full week before release, either singing your praises or telling everyone how Sony screwed them over.

  • First Edition Bundle will only get the 4GB memory card while the bundle on Feb. 22nd is getting the 8GB memory card. I was planning to get the first edition bundle because of getting it a week early but I’m not so sure now. I feel cheated here…

  • Some people can’t read >_<

  • @dragonchasers….

the math is good except that the first edition bundle costs 50$ more at 349.00 and this one is 299.00 and u get an 8gb instead of 4gb.

to clarify to everybody u r basically paying 50$ extra to get it a week early, a smaller memory card and little deviants

  • Sounds like AT&T is trying to get Sony to push the 3G models since they have gotten flack over raising the limit from 2 to 3 gigs and charging $30 per month. They are only giving 250 mb which is fine because it shows me if I really want to use the 3G which I probably wont now but will want it for vacation. I’m cool with getting another free game included, just wonder what I can select. It would have been better if they bumped the first edition bundles from 4 gig to 8 gig, I’d rather have that then a free PSN game.

  • Don’t forget the extra cost to buy a bigger memory card since the first edition memory card is weak.

  • Sony, you are basically slapping your most loyal customers in the face by not including the 8GB memory card in the First Edition Bundle! The First Edition Bundle should offer the most value and now it doesn’t. Please reconsider this and upgrade the memory card to 8GB as well.

  • And the all the perks for 1st edition are part of the paid “BUNDLE” price. Not free just because.

  • @killersense And you get the case… that’s a ~ $20 value, based on the cases listed on Amazon. So there’s your $50 price difference, and you get it a week early.

Meh, maybe I’m just more excited… to me having it a week early is worth a lot! LOL.

  • Why not include a Memory Card in the WiFi version?

Most of the games REQUIRE one. I think is a really BAD DECISION not to include them, especially when some games WON’T EVEN START if you don’t have it. For me is like selling a TV without the power cord. Just doesn’t make sense.

I really hope someone replies to my comment. A memory card should be included in all systems since the VITA is USELESS without one.

  • @dragonchasers The problem is the memory card. It’s not like having it one week early is some super special value. One week goes by pretty fast, especially if you work. I honestly would be okay with it if the first edition bundle came with the same size card. One of the problems is after this new bundle, the First Edition bundle is not nearly as good of a deal as it was beforehand. Even if the card sizes were the same they only thing you get extra is the game, case and the system a week early. The price is not much different than buying the items separately.

  • i should clarify you also get a case with the first edition bundle!!! so 50$ for a case, smaller memory card and little deviants and get it a week early.

  • Ehhh, whatever. The First Edition Bundle still isn’t so bad. Little Deviants and a PSN game, that’s actually a good combo deal there. I can always buy a new memory card in the months later or so.

  • GOD SERIOUSLY SONY… I knew i should have waited longer! This is really bad advertisement on SONY’s part at the last second for those of us who preordered the Fist Edition Bundle, I KNOW I KNOW your including an AT&T DataConnect Session Pass good for one free 250MB session and a free PSN game but does that justify the price? Efff NO!! I’ll just wait the week and cancel my 1st edition and get the $300 bundle with the 8GB memory card and game -_-

  • Don’t fall for it, it’s just a ploy to get people to buy the unnecessary 3G version and activate your account with the anti-christ, AT&T.

  • @60 they should include ANYTHING with the wifi (just make Little Deviants the game that comes in all bundles already, geez). I was considering getting the FE Bundle, then i actually started thinking and remembered i have Verizon LTE hotspot on my Nexus (unlimited LTE data FTW!) and went with WiFi and a 32GB card for the same price. Ill say it again: Just make Little Deviants the pack in game for all Vitas Sony!

  • While the cost between an 4gb ($20) and 8gb ($30) is only $10…. those of us who get the early edition bundle need to spend $20 to get the same amount of memory (We have 4gb and need to buy another 4gb at $20).

Also, Little Deviants may be a $40 game here in the states but it’s a $22 game in Japan. It’s overpriced here to make it seem more worthwhile in the bundle.

Once you start really looking at the numbers the early edition bundle is getting hosed. I’m sticking with it, mostly because I’m impatient, and I dont feel like changing all my preorders over, but I do feel slighted. The early edition bundle was a way for us to say “Hey sony we are really, really excited about your system and here is some money to get it early!” and sony has now said back to us “thanks, but these 3g units aren’t selling so screw you guys we’re gonna bump those up.”

  • yea push on the 3g version, absolutely no wifi only bundles lol awesome sony …..

  • @nv_Los

Actually it does justify the price. As plenty of other people have pointed out, the case is worth at least $20 and little deviants is $30, and you get it a week early. If you don’t want Little Deviants or the awesome case in the first place, then sure, it isn’t worth it.

I’ll be sticking with my FEB bundle personally; that case looks awesome, I can give Little Deviants to my little brother, and I don’t foresee myself needing a bigger memory card for a while.

  • from what I gather those of use who paid for the First Edition are getting hosed, Those who waited on now getting it week early as well but instead of a case, and Little Deviants, they getting an 8GB over 4GB First Edition gets. According to the text at top seems both will get the data thing and PSN game so no difference there. If you do the math Little Deviants + Case = $50 in difference price, but fact they get a 8GB one while us to paid more only gets a 4GB is BS. Sony you need to correct this before you find yourself with angry mob of customers, who cancel the 1st and go with this one.

For those saying talking about the two according to my reading 3G/WiFi will have both WiFi and 3G network connectivity – meaning you can use it the same as someone with just the WiFi version, but if you have a 3G plan you able to use that to allow internet anywhere and not just where hot spots are at. I have AT&T and only reason I getting this one is encase I decide I want to get a data plan (right now I have no plans to, as I don’t need it) and that the 3g/WiFi version has a GPS that regular WiFi doesn’t

  • @MarkarJin and @nv_Los The $300 bundle also and includes the DataConnect Session Pass and free PSN game (upon 3g activation).

  • @Dragonchasers: I don’t see anywhere on my Amazon first edition bundle preorder that it includes a PSN game or 250 mb of wireless service.

Am I overlooking something? The 8gb card should be standard. According to early specs, the 4gb will only house two PSN games tops.

  • @WriteRCastle — Well sure, if you’re not that eager for a Vita then the First Edition bundle isn’t for you; in fact smart money is to wait for the first price drop, when the game library is much bigger.

I think it’s funny though that people are acting like Sony is holding a gun to their head over this First Edition Bundle. If you’re not happy with it, cancel your pre-order and switch to the new bundle.

  • lol dragon I can’t wait to get ahold of it as well. i am not sure sony can do anything about the first edition bundle at this stage. might be too late to upgrade the first edition bundle with 8gb’s at this stage as they may already be in production so basically we are paying a premium to play it early and the parts that sucks is that we are getting a smaller memory card. maybe they can sweeten the deal by offering the first edition bundle orders with another free psn game or credit to use on the store for their digital games if they register the device before the first week is up so they know it was the people that bought the system early.

  • @neuroned Did you read the first paragraph of this post? It’s where Sony just announced the new editions to the First Edition Bundle.

‘ If you were one of the lucky consumers to pre order the PS Vita First Edition Bundle, in addition to the PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi hardware, a limited edition case, a 4GB PS Vita Memory Card and Little Deviants game, we will now be including an AT&T DataConnect Session Pass good for one free 250MB session, and a PlayStation Network game – both provided upon 3G activation. And the best part, you still get it a week before the official launch date.”

  • You guys getting screwed over and over by $ONY and you still going back for more. I really don’t get you guys. There’s no way i’m gonna pay 400$ for a fµcking handheld console, that’s for sure. I’m selling my PS3 and getting an Xbox 360 instead, this is getting fµcking ridiculous.

  • It’s still a little pricey for me. Give me a WiFi bundle with a memory card AND a decent game for $250 and I’m back in. I’m just not interested in spending $300+ to get up and running the way I’d like to.

I know $50 might not sound like a lot, but that could go toward another PS3 game for me.

  • @Dragonchasers

It depends on where you place the value of the First Edition bundle. If the main allure of it for you was getting it a week early, then it still has its value. If you added up the values of the bonus items ($20 for the 4GB, $30 for Little Deviants, ~$20 for the case), you knew you were originally saving ~$20 and getting it a week early.

Now with the existence of the Launch bundle, you’re no longer saving as much, because the existence of the Launch Bundle basically means that an 8GB card is included in the price of a standard 3G/Wifi Vita (at launch only, but that’s kinda why we’re all here), but it is for some reason downgraded for the First Edition bundle. Purchasers of the Launch Bundle now save $30 without even spending an extra cent on their purchase.

Suddenly getting it a week early is no longer a temptation for me. I’ll probably be cancelling my First Edition bundle in a week or so unless Sony upgrades the bundle to seem

  • @db_666 – Good luck getting ANYTHING for free out of M$, bro. I’ve been there, have fun dumping out your wallet to have a decent time.

  • I will definitely be picking up this new bundle (the $299 one)!!!

Are people not aware that the First Edition Bundle is actually the better deal?

Both bundles come with an AT&T DataConnect Session Pass ($15), and a free downloadable game ($10-$50 depending on the game).

But the First Edition Bundle also comes with Little Deviants ($30), a case ($20), and a 4GB memory stick ($25). Plus you get it a week early!

The new bundle on the other hand only has an 8GB memory stick ($35).

  • @db_666

What does this have to do with the PS3 or 360? Oh well, enjoy M$ charging you to play online.

    Obvious troll is obvious…

  • @killersense — I figure I’ll end up buying a 32 GB card before the madness subsides anyway… I always get carried away when a new console launches. Then end up paying for it, at 16% interest, for months after. LOL

  • @WOMGBBQKazer i get what your saying and thats exactly why I dont think its a good value for me, I really dont care about the case and I rather buy UNCHARTED on release as far as the memory card goes, trust me 4gb is not enough,UNCHARTED alone uses 1.4gb

  • this honestly great something I was hoping Sony and ATT would do first edition. to bad we dont get the 8 gig card but hey another game added to it will do me just fine thank you

  • @Dragonchasers I’ve very eager to get a Vita, which is why I’m not waiting for the price drop, but you’re acting like 7 days is a really long time. It’s not like you’re getting the system super early. The problem is you’re essential paying $50 dollars more for a the case and the game, which really isn’t saving you any money considering the game is only $30. My main problem is the cheaper bundle have a smaller memory card. The only real added value is getting it week early. And I’m okay with that, but the problem is when the item was first available for preorder, you were getting a much better value.

  • People need to take a chill pill. If you ordered a first edition bundle already and you like this one more. CANCEL YOUR OTHER ORDER and replace. If getting it early is not important to you and you’d like the 8GB card over the 4GB card, and the 250MB of free data over Little Deviants….it makes perfect sense to cancel your previously placed First Edition Bundle and order this Launch Bundle at your retailer of choice. Stop the whining and do what suits you best….Just makes no sense to blame them for giving you options, and early enough to do something about it. There’s more than enough time for you to cancel, get your money back, and re-place an order before it launches in almost a month.

  • I wonder what PSN game we’ll be getting. The excitement just got more than real. It’s surreal.

  • As for all of you complaining about the first edition bundle being worse, lets use our brains for a moment:

    First Edition Bundle:
    A week early
    3g Vita ($299)
    Case ($20)
    Little Deviants ($30)
    4GB memory card ($20)
    ATT session pass ($15)
    Free PSN game ($15)

    EQUALS: $ 399 value for $350!

    New bundle:
    3g Vita ($299)
    8gb memory card ($33)
    ATT session pass ($15)
    Free PSN game ($15)

    EQUALS: $363 value for $299

These are both great deals, although new bundle customers still need to buy a case and a game! First edition bundle is still a better deal AND YOU GET IT EARLY!

Relax…Sony is just adding additional value to those that adopt early. Sounds like a good strategy to me.

  • It’s gonna be hysterical when the PSN download is a $1.99 mini.

  • @XionPi – I certainly understand that logic. I’m wary of the “extremely limited” part of the description of the launch day bundle. I’m not one to stand in line in the cold for these things and knowing me, I’d end up missing out. Maybe it’s all just marketing, but I was happy with the First Edition Bundle yesterday, and today’s announcement adds more value to it (a free PSN game when we activate the 3G).

  • @nv_Los

Yeah understandable, in that case I’d say cancel your FEB pre order and get the 3g bundle + uncharted for $350 instead.

I just wish they’d tell us what PSN games we can get for free with this promotion.

  • @Blueblizzard Your math contradicts your argument since the bundle is 50 dollars more, which according to your math would cover the game and the case.

  • I like how the box saya “Memory Required (Not Included)” and right next to it it clearly sayas that it includes an 8gb memory card. I am glad I pre-ordered the 3G version. I think if people care about the bigger memory card, then they should cancel their first edition pre-orders and put the extra money towards getting a game that they want.

  • THE BOTTOM LINE is they announce free added bonuses as an incentive to buy there product.

Today they announce there gonna give free added bonus to the products they already were going to sell, the expensive model gets less free added incentives then the cheaper model.

MAKE TODAY’S ADDED BONUSES EVEN ACROSS THE BOARD!

  • @Ethereal

Since when is saving $49 a better deal than saving $64?

  • @49

What your not understanding is that the $20 extra value in the First edition bundle is kind of canceled out by the $50 increase in price. So are we supposed to Pay $50 for a $20 value? I think if they threw in an 8Gb card with the First Edition bundle it would make it not seem like a HUGE F*** YOU from Sony. I think Sony should either upgrade the First Edition bundle, or give this new bundle to the First Edition Pre-orders and cancel the bundle for Feb 22nd.

  • hhhhhmmm i dunno i would say that the real cold and the braves are the ones that went and reserved first edt bundle cause already had made plans and pulled some of there money aside not to mention loyal fans so in my opnion i want a bigger memory card than what the bundle brings come on sony dont do this why didnt u give the 8 gig to the first edt bundle and the 4 gig to the regular adopters is not like the early week is any good perk theres not much to be done with the console until after the 22nd problably :(

  • wow this is a disapontment that i am even thinking of cancelling my reservastion and get the regular i am totally with mskrob20 idea
