Special Launch Day PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi Bundle Announced

With only 27 days until the launch of PlayStation Vita, we are excited to announce two PS Vita 3G/WiFi bundles. If you were one of the lucky consumers to pre order the PS Vita First Edition Bundle, in addition to the PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi hardware, a limited edition case, a 4GB PS Vita Memory Card and Little Deviants game, we will now be including an AT&T DataConnect Pass good for one free 250MB data session (a $14.99 value) upon purchase of one 250 MB data session, and a PlayStation Network game – both provided upon 3G activation on the AT&T mobile broadband network. And the best part, you still get it a week before the official launch date.

Vita First Edition Bundle

We are happy to announce today that we will be creating an extremely limited edition PlayStation Vita 3G/Wi-Fi bundle designed to reward those who brave the cold to stand in line on February 22nd (or even those who come in the few days that follow). In addition to the PS Vita hardware, we will be including an 8GB PS Vita Memory Card, an AT&T DataConnect Pass and a PlayStation Network game all for the usual MSRP of $299. This SKU is part of a promotional offer and will sell out immediately so we strongly recommend that you purchase your PS Vita early to make sure you get the extra value!

While the system is a fantastic option, the addition of 3G-network access is perfect for the gamer that wants convenience, community and connection – basically the ability to immediately socialize with your gaming community. Using the AT&T mobile broadband network also allows you to engage in multi-player gaming, utilize GPS location-based digital gifting, stay up to date with continuous LiveArea scores and game ranking news feeds, compete for in-game achievements, engage in PS Vita to PS3 cross-platform game play, cross-game message with Party, and have access to software updates, all while on the go. You’ll also be able to login to the PS Store and download new content and add-ons for some of your favorite titles.

There are lots of exciting updates still to come as we get closer to launch, and we will be sure to keep you posted. Our goal here at PlayStation is to transform every aspect of life into an entertainment experience. We know when you get your hands on Vita you may really never stop playing!

  • Wow. marlyt some of us work for a living and don’t like throwing our money away. If you want to bend over and take it from the “Great Sony” by all means go ahead.Just don’t be shocked when the rest fo us don’t drink the Kool aid . Getting the Vita a week early is cool but there aren’t many people willing to pay an extra $50 bucks for it. Sony screwed up on the first edition plain and simple

  • I pre-ordered the First Edition Bundle, and while I don’t exactly feel cheated or anything like that, I do think upgrading the Memory Card in the First Edition Bundle to 8GB (to match the launch edition bundle) would be a welcome change.

  • My next gaming platform purchases will be the 3rd generation of the PS4 and XBOX 720 or whatever…and Wii U for my wife.

  • @ 201 …….. don’t you mean 4th generation for PS4, 3rd for Xbox and who knows how many for Nintendo?

  • Wow. I can’t believe how many people on here cannot READ. People are so anxious to get on the soap box they start climbing on it before they’re even finished reading the post (or the first PARAGRAPH, for that matter).

Anyway, I live in Canada and have the early edition WIFI bundle pre-ordered (Canada only). Any insight on Canadian 3G plans yet?

  • no, I am going to wait for the better versions of each system. I got stuck with a 20 gig XBOX 360, an 80 gig PS3 and well the wii is a wii. I want a good version of those systems and not feel ripped off for a lesser system for the same money,

  • I am not going to shell out another $300 for a system with a bigger HDD…and get only $100 trade in for my $399 system. Sony really knows how to really piss of very loyal customers.

  • Why still no love for Wifi buyers? we are going to be camping out and shelling out a lot of money too, we could AT LEAST use one goody to go by its side….

  • I’m getting this !

  • What about the people who have had theirs preordered since it was announced?

  • Very cool, for those of us that didn’t preorder/ want to stand in line.

  • We are waiting for a price drop. The prices offered are too much for a handheld. I don’t care if it could make me breakfast it’s still too much.

  • Sony I congrats u! this is how u market this system! u listened to ur fans and for that i will be getting that 3g/wifi bundle instead of my wifi only that i have reserved. Now the only thing left for u to do is to REDUCE THE OVERPRICED cost of the at&t plans… 250 MB to play online…. thats like what? 15 minutes of an online game or maybe less??
apart of that U are doing a great job. First day buy for me :)

  • @ soldierone I agree WiFi should have some bonus

I gettign 3G for the GPS feature and fact I have At&T. I have no plan right now to get a 3G plan but I did want that GPS feature that was only on WiFi/3G models, but if I can’t use it without 3G than I have no need to keep this model unless I get a plan, and I better off with the WiFi version only.

  • @God of lyf
Then dont buy it, Sony has priced the Vita at a very reasonable price! Go buy an Ipod see how much it cost and u cant even play decent games on it. so in other words Fu%$ Off.

  • @ DarkOne_PR what would be really smart of Sony and they would make so much more money, if they included the 3G plans as part of Plus system, if your a plus you get maybe not 3G of data but like 1G a month, this would get more people willing to buy the Plus account, on top of getting people to buy the WiFi/3G model.

If you had plus and was given fee data a month, even if it was the 250mb would you not buy the 3G Vita to use that feature of your plus account? I think not, that like buying it and not using automatic update feature (feature that downloaded updates, patches for your games, and even demos for you) all saving you time, Heck even like not taking any of the free content you are offered, don’t buy a membership to somewhere and waste it, unless your rich as heck and like throwing money away.

  • I don’t know why all of you are complaining about Sony’s new offers, they ADDED stuff to the First edition bundle, and everyone is saying that the people that get it a week early are getting ripped off?
    You’re getting a $300 system,
    A $30 Game,
    I’m assuming a $10 PSN Game or possibly a $20 one,
    A $20 Case,
    A $25 memory card,
    A $15 Data card for the 3G,
And we get it a week early.
that’s a $400 value BEFORE considering the fact that we get it before everyone else, and you’re all complaining about that?
Sure, I wish we got the 8 gb memory card too, but they don’t get little deviants or the case either, so that’s something I see as Sony trying to make sure that everyone has an option that appeals to them.
Other then the people that are getting the wifi models :p but even for them, i’m sure that they are going to be announcing a bundle for the wifi model within a month of launch.

  • First of all, the box says it’s $55 value. Therefore, with the 8gb card being $30 and the 3g being $15, the free game must be a $10 value. So that kinda answers that question.

Secondly, from what I understand, online multiplayer over 3g is limited to things like turned based games.

Third, it sounds like you have to buy a month of 3G service in order to get the free month of 3G and the game. If so, laaaaaaame.

Finally, I just want to know if other retailers, specifically Best Buy, are going to have this bundle available. I’d like to hurry up and order it or the FEB ASAP.

  • You aren’t getting little deviants or the case. Those items are things you are paying the extra $50 for. Before today that also included a 4g memory card. Now i just seems like we are paying more and ultimately not getting very much in return. Alot of people were going with the first edition because it featured a memory stick and you received it a week free. Now if you wait a week and pay nothing extra you receive twice the size of a memory card for free. Everyone is mad because this deal demenished any real benefit for getting the first edition. You end paying 50 more for a game few people are really excited for and a case you may or may not use. When if you wait you get all the other benefit plus a better memory stick and you can take the $50 you saved and buy any game you want and have money left over. It just feels like the first edition got shafted big time with this newer deal.

  • How about Canada? I would pre-order one if a memory card is added to the wifi hardware..

  • Actually first edition is getting in extras,

$15 psn game (a guess for the sake of adding things up)
    $20 case
    $15 data card
    $20 4GB card
    $30 little deviants
$100 worth of stuff, but paying an extra $50 so
    $50 of extras

    3g bundle extras,

    $15 psn game
    $15 data card
    $30 8GB card
$60 worth of stuff and that’s all extra.

so the standard 3g bundle is a better deal by about $10 (ballpark). And even if these bundles were equal in terms of the deals they are, it really makes no sense that the BIG and more expensive bundle has a smaller card.

  • Keep in mind that the First Edition bundle is still a deal obviously and I’m not cancelling mine, but it will definitely leave a sour taste in a lot of people’s mouths and I can sort of see why it would.

  • still doesn’t change the fact that if you don’t buy that bundle on time after it launches, and buy the regular 3g model, and then purchase all of the things included in the first edition bundle, it will cost you more then $400, but the first edition bundle is something that i was going to buy everything included in it, so the extra $50 was a steal for me.
Plus i get it a week early, which i already can’t wait for it, so even if it was JUST a regular 3g model for an additional $50 to get it a week earlier, i probably would have gotten it.
My point is that BOTH options are great deals, If you want it early, and you want Little deviants and the case, then it’s more than worth it.
And personally, i’m buying the 32 gb card anyway, so idc about the memory card, it’ll just be my spare.

  • @ rockstarnati go to http://us.playstation.com/psvita/ and click pre-order and see who has this bundle

  • Well yeah, for me it’ll still be worth getting. I’m likely selling my 4GB card off toa friend getting a wifi or something and buying a 32GB card anyway. It is still weird though, because in most businesses when you spend more you also save more. In this case spending more saves you less.

  • Nice!!! I was already getting the 3g/WiFi Vita. Now it comes with 8gb memory card & 250mb 3g network and a free game. I was going to get a 32 gb memory card now I’m going to wait until the price of the memory card goes down. For all those who are complaining, each version of the Vita, whether its WiFi or 3g/WiFi, has its own plus or minuses.

  • What good is connecting to the PS-Store via 3G when AT&T limits downloads to 20MB? I don’t think there’s anything on the PlayStation Store that’s smaller than 20MB…

  • Where are people getting at that the case is worth 20$? from the looks of it it seems more like a 5-10$ case.i still feel like the first edition bundle is good, but not as better than the 8GB. seriously why not have 8GB on both system bundle? seems fair to me. But this is Sony we are talking about and they couldnt care less about their costumers. If you think im wrong look at the psp fan (me included) till this day we are still left out when it comes to Psn updates.

Back on topic is it so hard to just include 8GB memory stick for us First edition buyers?

  • I also forgot to add if there is any way of knowing what the free game is for connecting to 3g? i have my doubts its actually something worth owning, but you never know.

  • I think the biggest problem here is the size of the card on the pre-order bundle. Please increase it from 4gb to 8gb to match the new bundle, Then the only difference will be the case and Little Deviants a week early for $50. A 4gb card was too small to begin with and should definitely be increased to make parity with the new bundle. As someone who already pre-ordered, I would be appreciative.
Also, please tell us which games we will be able to choose from as the PSN game.

  • So if I preordered just the 3g edition will i get the bundle automatically when I pick it up on the 22nd from best buy?

  • To my knowledge I always thought the 3g wouldnt be backed by continual purchases, so if I got the 3g model, I could use 3g as much as I wanted. Now you have to purchase interent, and pay for it as you use it.
Alot less stoked about the Vita now.

  • Another vote for all those that said we’re getting “SCREWED” on the First Edition Bundle. Not cool, not cool at all ;(

  • on page one Sony replayed to 5 people, saying this is US only, data and game only happen once you activate a month, so you got to pay 15 it seems just to get free game and 250mb data, and to saying First Edition is better deal because you get it a week early. Only reason i was taking First Edition bundle was for the memory stick and the case, unless they change it, I plan to just change my order and use the 50 dollars I save and buy the Little Dev game and a case (might not be the fancy one that comes with First but I will live) and when it all said and done, have 4GB of more data.

  • I’ve read alot of these comments and alot of people’s rationalization and here is mine.
First edition bundle should look like this:

    Vita 3G – $299 (Vita 3G, ATT 250MB, PSN Game, and 8GB stick)
    4GB Stick
    Little Deviants
    Limited Edition Case

We should get everything that’s included in the $299 price, plus the things that are $50 extra, and get it a week early for being the most loyal fans. Doesn’t that seem right?

  • Cool, now can the US PSN Store be up for the vita now?

I want to play my vita! And I can’t because my ps3 won’t transfer my psp games to my vita and I have to do it through the psn store. BS!

  • Well Sony, you are out of you mind if you think customers are dumb enough to think that just getting the game a week early. Your case is worth $10, and your Little Deviants game is retailing at $30. That adds up to $50.

YOU HAVE DEVALUED MY FIRST EDITION PREORDER. But this is starting to be TYPICAL BUSINESS for you. A long line of insensitivity to consumers including exposing our identities to the world by not even following BASIC elementary IT security protocols, and this time you once again slap a crap sandwich in the hands of your First Edition preorder customers and expect us to be dumb enough to buy it.

When Xbox 760 launches, I’m switching over and never looking back while you guys sit there in Japan and wonder why the West isn’t a dumb as you think we are.

  • Sorry for the sentence fragment, but I’m really MAD at Sony for this and am typing too fast.

  • @ JCrusan147, I agree First Edition should get what included in this bundle on top of getting a 4GB stick, a game, and case – so we end up with 2x memory sticks. I don’t see them selling many First Editions now unless they add more bonus to the First to be better like its supposed to be

  • It’s even more of a slap in the face that they are coming here and educating us that it is the better deal. NO it’s NOT. You just devalued the First Edition Sony. Do you think we are stupid? Can you not do basic math?

  • Why is it so hard for people to comprehend things? The free PSN game is a $10 value and you have to buy a month of 3G service in order to get the free month of 3G and the game.

  • I will buy the wifi only version

  • Email them, I did. It may not do any good , but at the very least let them know you think youre getting screwed and as their customer your not happy. After the terrible Vita sales in Japan they need loyal fans like us.

  • Of course only in the US, and of course still no word on 3G Vita in Canada. I mean the launch is only less than a month away, no big deal right?

  • Bummer. I know that first editions are also getting little deviants and case but u are saying added value is $85 but we are paying $50 more than 3G in the first place? So we are trading in 4 gb to get it a week early? Really??

  • Do we not have any more details on the PSN game we get? Or is it just a voucher for any PSN game you can play on the Vita?

  • Alright, you made me do it. I upgaded my pre-order to the 3G version.

    Are you happy now? :-D

  • wow. this is the most two faced thing you could have done.what do the people who bought the wifi only bundle get?!this is BS.well time to cancel my freakin pre order.

  • That’s some clever wording, saying the First Edition bundle has more value. It obviously has more value, since it comes with more and costs more. However it is not the better deal, unless having the system a week early really means that much to you.

  • hey sony how about you let us pre order ps vita games off psn ?
