Special Launch Day PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi Bundle Announced

With only 27 days until the launch of PlayStation Vita, we are excited to announce two PS Vita 3G/WiFi bundles. If you were one of the lucky consumers to pre order the PS Vita First Edition Bundle, in addition to the PS Vita 3G/Wi-Fi hardware, a limited edition case, a 4GB PS Vita Memory Card and Little Deviants game, we will now be including an AT&T DataConnect Pass good for one free 250MB data session (a $14.99 value) upon purchase of one 250 MB data session, and a PlayStation Network game – both provided upon 3G activation on the AT&T mobile broadband network. And the best part, you still get it a week before the official launch date.

Vita First Edition Bundle

We are happy to announce today that we will be creating an extremely limited edition PlayStation Vita 3G/Wi-Fi bundle designed to reward those who brave the cold to stand in line on February 22nd (or even those who come in the few days that follow). In addition to the PS Vita hardware, we will be including an 8GB PS Vita Memory Card, an AT&T DataConnect Pass and a PlayStation Network game all for the usual MSRP of $299. This SKU is part of a promotional offer and will sell out immediately so we strongly recommend that you purchase your PS Vita early to make sure you get the extra value!

While the system is a fantastic option, the addition of 3G-network access is perfect for the gamer that wants convenience, community and connection – basically the ability to immediately socialize with your gaming community. Using the AT&T mobile broadband network also allows you to engage in multi-player gaming, utilize GPS location-based digital gifting, stay up to date with continuous LiveArea scores and game ranking news feeds, compete for in-game achievements, engage in PS Vita to PS3 cross-platform game play, cross-game message with Party, and have access to software updates, all while on the go. You’ll also be able to login to the PS Store and download new content and add-ons for some of your favorite titles.

There are lots of exciting updates still to come as we get closer to launch, and we will be sure to keep you posted. Our goal here at PlayStation is to transform every aspect of life into an entertainment experience. We know when you get your hands on Vita you may really never stop playing!

  • I might get this, but it depends on the game that comes with it. I dont want an 8g memory card but since its free thats a good thing. ANd 3G , im never going use it. I use the wifi at my school and wifi on home to log on PSN store . It all depends on the free psn game. If its lame thn i will be getting the wifi only version and the 3gb memory card

  • John Koller,

The new additions are appreciated. Your team has included more value to my First Edition Bundle pre-order and I am pleased. Thank you.

  • @Shrewder don’t praise them they ripping you off man can’t you see it? before this bundle you got it 1 week sooner and a 4gb card, (game & case = $50 more you paid), now with this bundle, you just getting it 1 week sooner, the 4gb card not special anymore since this new bundle gives 8GB. Added data plan and psn game both get so no difference their. So as you can see First Edition is no longer a deal, as on Feb 22 you can just buy the game and a case for $50 leave you all the same stuff First Edition had for $350 price, but have gained 4GB of storage

  • Thank You ! Nightmare_Lord. That is the best way I have seen anyone describe it so far and your right this is not something we should be thanking them for. It basically means first addition buyers are paying more for less and the description that its “more value” is a total joke. It wouldn’t be so bad if they didn’t refer to first addition buyers as their “most loyal fans” in the first addition announcement. We are such good fans we deserve to pay more ! :D They need to pitch that to someone that buys it because I don’t.

  • GIVE WIFI USERS LOVE TOO!!!

  • i don’t understand how you people are accusing sony of making the first edition bundle worse than the 3g/wi-fi model. you are all obviously between 4-5 years old and haven’t taken any sort of math classes in life. try recalculating the worth of both bundles before throwing around false statements.

  • @hanzo11 – funny but so true. Like I said reason I was getting FD was for the memory stick as I knew between game and case that where the extra $50 came in. But now I better off going with this bundle and unless Sony does something by Jan 31st when I pick up my FF 13-2 game, I going to change my per-order to this bundle.

@nitroz76 buy this bundle and just not use the 3G, its 50 more than WiFi only but you can chalk that up to being for the extras or how ever you want.

  • hey sony now that we are talking about promotions , how about get ModNation Racers and get early access to Little Big Planet multiplayer demo ? or how about get Unit 13 and get access to Resistance Burning Skies beta / multiplayer demo ?

  • Sony, I was a psp owner and expect great things to happen with the Vita. But you can’t just put up last minute deals like this that pisses off limited edition buyers. (I myself included).

I’m disappointed with the price drop for Little Deviants. I had the mentality of, “If I don’t like Little Deviants, I can sell it and save towards another game.” But now I can’t do that anymore considering you’ve dropped the price. Thus, the value of the limited edition bundle has decreased even further.

I love you and all but this isn’t fair to the people who already pre-ordered the limited edition bundle. I’m also curious to know why is Uncharted Golden Abyss priced at $50? It’s not even developed by Naughty dog. Certainly, its too much especially if your trying to compete with the mobile market that prices their games at $7-$9 dollars. I really believe you should re revaluate some of your price tags for the games…

  • @ApeXXmazterXx Why don’t you do the math. Add up the value of both bundles and subtract the price of the non bundle 3g/Wifi Vita. The First Edition bundle may have more value, but the savings are less.

  • @ApeXXmazterXx really? I 25, and have taken lots of Math being a computer major. I just broke it down to why this bundle beats the First Edition. Only difference between these two is you get First Edition 1 week sooner, game and case (despite not being special First Edition one) can be gotten for $50 total or less. Now if you wait extra week you get 4GB more storage. Money you didn’t spend on First can go to buy a case and the little Dev game so that doesn’t matter.

SO once again get First Edition yield it week soon, getting this bundle yields 4GB more – now you do the math do you give up 4GB extra just to get it sooner or do you wait. Heck if you decide you don’t want the game and case and have per-order Uncharted or something, than in reality This bundle saved you $50 and you still get 4GB extra over First Edition. Winner = This Bundle plain and simple – unless they up 1st to 8gb or add another stuff, First Edition isn’t better no matter how you spin it, 1 week sooner doesn’t make up for 4gb you lose.

  • @ Ape, Little Deviants was priced at $39.99 when I ordered the limited edition bundle and now its $29.99 =/

  • all of you people saying that the first edition bundle needs to get the 8 gb memory stick are forgetting that sony is already boxing these things up and has been for over a month.
You want them to throw away all of those boxes, and start over?
or open them all up and swap out the memory sticks?
I highly doubt that the people on here that are whining over nothing are going to warrant that kind of expense from the company.

  • @Maniahuggs24 Uncharted is kinda by Naughty dog, they over saw the game to make sure it was just as good as the ones they released. SEC is releasing Uncharted but with Naughty dog approve – on Qore esp 44 they talk about the game and that how I know about this, plus I bet you can find interview on it back this up as well.

  • @JoeTheBeast16 if they can add data and PSN as part of the bundle they can’t add simple card. Far I know I have not seen any box art for First Edition like we see in this bundle, so for all we know they haven’t even done anything yet. If they have than instead of upgrading the memory, just Include 8gb as extra so First Edition get everything this Bundle gets plus 4gb memory, a game, and the case. Even if your right and its been boxed they can easily ship out 8gb cards to retailers to hand out for those who get First Edition if it to much trouble to add it to the box. So as you see, Their is no reason why First Edition can’t have 8gb free, Put in the box, give it separate when you pick it up, tape to the top of the box, whatever floats their boat – It can be done with min effort, they just got to care enough to do it.

  • @ Nightmare, I know. But I don’t think Naughty Dog would of added touch controls and whatnot. In my opinion, if the game is not by them, meh. But thats a completely different topic all on its own. Don’t want to get into it.

  • You know from a bussiness perspective I would much rather take the trouble to repackage a product that will sale (put the 8gb memory card in the firs edition) then not do it and have a bunch of stock that sits in a warehouse because no one wants it. This is something Sony should have considered before releasing this deal. Flawed logic to think its going to cost them too much to fix the first edition. It’s much more expensive to never sell those units because their customers aren’t as gulible as they thought and won’t buy it.

  • This deal is great!! I canceled my wifi order and pre-ordered this one on Newegg!! I hope the PSN game isn’t crap though. I can’t wait for the Vita. I really hope for Sony’s sake that there is MASSIVE advertising soon and at the very least at the Superbowl. I mean advertise the crap out of it at the Superbowl and show off it’s features, games and power!!!

  • As a Canadian consumer and loyal Playstation customer, I find it very discouraging when promotions like this are not included for Canadian SKUs.

I have had the Canadian First Edition bundle pre-ordered for months, and we are not being offered the choice of 3G/Wifi or just Wifi. As far as I know, this is because Sony has been unable to gain a partnership with a Canadian carrier. Now, we are given the explanation “Yes, this is a U.S. only bundle as that territory will have the 3G units on February 22nd.”, which covers only one of the two bundles outlined in the article. The other bundle is just an expansion of the already-existing First Edition Bundle.

I see no reason that the CAN First Edition bundle cannot also include a free PSN voucher, as we are also loyal PS customers who have paid the $50 premium to receive the system one week in advance. We should be awarded all of the same items included for the same premium paid. If anything, our FE bundle should include more than the US SKU, as to make up for the missing 250MB data plan (a $15 value).

Sony, Please fix this and give us our free game too.

    Thanks.

  • For all the peeps like me who preordered the first edition bundle: that means (if you could change your order and if you wanted to) you have a choice between an 8gb memory card instead of a 4gb, and little deviants.

  • @Nightshade869 – They are showing it off at events, also last I check Sony wasn’t listed as advertisers for Super Bowl, also why Newegg? should order it from Amazon or just get it from Gamestop. Unless Newegg is given you 1 day shipping or something that would give you this one Feb 15 and not days later.

  • I also hope that the PSN game is Escape Plan….

  • Hmmm, nice packs but I think sony can do better, so later this year i know they will launch another pack more valuable and economic, because if you are to pay the console + card + good game you’ll end up spending at least 400$. I bet they can do better thant that !

  • Sony you must sell the Vita with memory card everywhere Japan Europe and Us. This bundles is very good but is only for US. A lot off people is disappointed with those expensive memory cards you see that for Japan

  • Thank you bluebl1zzard.

  • This awesome, I wasn’t planning on it, but now I think I’ll get a 3G model!! Will this PSN code get us any game? If not, will the game be announced any time soon?

  • @ Nightmare_Lord

what sony need to do its an unlimited internet plan montly specifically for the vita! not this crap about 250 mb. what can u do with that? maybe a match of call of duty? they need to give us a plan like 30 – 35 Dollar for a month of unlimited internet and im in on it

  • @everyone complaining about being ripped off.. I’m more then happy to pay $50.00 more for the first edition bundle, because I get it a week earlier, and I get everything else the other bundle offers but the 8g card. The 4 gig that comes with the first edition bundle is already being replaced by me for a 32gig card. So what’s the big deal??? Stop crying, or saying you’re being ripped off. Go back and READ it all again!!!!

  • @DarkOne_PR from what I gather you would only be able to do turn base game, and games like COD would not be playable on 3G

  • I hope that enough people complain they will bump up the 4gb card to an 8gb card on the first edition. Other wise I will also feel screwed. Thanks Sony

  • I’m a bit confused, from what i have been reading. If i pre order the First Edition, will i still get this offer? Please reply
Heres’ hopeing i win one at Taco Bell :D

  • @halfdemon2008, um that choice would also be.. Do I want the Vita on the 15th or the 22nd..

  • @cloud_x1 & Shantok53 LOL, what isn’t there to understand??? They have already posted in red the answers to what you all are complaining about. And why do you feel screwed Shan?? One of the main reasons you were paying $50 extra was the early release date???? Yea.. I”ll take that over waiting another week and getting an 8 gig card rather then a 4gig card…

  • @ SteveO1966 you don’t see the big deal because you getting a 32gig one, so doesn’t matter to you if it came with 4gb, 8gb,, 16gb heck even 30GB because your getting the 32 which is bigger and will not need the other.

  • Is there any chance we’ll get a similar bundle in Australia?

Here we have to pay $350 US for just the WiFi console, with the ‘preorder starter kit’ just being some earphones, $8 off a PSN game and some PlayStation Home avatar items….

Please don’t treat Australia the same way as with the PSP. I ended up using a US account for my PSPgo just so I wouldn’t have to pay twice the price and actually have a decent selection of games.

  • disregard my previouse comment, all i willbe getting different is the MC, 4 instead of 8, but that’s cool cuz ill be getting the 32 GB MC a month later

  • @Nightmare_Lord are you trying to put a price on time? To me.. the original first edition for $50 more is worth every penny getting it a week earlier! who cares about an extra 4gig??? I mean 8gigs.. how long you think thats going to last??? That’s why I’m sticking with my original first edition bundle along with the 32gig card I ordered.

  • @ SteveO1996, i wasn’t complaining >.>, the page didnt load completely, so i didnt see the first part

  • @cloud_x1, well I hope that answers your question :) Personally I’m sticking with the original first edition.. :) Woot, a week earlier.. :)

  • @ SteveO1996 yeah i really want to pre order the First Edition, but first im going to try my luck at Taco Bell for about a week, i need my money for college first :(

  • So is there any news on whether or not you guys are going to have that UMD Passport program?

Because that is the only thing keeping me from becoming an owner of this system since none of the announced launch titles interest me (well I am interested in Gravity Rush, but that still doesn’t have a concrete release date).

  • @Cloud_X1 good luck with your taco bell adventure. I have terrible luck with sweepstakes, so I usually don’t even bother with stuff like that anymore. Hope you get one :)

  • @ SteveO1966 getting it a week early was never the selling point with me, I knew from day one that most likely I wouldn’t get around to playing until that Sat or Sunday, or even Monday. Selling point was the Free 4GB Memory that came with it since Vita only has 512mb built in. So I figured I pick this up when I pick my TM copy up I per-ordered. So since time was never my issue, I happy waiting a week and getting 4GB more

  • @181
agreed im replacing the 4gb memory card to. i could care less for a 8gb card .because how long will 8gb last not long for me! i need all games on the go not 2 or 3 sorry the FEB is pre-ordered an staying that way for now.

  • We need a WIFI bundle like Europe/ Asia is getting or gotten.

  • OK so…..I gotta say I agree that only getting the 4GB card does feel like a bit of a slap in the face, I’d say the FE bundle is still a good value. Especially considering that personally, I’m prone to going overboard with hardware launches and as a result I already have the Vita Starter Kit pre-ordered too (includes a second 4GB card). I would very much appreciate if Sony upped the to the 8GB in the FEB, but ultimately I’m just stoked to be getting a new piece of awesome hardware! OH YEAH…..The one thing I’m perturbed about is that as someone (or several people perhaps) before me has mentioned, it would be very nice if someone from the blog could comment and give us a little something here!
    ………….that is all LOL

  • @287 Nightmare_Lord , There is no accessible on board storage in the Vita, NONE of the stuff in the First Edition Bundle was ever free except maybe the case that could be considered as such. That said, the case, if sold at retail would have been $10-$15 tops. It was never a great deal or anything, top it off the value of the bundle was subjective and depended on if you were interested in what was included with it.

    Anyway…

The price between the FEB and normal 3G package is basically the same now. For $299 for the non-FEB version you get a 8GB card for free and with the $50 saved you could spend $30 on Little Deviants if you so choose to and then buy a good hard case like Hori’s (an officially licensed product) for $10-$15 or you could even go and spend $20 on one and it would be the same as if you got the first edition bundle and you’d get more out of it due to the free card. People still getting the First Edition Bundle are essentially paying for just to get it a week early now. IMO EVERYONE that pre-ordered the FEB and even the WiFi model has a right to be pissed off at Sony. But be glad Sony did this with time to change up your pre-orders instead of after launch.

  • Sony is doing this because they’re clearly going to make money off the 3G model alone due to the higher price and the AT&T deal, that’s quite obvious with how much they’re pushing it and not so much on the WiFi version, where they’re taking a possible loss.

So I understand why Sony is doing it but I can’t say I like it and clearly a lot of others don’t either. I’ve had my pre-order in place for the WiFi model since June 13th of (obviously) last year, I pre-ordered a 32GB memory card to go with it. I’m not alone in seeing this as a bit of a slap in the face and really, Sony just caused themselves a bit of bad PR with this.

Am I going to switch my pre-order? I don’t know and TBH, there’s a more likely chance I’ll just canceling everything all together and wait than play Sony’s game.

  • How can you be angry about this? Just cancel the one you pre-ordered and get this new bundle. I plan to go return my FEB pre-order at Best Buy and just pre-order the 3G one instead. Unfortunately, I have called around and nobody knew what I was talking about, or even what a Vita was. Am I to understand that the 8gb card and ATT data will just be packaged in with all launch 3G vitas, and not a completely seperate Bundle? I just worry about not getting it from a retailer who may not be aware to offer them.

  • I want a vita so bad. For me to get it on launch they need to include the wifi model with a memory card and maybe a small game. I just can’t pay more than 300 after tax. I’d say little deviants and a 4 gb stick for 250 would be a sweet spot. That would be a great start and I would for sure in the following months get games like uncharted and prob modnation. I really don’t want to wait for the black friday sale on this.
