PlayStation Store Update

Hi Everyone –
This week, the folks at Konami are excited to bring you the new PSN Release Puddle! Relying on the physics of water and other fluids (hot magma anyone?) in ever-evolving environments, you’ll need to guide the fluid flow with precision to get to the goal. While it seems like a simple concept, the gameplay requires a fun puzzle-focused mentality where you must tilt the entire environment, balancing the push of each fluid’s unique properties with the pull of environmental factors of gravity, friction, and obstacles. With PlayStation Move compatibility, and a demo available as well, Puddle is set to make a big splash on PlayStation Network.

You may have seen EA’s news predicting the Super Bowl winners with Madden NFL 12. If you haven’t picked up this year’s edition yet, you can set up your own Super Bowl match yourself as it’s now available in the PS3 Full Games category. Joining it is also Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, its predecessor Kane & Lynch: Dead Men, and Mini Ninjas. PlayStation Plus subscribers will have access to a 1 hour rental of all of these via Full Game Trials as well.

Twisted Metal fans; the big day is almost here. Although you won’t be able to buy the game until February 14th, the demo is now available to download! Get your hands on the new online multiplayer experience in classic Free for All or the all-new Nuke mode. In other demo news, Syndicate is also now available to try via a 4 player co-op demo.

Since the new PlayStation Plus content for February, announced earlier today, won’t be hitting until next week, this week is your last chance to get some of January’s free content like Back To The Future: The Game – Full Series, PS one Classics Syphon Filter 1-3, and PSN Game Sword and Soldiers. But with January’s final update for Plus subscribers, there’s plenty of new Full Game Trials as well as some great new free Avatars and Themes. Check out the Abstract Art theme in particular.

That’s all for this week. Check out the full details of this week’s update below, and let us know your thoughts in the comments below or join the discussion on the PlayStation Community forums in the Official PlayStation Store Update thread.

Here is the weekly PlayStation Store update:

  • @M-Easy

That’s the first thing that crossed mind mind. Not the sue part, but “oh yeah we got some Fatboy avatars!”

  • Where are the ps1 classics or some ps2 classics. Still waiting for FFX and suikoden II

    • We’ve got some PS2 Classics on the way soon. PS one Classics are of course still being worked on, but sometimes it takes time to iron out bugs to work properly via emulation on PS3.

  • If anyone wants to play the Syndicate co-op demo with me tonight add me.

  • @8

    I believe on February 14th.

  • Why do some of the full PS3 games have no 60-minute preview for Playstation Plus members?

    • Most really should have the Full Game Trial as an option, but sometimes, the publishers of a specific game do not elect to enable the option.

  • Hey! Any information about the release of “Worms Ultimate Mayhem” ?

BTW, I want to give a suggestion: Why not make Sphinx and The Cursed Mummy (from Eurocom) a PS2 Classic for download? Can you forward that suggestion? Thank you so much…!

  • MORE AVATARS!!!

  • Well’s Killzone 1 PS2 Port and the WWE 12 DLC characters? Also, is the Twisted Metal Black that comes with Twisted Metal ’12 an HD remake or a PS2 Port with no trophies.

Also, why no trophies for Ryder White Dead Island campaign?

  • With the hype slowly building around Xcom: Enemy Unknown, I think it’d be amazing to see the original X-Com: UFO Defense that was on PS1 to be put up as a classic game.

  • Will grand theft auto vice city and 3 put on the store this month?

please reply sir my fav game!!!!

  • Is there a reason Phantasy Star Portable was taken down from the store ?

  • Hey I see that you have NBA team themes. Will there be an NFL team themes in the near future?

  • Hey Morgan Haro my question is if you know when more psone classics will get released and if you know when crash bash will come out? Also does the vita have psone suppourt or will i have to wait a couple of years cause this is the reasson if i should or shouldent buy the vita thanks :D

  • CNOEV1L, Twisted Metal: Black is a PS2 port only so most likely no trophies.

Sony, why aren’t you hyping the new Twisted Metal more? To add to the excitement isn’t anyone working on more themes or avatars? I want my Sweet Tooth, Dollface, Grimm and, especially, Preacher avatars at the very least!

  • Can we please get Brave Fencer Musashi and Legend of Legaia?

  • @62 from everything I’ve read you will be able to play psp and psone games on vita at launch. If I’m off I apologize but I’m pretty confident that is the case.

  • @62. I was dead wrong. Only remote play boooooo!!!!

  • Where’s that Resident Evil 6 trailer at?

  • Cool fact

    Madden 2012 PS3 on PSN = 29.99
    Madden 2012 PSP on PSN = 39.99

    LOL

  • i cant add funds with my debt card why?

  • Suikoden II please.

It really can’t be that hard to for Sony and Konami to acquire the proper licensing.

  • Scarface: The World Is Yours.
    Make it happen.

  • TM demo,Syndicate demo,Dead Island Ryder White add-on and Darkness 2 Avatars for me

  • @66 maybe next week it will be on store, but you can watch it on youtube and other places on pc

    4. smackdown here comes the pain
    5. DBZ
    6. matrix path of neo

yout get what type of games i like lol…. oh oho oh!! does anyone know if there will be a DLC sale comin soon? i gotta buy at least 150 bucks worth of dlc…. a sale would be nice… : )

  • The Twisted Metal demo is really the only interesting thing this week. Glad to see Morgan Haro’s response to Reply #3, that there will be an epic update for PS Plus, cuz us Plussers got shafted this week. 5 avatars, a theme, and a 25% discount on a $5 game. That’s it.
And, I am also waiting for some FFX goodness. 13 was so disappointing, and I need FFX to cleanse me!

  • the twisted metal demo and the dead island dlc are prob the best part of this update

  • @72 Yeah I know I can watch it on other places but I like having good trailers on my PS3.

  • DL’d the Puddle demo. Played it until I died at the half opened bridge. Deleted it. R2 + L2 not doing it for me. I like the control and graphics of Fluidity better. Is there an option to use the Dualshock as the tilt control? I saw it used the Move but I didn’t even bother as I didn’t see how it would be an improvement.

Guess I’m just too excited for all next months PS+ stuff, makes this week look too meh. Dam these 5 Tuesday months. May, July and Oct. also each have 5 Tues. this year for any PS+ folk who want to look forward to being disappointed in advance.

  • Is Grace Chen a real person? I remember when Grace Chen started off EVERY SINGLE store update blog post with “Hello, it is time for the weekly store update.” Very robotic.

And now the posts are all like “Hey guys, hot magma anyone?” — with Morgan Haro doing all of the comment replies.

    Is Grace Chen a computer?

    • lol. Grace is indeed as real as it gets and makes things happen behind the scenes so that we can all have an awesome PS Store!

  • Good update this week. I LOVE little avatars like this one I’m using, because it’s random, doesn’t belong to a game, and is an animal lol we need more of these, like some reptiles, preferably a snake avatar!

  • And what about “Rayman Origins”? is it planned for coming to the american PSN?

  • For people asking for Rayman: Origins on the PSN, why not just go in the store and purchase it? I got it a few days ago at Toys ‘R Us for only $19.99, I doubt it will be that price on the PSN.

  • (Off subject) Thanks you sooo much for the VITA digital discounts Sony! Just bought the 32GB VITA memory card & will be LOADING UP on those downloads in the years to come…

  • @ morgan hello do u know when us in the north amrecan section will be seeing the killzone 1 download up in the store

  • @84 it is 30$ at toys r us and a lil cheeper on amazon sorry buddy i felt the need to make sure people didnt get the wrong idea

  • Hate to be a bother but I bought the new Scene it? expansion pack and it’s not working. I got the automatic update for the patch but still nothing. ant idea why it’s not working? Anyone else have this problem ?

  • It looks like the PS2 Classics have dried up. I gave up and bought a PS2.

    • If you’re looking to access the wealth of amazingly awesome PS2 games as quickly as possible, this is in fact, the best option. But of course, we’re working on more PS2 Classics so they work properly on PS3 via digital download as best we can.

  • I am loving this theme and this Squirrel avatar. Just to make sure my Back to the future games will not delete if i never played it right ? I downloaded them but still have yet to play them. Does anyone know ? Also i cant wait to wake up tomorrow and try out the Twisted Metal Demo.

  • @87 At my Toys ‘R Us, and at others it is $19.99, so you don’t need to be sorry, I’m not posting false information. Just because it’s $30 at yours (and on there website), doesn’t mean it’s not a better price at other locations.

  • Hmm…weak week on PSN, but there r two disc releasing today that I got pre-order. So yay =p

@11 U should ask Squarenix, not Sony ya know….

  • @90 As long as you’ve downloaded them, and your subscription is not expiring, then it won’t expire, and therefore you can play it.

  • Any news on DLC for Final Fantasy XIII-2? I heard that the XBOX version already has an extra bow available through the game’s DLC link, but I didn’t see it in the PS3 version yet… I can’t remember the name of the bow either, but it’s different from the pre-order Genji Bow.

  • Talk to Insomniac and get some Resistance avatars on the PlayStation Store! I’m not just talking Resistance 3, I want to see some from all three games (and better than those free on the system). Hale both before and after the infection became apparent, Rachel Parker, Dr. Malikov, Joseph Capelli from both games, and some military and feral chimera.

  • I’m happy there are so many new avatars. Hope that’s the start of a trend. And the free Abstract Expressionist dynamic theme is very nice for Plusers.

  • Any chance of getting a discount/ deal on the Plus subscription rate… been holding of on renewing in hopes that there might be some sort of deal for the year sub…. will probably give in and renew in the next week or two.

  • Can someone make a more organized download list for our accounts?

so annoying trying to find something especially when it jumps if you exit from the download list menu screen!

Can we have a DL list that has folders for each thing like PS1 games are in their own, Demos are in their own, add-ons, full games, etc.

cause of ps+, my list is HUGE!

  • @98 Couldn’t agree more, I hope more features like this will be implemented.

  • Downloading the Twisted Metal demo and Starhawk Beta. Its gonna be a good night
