Hi, everyone. We are releasing a new system software update (v4.10) for PlayStation 3 today that will include a few minor changes that we want to make you all aware of.
First off, once you download the new system software, you will be asked to accept a change to our Terms of Service. In an effort for more unity between PlayStation Network (PSN) and other Sony Entertainment Network services, your “PSN Account” will now be named “Sony Entertainment Network Account.” Please note that this change is one in name only and will not change the PSN that you know and love. You’ll still play games online, still have access to the latest downloadable games and add-ons, and still experience a wide variety of movies, sports and music across PSN.
With this system software update (v4.10), we’ll also be updating the PS3 Internet Browser with improved display speed.

Had to reset… everything. No… not a complete restore (no formatting). Browser seems to work now.

Every since i downloaded the update i get the message “corrupted data” whenever i try to apply a theme to my background. It keeps saying that even if i delete and re-download the theme. It happens to any theme and it was working fine before. Please fix this because myself and a bunch of nother people payed for the themes and know we cant even see them since the corrupted data message keeps showing up.thank you
I do have sony wireless head set I let you know. But my haven’t got my console back yet :).
Browser update still doesn’t fix one of the most glaring problems it has: Not being able to play YouTube videos above 240p. Way to be 8 years behind, Sony.
Well I downloaded and installed this update and now my system says it’s corrupt so you guys should probably make a patch asap so peoples systems don’t need to get rebooted several times only for it to tell you that the system can’t boot with the software thats installed. So now I have to download the update to a flash drive and reinstall it on my system. Oh wait! You don’t even have the update available for download on the Playstation website. So how am I and other people this has happened to supposed to fix their ps3’s?
Just wondering but when will the psp receive a browser update, preferably one that lets it use memory stick space for cache and allows flash and other video-codecs to be used for web viewing?
One pointless change and one that actually was needed…Yet i still find no joy just disappointment that i STILL CANT CHANGE MY DAMN NAME…it would seem dat Microsoft has spoiled their members with the ability to do so while Sony has forsaken us…
hello i was wonder if anyone clock is miss up on there ps3 from the update because it had the right time before the update now it is a hour ahard of time and i fix it everytime but when i sign out and sign back in it want back a hour ahard again and i have to reset it .
After i installed this update my headset has acted weird
I could hear low static and i could hear the background noise on the headset
This headset is the sony ps3 gaming headset
This happened to my friend as well his headset was different but acted the same way

Hi. I have a pair of the PS3 wireless headphones and they sound pretty awesome. They can used on your PC as well. The reason why I’m posting this is because even though they are 7.1 Virtual surround sound, you can not use the surround sound with music,TV or Movie files. Even though they may be in surround mode, it sounds like they are in stereo. They Are off the hook sound wise, when you are playing a game. You just don’t get the same effect with any thing else you are listening too. Just wondering if they are working on an update to fix this problem. Peace and thanks for your time.
Wow, the browser is actually a major improvement. It is actually usable now. I’m pissed off that it still uses an old Linux Flash Player build (9.0). I was hoping for Espn3 and Youtube 1080p. The way to fix this is you can offer a BROWSER SPOOF THAT IMITATES IE OR FIREFOX. PLEASE ADD THIS FUNCTIONALITY TO THE BROWSER CLIENT. Thank you.

Here is what i’m experiencing:
1. echoing of my voice (loudly) in my headphones
2. poor connection (static when speaking)
3. I experience this within Black Ops, World at War and Battlefield 3
Please fix this. Post directions to stop the feedback in the headphones.

ok again im going to bring this up since i havent recieved a responce, my ps3 has a corrupted file. I was playing codmw3 just fine before i downloaded the update and that was yesterday. i wake up again and press ok so the system will be restored but it doesnt, i am stationed in overseas in south korea and all i do is game all day. and since i cant do that im upset. a responce would be nice thank u

Well its nice to be able to hear my voice in my PS3 wireless 7.1 hedset, but the dula audio out still has not been touched. So I hope the next update will fix this.
Why on earth would you make a major change to the functionality of the wireless headhones and not mention it? Hearing your voice piping back through the headphones is awfully distracting. Why can’t this just be a toggle option instead of forcing people to have it one way? Personally I can’t stand it and it makes the headphones pretty much a major irritant when playing MP games.
somehow the full facebook that we see from facbook lite ( Until they deleted it) It will freeze the ps3 if you back out of it also this:

the system update okay but it really mess up playstation home it take for ever to get in and you crash a lot and you cant even download rooms everytime you try you crash somthing needs to be done cause downloads stop at 1%
Hey everyone. I noticed that this update has made YouTube A LOT better but still no option to change the settings. Still stuck with 240p but whatever… The one thing that makes me angry about this update, is that porn sites are slower, freezes, and I find myself turning off my PS3 cos it freezes.
So please whatever you did to Youtube, do it the same for other sites. LOL peace..

I have read earlier today about someone hearing static on there headsets after updating their systems with the latest update. I too have noticed this problem. This needs to be fixed ASAP Very annoying. THANKS
Nice Update but zero warning about the change to the Sony PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset that you now can hear everything but the game and nasty feedback sounds as well as causing ringing in my ears with no way to mute the mic or adjust the mic volume. Your new update needs another update to allow users the option to have the headset the old way or the new one with an added warning of possible hearing loss and migraines. Need to post up a quick fix fast on this or refund me and others for the cost of the Sony PS3 Wireless Stereo Headset.
The Good: After years of asking Sony finally updates the browser, it’s much faster than the old one and seems more stable. Much much improved, even scored a 99/100 on Acid3 test.
The Bad: Sony Entertainment Network is too long of a name. It should be Sony Online Network. Would have been much easier to say or remember.
The Ugly: No really decent updates have happened to the PS3 System Software since 3.00. This is probably the first one due to the web browser. XMB is still ugly, no voice chat, no party features, etc. Good job with the browser though.
Not sure if this is happening to anyone else, but I keep getting signed out it wasn’t doing this before I updated the PS3. Now i’m getting signed out constantly can’t even play a proper online game because it signs me out, it’s getting annoying!!!

It has happen to me as well to top off the Wireless Stereo Headset Issues…
As has been mentioned, the PS3 wireless headset is now broadcasting MY mic sound back through the speakers.
This needs to be fixed to what it was before the firmware update.

Probably won’t use the browser, but I applaud their work.
I will wait to applaud them till they add the option to have the headsets the original way before the update or this messed up way. Right now they ruined my night and possible my hearing over this update change.

I downloaded this system update and my Sony wireless headset (7.1 surround sound) started to have static issues. I called Sony entertainment support and they know about the problem but haven’t found a solution. they said that they have had so many calls about this problem then ever before.

Sony needs an option added that allows PS3 Wireless Stereo Headsets to operate on the original settings before this new update where we don’t hear our voices and every little sound around us within 500 ft. or this new amped up mic. I m going to my doctors to have my ears checked cause this new update messed up my headset to the point my ears are still ringing. Can you say possible lawsuit if my ears are damaged from this unwelcome and unannounced update to the headset.

I updated my ps3 and my headset its working bad. I can hear my voice in the speakers please sony fix that.
i’ve tried several times to dl this update, but i keep getting timeout errors each time, and now i can’t even log in to PSN on the PS3! COMPLETE RIPOFF!!
The browser performance indeed improved, but now i’m getting “Do you want to use this plugin” EVERY TIME I OPEN A NEW PAGE!!!!! THIS IS VERY ANNOYING!! FIX IT!!
Also my brother in law is also getting his own voice feeding back on his ps3 headset like others have stated, very buggy update!
And i agree about having some kind of voice communication implemented! It’s absolutely rediculous that there’s nothing of the sort implemented….. Implement video calls into the XMB!!! You’ll sell a hell of allot more of those playstation move cameras
